I am so glad I decided to pop in here one morning, I didn’t think I’d see a cafe making rainbow coffee on this side of town! Can not recommend the drinks we had enough, amazing!
The cafe interior was really ambient and cool, loved all the different chairs and tables, and game options available. Ordered the rainbow latte and mango banana smoothie. Presentation for both drinks was 10/10! Although I didn’t like the rose petal texture in my drink personally, I still loved the attention to detail and thoughtfulness. My coffee was so smooth tasting, although, I do wish they could make it on specialty milk. Was notified they could only make it on full cream milk because of the latte art, however, in other cafes in the past I’ve ordered a rainbow latte on skim. Regardless, it didn’t really bother me, just something they could consider trialling.
Will definitely be back for another coffee and hope to try out some of their food options. ⭐️

Just passby, hope to have a beautiful coffee with the stunning weather, however, boss is not there, no rainbow. A little bit disappointed. Still, worth to come as the interior setting is nice and cozy.

I’ve been here several times and still love the place like the first time I came.
Variety menu with great drinks and food.
Quiet and chill place for relaxing or studying.
Highly recommended.

Visit Sunday 24/4 at 1pm. It looked to be only one lady doing All the work (therefore) service was Slow! We went for the Rainbow Latte which wasn't available :( Ordered Red Velvet cake as well as coffees. Though eatable, it was nothing to rave about, tho presentation was ok. Quite a dark cafe. Only 4 others waiting before us. Sit down coffee was in takeaway cups(not sure why) Other staff ? meandering....Wouldn't really recommend

I loved the ambience at Caffeine Monster. The decor was perfect and the music played on the day we visited was good too. They have a variety of board games, and it's a nice place to play a game of chess or something else with a good cup of coffee.
There were a variety of drinks on the menu, and most of them looked like great flavour combinations. I tried one of the mocktails, The Darkness and it tasted really good. I would definitely return to try a few more things from the drinks menu.

Stopped in with a friend after dinner in the area. Loved the vibe, really funky decor etc. Nice coffee, tea and delicious caramel cheesecake and red velvet cake! A little on the pricey side but would come back again.

Coffee is fine. Love the jazz music and wooden seating. There is no aircon. Ask for a key to the downstairs toilet.
The staff are friendly and didn't mind me hanging around nursing my coffee for almost an hour.

This place is characterful and accommodating. I was served the perfect coffee. Absolutely will be back.

This is one of our favourite Cafes in Brisbane. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. We love the desserts and beverages here. We visit for coffee and Phuong Tran decides on a Rainbow (Rose) Coffee.

Our beautiful coffee is served with Rose petals in a huge mug with a single shot of coffee. The Rose flavouring is perfect and this coffee deserves a 5! Thank you guys!

My friends and I had brunch at Caffeine Monster over the weekend and loved it. The cafe is unique in decor and has some very “instagramable” drinks and food. I ordered the avocado on toast, peach iced tea and a strawberry and banana milkshake (without fairy floss on top as the cafe was out). The food was great and the atmosphere of the cafe was like sitting in Soho. The cafe offers a lot of board games to play as well to allow you and sit back and relax.

I was so glad to see the cafe that originally used to be Secret Trees has now become Caffeine Monster and I had to try it! I love the layout of this cafe with the music everything, instruments, books and board games. My friends and I played a hilarious card game while we chatted and waited for our food and I loved the music playing in the background too that made you feel so relaxed in the space.

I really enjoyed my rose rainbow latte and the presentation was beautiful. The coffee wasn’t overly strong with one shot and that works well for me for a sweeter drink. For breakfast I had the Eggs Benedict and I loved the added addition of rosemary and other small fruits and nuts for a more flavoursome meal! I also ordered a rose iced tea takeaway (the drip tea I wanted to try was and enjoyed the Summery blend on the hot day along with the script fruit in the cup to eat.

Wow, it looks like a share house living room 😂 but don’t worry the coffee is great and the service is nice - I had a waffle too which seemed like it was home made 👌 very interesting range of drinks and sweets - I’ll be back!

Always walked passed here after dinner nearby...this is the first time we go in just because we really wanna try it out.
Is a chill place, with board games and sofa and charger, can understand why customers three enjoying staying there.
I love my rosewater drink and the cheesecake and the freshly made waffle, but all the drinks we ordered are actually pretty good.

I've heard that this place is most renowned for their rainbow coffees, but I went on a super casual date for some mocktails and they were both pretty bad. It took a very long time to get the drinks. The plus side is the whole set up looks pretty interesting. There's a lot of musical instruments dotted around the cafe and lots of sitting space, a very nice place to chill, read a book or study. Olives do not go with chocolate, end of story. I'd come back to try the rainbow coffees and their selection of cakes though, which look quite interesting.

Decor is amazing. It was really noisy when we got there on Saturday afternoon. I ordered a red velvet caffeine free latte; was expecting more flavour, but it was basically milk. My friend got a rose milkshake that came with fairy floss which was very nice. Probably wouldn’t go again.

Found this tiny cafe located in Robertson Village near Griffith University. This place seemed very hipster (dark walls, dimmed lighting, antique furniture and acoustic music), seemed like a very chilled hang out place. I ordered the Red Velvet Latte and the BLT (originally wanted the Eggs Benedict but staff said they didn’t have the sauce so had to order something else). I really enjoyed the latte (it had a unique flavour, colour and subtle sweetness to it). The BLT was very average (the bacon was a bit salty, there was no sauce and salad was not fresh so food was not worth the price of $11.90).

My friend ordered the smashed avocado and the mixed berry iced tea. I tried a bit and found that the bread was very thick and dry, eggs were plain and salad had no sauce. Very disappointing for $12.90 and the iced tea was quite sour because the berries were frozen (not fresh so it had that artificial taste).

There was only 1 staff member there (on a Sunday morning) and he seemed very friendly but he was the only one taking orders, doing the food and drinks and he was also in charge of the music (music was connected to his phone). The drinks came quick but we had to wait a long time for the food (understandable because he had to do everything but the fact that there were only 2 other people who ordered coffee (they left then came back), no one else was seated and the food was easy to make - disappointing service!).

Overall, this place seemed to be more popular with their special freshly brewed coffee (insta worthy rainbow coffee and flavoured lattes). It was an interesting atmosphere (I liked that they provided board games) and I enjoyed the Red Velvet drink but the service and food was very disappointing!

Service: staff was sleep deprived
Food: very below average. I had a blt sandwich but it was like making one at home ... The salad was not fresh

I live nearby this cafe so it's convenient for me to drop by whenever I need a quick caffeine fix. Apart from the beautiful coffee, they also make lots of different amazing drinks, both hot and cold. The interior gives off a nice vibe and is a great place to chill out with friends in the afternoons =)

I've been here several times and have always had a great experience. The staff are friendly and the drinks are fantastic. Love their skull milkshakes and mocktails, and how their iced tea is made using ice cubes with frozen fruit. Very refreshing. It's also a great place to hang out at night because they're open late and have a lot of games (darts, cards, board games, etc) on offer. Awesome grungy atmopshere!

Strange and funny experience and a MAJOR disappointment! After being told they don't do avo because it's too expensive but it's on their menu. Waffles arrived with barely any sauce and no ice cream or cream. The guy didn't think the waffles came with ice cream or cream even though it was on the menu. My affogato 'under a cloud of fairy floss' didn't come with any and my eggs benny, despite what the menu said didn't come with muffins or smashed potato or poached eggs. It came with fried eggs, untoasted bread, no potato and dried fruit and nuts!?!? Definitely not worth the money I paid either.

Ambiance (A)
A cosy hidden gem located within a Robertson. You've got to know to come here cause you see it along the main roads. Interiors and deco of the shop brings out a cool-dark vibe. With instruments such as guitars, a piano, and games (a lot of them). I found this place to be a really cool place to hang out at. Also, a plus, they've got darts too!

Drinks (D)
I ended up trying a milkshake and a mocktail. They also do offer a variety of food and coffee/tea too. Milkshakes are uniquely prepared as you get cotton candy/fairy floss on top of your drink which is served in a skull glass.

Chocolate Milkshake with Tim Tams
- Chunks and pieces of Timtams in the Afro of fairy floss. Definitely a sweet treat for the daring

Matcha Lime/Lemon/Honey/Mint Mocktail
- Refreshing with a huge citrus punch

Service (S)
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Asked for recommendations and had a friendly chat with the staff. He also checked up to see if everything was alright

A: 5/5
D: 4/5
S: 5/5
OVERALL: Would recommend to others to give it a try, because I know I will be coming back with my friends

We came here for a late night dessert (as most places are closed by 10pm). The drinks menu looked fun and fancy. We decided to order the signature drink with fairy floss and a rainbow latte. My cousin ordered an eggs bene. When the food and drinks arrived, the quality was far from tasty. The only points i can give this place is for the setting (had boards games and dart board) and the way the drinks looked.

Caffeine Monster is a new establishment in the "uni hangout zone" Robertson Village. The cafe is dark and moody with a good touch of old school rock & roll vibe. First impression fairly positive. We ordered cappuccinos, BLT & avocado on toast.

About 10min from ordering, the caffeine hits came. The cappuccinos was well presented with "flower & leaf" latte art demonstrating competent skills of the barista. The coffee was smooth with a hint of nuttiness. According to the barista, the coffee beans are roasted and shipped from a Melbourne micro producer which supplies to "hipster" coffee shop around Australia. Being a coffee junkie myself I find it abit on the weak side and lacks flavor. 3/5

With my caffeine hunger slightly tamed, the BLT arrived. The open sandwich was generous in serving with thick cut tomatoes, mildly pan fried ham, greens & roasted nuts on wholemeal bread. The taste is fairly much what you would expect from a BLT. The inclusion of mixed nuts is a overkill from my opinion as it doesn't fit into the flavor profile. 3/5

The avocado toast came short after, with eggs sunny side up & avocado spread on toasted wholemeal bread. The avocado spread was seasoned with middle eastern spice mix & a hint of citrus. The overall flavor profile was interesting but the spice mix was too overpowering. 3/5

During our meal, we realized it was a single man operation for food & drinks (that day?). It was surprising to see the barista was able to complete our order within 30 min whilst fulfilling orders for three more tables. Is he Superman?? Service wise considering a one man operation was very good! 4/5

Hint: Order another shot if ur a caffeine junkie like me. I suggest you to try their milk shakes, it comes with a skull cup with cotton candy on top!

We go here quite often, almost four or five days a week! I have a five year old daughter, the store is kids friendly, my daughter loves here. She always have baby chino with lovely fairy floss. I almost tried every drink. Sunrise and peach tea are my favourite! Got lots of table games here, you'll never get bored. The staff are friendly and helpful. Sometimes you'll even have the chance to here live music here~they open from 8am to midnight, if you find no where to go during night time, caffeine monster is definitely your first choice!
Just travelled from Coorparoo and the store is shut (it's 10.25am), no signage (like "Back in 15mins" or something) was up except the Open sign and nothing mentioned on social media if the store was shut for the day.. No caffeine fix and a little annoyed..

I was a little surprised to see this place as we used to love Secret Trees which used to be here. Decided to try this place even though we were expecting the former. The coffee was quite passable, however I think Secret Trees had the edge. Could have done with a little more strength for my taste, the coffee was smooth & creamy though & presented well
Steve Brimblecombe
Woah, this is what I'm talking about, people This cafe used to be 'Secret trees', which I loved. Who could forget their coffee, with fairy floss on a stand, overhanging and melting into your brew? Ah, memories! However I digress and I need to tell you about it's replacement. I can sum it up with these 3 words; Yum, Yum, Yum.

Caffeine Monster is the bomb. It blew my taste buds sky high, into heavenly regions. Beautiful cakes, I recommend the New York Cheesecake and the white chocolate mousse cone. My cappuccino was very strong, the way I like it. The best thing about this place is that it is open to midnight and as it is close to the university I would be surprised if it didn't become a major student hang out.

Did I forget to mention the blue heaven monster shake and yes it had fairy floss on top. Major tick here. As Molly used to say, "Do yourself a favour and check this one out".

With what is already and under-rated and overlooked pocket for dining in Sunnybank (but apologies, Market Square will always be supreme there), comes yet another great surprise that is just waiting for more clientele to come and discover it. That is what sets the mood and how a cafe can transform beyond a place to get a drink, and be turned into the local hangout. Since the Nathan campus of Griffith is not far away, all those students wanting some night time caffienation now have somewhere to be (and I am jealous beyond belief). Yeah, this is a nifty little spot.

After a bit of a non-event of a meal close by, my dining buddy and I were driving back but had noticed beforehand that a previous establishment here looked to have been replaced. This was one you could see from across the road, where a new sign was on the overhanging shade on the roof (is there a fancy name for it?). Driving back, he turned into the carpark for us to have a bit of a gander at it. Well, that was that and before soon we were trying out the product. That was only the first time. This review is a combination of two visits, where a big event is happening soon for me, and my house mate/dining buddy decided to shout me a treat. Not many places were open late in the afternoon, but this one was, so back here it was.

Often I will go on to describe the general look of the place, and point out some characteristic decorations that are around the place. This time though, the assignment is actually to come here for yourself and see the different little touches that make it have a unique character and aesthetic that is hard to describe is such a short detail. It is comfortable, the general hues are darker black, and it definitely has the feel and appearance of a hang-out. Taking place of Secret Trees, which I mentioned looked like it was designed by Peter Pan; here it is more where Elvira would be hanging out these days. Such a stark contrast, and this is the one I prefer.

While it still at a relaxed pace, the speed of the service manages to remain prompt. It could be to do with how it is set up, since there is none of the rush that I have usually felt at coffee places right here. In fact, I would have felt a fool to have any other kind of mindset but to take my time. They are very friendly, and you only have to show up once for them to remember your face. If this is not an example for customer service, then that bar must be very high in the sky to meet.

Are you the kind of person who doesn't mind staying out or staying up late? If so, do the pubs and clubs not really do it for you and prefer somewhere with a bit of peace and quiet? Oh, and alcohol not your thing either? As someone who sympathises with that, I say that this might be the near-perfect place then. They have a good range of drinks here, which include all sorts of mocktails, different types of specialty coffee, the usual coffee offerings, smoothies and milkshakes to say a few. Nothing here is ever going to be the normal kind, so be prepared for some great twists here and there, and the flavours will be far from stock standard. It also has heaps of Chinese style desserts going on, which means they are a tad less sweet than the usual offerings. A couple of savoury options are there, and the menu will expand.

First time coming here, my dining buddy and I both grabbed a coffee and sweet each. Because this really went to an effort to be so strange, and have such an eclectic mix of offerings, I would be a fool to do the normal thing. They help you out a bit by having a specials board, or more so a "greatest hits" for what is on offer. That is a good guide if you are indecisive. I got a rainbow latte, while my dining buddy got an Irish coffee. Now this did not have actual whiskey in it, but instead Irish coffee flavoured syrup. There was also the whipped cream, and from a taste - not bad. That is all really, pleasant and nothing really to give or take. For the rainbow latte, that was where they used food colouring to create a rainbow pattern in the frothed milk, and a shot of coffee to pour in. To my taste buds, a bit over milky - and I admit over the past couple of years that I have gotten used to strong, unadulterated shots of black coffee. So I might not be the best clientele to judge it.

On the side, the sweets were the classic coffee log, and something that was quite chocolatey (but I can't remember its name). Both were fantastic, and I will give lip service to the presentation as well - each sweet is served on a wooden board, and given a swirl of chocolate syrup around it along with some strawberries and sprinkles to liven it up. The coffee log was soft and moreish, plenty of mousse and it is one that I order a lot - so there you go. The chocolate sweet was dark and rich, plus it was soft and buttery. Thumbs are going up to both.

The second time around, the dining buddy went for a cappuccino. I forgot to mention, I am not sure what the blend of coffee is that they use here. It must be a rarer kind, since from the tastes of it I can't quite recognise it. It is pleasant, it is a little unusual, and it will definitely not go down as one of the strongest varieties around. It had a slight astringent undertone, and the milk was frothed to perfection, where the foam and milk part could not be separated. This is Italian style, so no chocolate powder on top.

As for me, something different again went through my head. All sorts of choices, and one of them I knew I had to try where their Monster Shakes. Or as I like to call them, skull shakes. This ain't your old school milk bar with the lot they have. Expect more inventive flavours, or ones from a time past. That second one is important, since the flavour I got was the Australian classic "blue heaven". This, for no lack of a better word, is absolutely cool. By "skull", that is the shape of the glass, and the design gets even niftier. Each one looks like it has a giant afro, with the big lot of fairy floss on top. Let's just say on the way home I was feeling a sugar rush go all through my body. Neither my dentist nor my personal trainer is going to be impressed with that.

This time around for sweets, there was a New York cheesecake (which is delicious, soft, moreish and has a good cookie crumb base - it is a New York cheesecake; how many times can it really get described without covering old territory?) and a white chocolate mousse cone. That latter one might have had a proper name which I can't remember. As a result, I am going to refer to it as a witch's teat (which is what it looked like). The witches teat was great, with the mousse being smooth and delicious, and the decorations added to it with some melted chocolate and almond to round it up. If there is any way to make a sweet, a few pointers can be gotten from Caffeine Monster.

It is often just trying to be positive, no matter what the outcome, and seeing the good in most places, but for once the pleasantries are outright honest. This is one place that I am excited for how well it will do. All the right elements are in place, and even if it is in the developmental stages, this already has the makings of a complete product. For such a late night sweets splurge, or somewhere close by just for a coffee, in the most unlikely of places comes a niche-looking coffee shop. You can bet on your life that there are going to be many returns from me to this place, due to how unusual it is, how lovely it is, and just the whole dynamics of it all (also it has kopi lupak for something not so outrageous - look it up if you are keen to know). It will be where I lead people.

TL;DR: There is plenty of style to spare with this little hidey-hole, and finally there is a dessert bar where the items do not cost a mozza for once. It is very relaxed, and they must have been doing something right to attract more clientele since it is already doing really well. It has more of a focus on drinks, which range from mocktails to shakes to specialty coffees, as opposed to desserts, but there is enough of a variety there to appease the sweet tooth. At the time of writing, there are plans to bring in more types of food. The right elements of a coffee shop (from what I think of when reading "coffee shop") and a dessert bar, which go together really well, and it is a good PG-rated option (i.e. non-alcoholic) for the night owls to finally have a hangout. Let's just hope to heaven that this becomes a success.
