Our dinner at Thai Eat was a welcome meal for a weekly "cheat night". Entree was two spring rolls, one curry puff and one skewer of satay chicken, for each person, all of which were of a good standard and served piping hot. The curry puff pasty was crumbly with a moist and appealing filling, chicken skewer was moist and tender. We actually liked the spring rolls with the tangy sweet chilli sauce despite comments by some diners.
Mains consisted of pork pad kra pow and a beef green curry plus a generous heap of rice. Both portions looked deceptively small when first presented but turned out to be satisfyingly filling in the end. The curry was full of flavour and heavy on the coconut milk, packed with ingredients, with tender beef cuts. As a minor aside, I found a notable amount of gristle in the meat, and the curry lacked the chilli heat that I was yearning for.
The stir fry was delicious with a hint of peppery spice and fragrant herbs, again packed with fresh ingredients, with a thick and sticky gravy. It would have been an even better dish with the sweetness dialled down a notch. Dessert was fairly ordinary, a serve of milky vanilla ice cream for each of us, with a single lychee underneath, probably from a can. Although dessert was basic, I thought the entire package was good value.
Service is brisk but adequate. A little tight on space and the decor was rather bland and unspiring, not that I would expect much more from a take-away joint like this. It gets busy here, so be sure to book in advance. Well worth a second visit.
Verdict: 4 out of 5 stars
Great Thai restaurant in Doncaster...Very friendly service, excellent food (we had the pad thai and curry) and reasonably priced.... will definitely be back!
Came here tonight with my partner and it was already half full, thankfully they had a spare seating. Make sure to book ahead of time cause the restaurant is small and will not be able to accomodate to you if you don’t have a reservation prior to coming. Entrees were amazing, crunchy, flavoursome and hot! Mains was a let down, the curry we had was number 25 with chicken, it was very bland and lacked flavour. Most of their mains were salty so we had lemon added on the side to balance the dish out.. that worked! Beef salad was the only main we loved. Will come back for only entrees! :)
