Excellent local Malaysian eatery. My go-to dish is the curry yong tofu, it hits the spot everytime!
Good food and staff were nice and friendly. Good location. Good variety of food and drinks. Can be busy at peak hour time’s.
Excellent service, great value for money, very close to authentic Malaysian cooking style.
I come here all the time and love this place. The egg gravy fried noodles are always delicious. Serving sizes here are massive and the prices are really cheap!!
There was a line as the restaurant was packed but got a table almost immediately. The staffs were nice and food came out pretty quick.
I was indecisive (as always) and the staff was really nice to just explain the dishes and her recommendations. Finally after an eternity, I made a decision to get their yong tau fu which is basically soup noodles with a variety of toppings.
She asked me to go in front to pick the toppings as it is easier that way.
I got the rice vermicilee and flat noodles, with capsicum, eggplant, wonton, bitter gourd, tofu and prawn balls.
It didn't take long to cook and the portion was big alright. All of the fish ball stuffed toppings were pretty generous in size and the fish ball itself was not fishy and had a nice texture. The veggies were also fresh and wonton was yummy. Oh, i got the clear soup and it was pretty tasty.
My sis got the vegetarian curry noodle and it was yummy. The noodle was the thin egg noodle and would be nicer with the yellow noodle but the broth was delicious and the veg spring rolls was so good, with some crunch and fresh veg in it.
Overall I really enjoyed the food and could see why it was so packed.

One of the long-term popular places on kingsway. We always love it and particularly my little child’s favorite dish is the sweet and sour pork with rice. Only the lemon honey drink tastes a little plain.
Loved coming to this place as it gives me a sense of nostalgia and they’re usually still open after I finish with my night shift at work (9pm). Food is usually served quickly and I love being able to customize the fillings for my yong tofu!

Another Friday means another eatery at Glen Waverly and this time it was The Grand Tofu. Now if you’ve ever walked past here, it gets super duper busy so we decided to get there just before lunch time. We were able to get a table for 6 quick smart and we already knew what we were ordering. I got the recommended combination Hor Fun which was an egg gravy dish with delish noodz. Filled with fish cakes veggies, chicken, prawns and whatnot, this was totes AMAZEBALLS! It was hearty, it was light and that egg gravy was so frigging delish.
Definitely a favourite in this area for good wok fried noodles, Yong Tau Foo meal and other Asian and Malaysian dishes. You’ll be spoilt for choice as everything always tastes great. I can never steer far from their Yong Tau Foo range with thin dry noodle and soup broth of choice (curry, chicken or tom yum). As a place that you just order, eat and go, it’s not a place to linger and chat (you’ll be handed the bill as a not so subtle cue to leave if there are queues which there ALWAYS is especially during peak meal times), neither is it the most roomiest restaurant - definitely not a pram friendly place. But the food is tasty, prices are reasonable, portions are generous and the service is prompt.
An overall pretty nice place - the interior had a very ‘authentic’ vibe. I ordered the BBQ Pork dry egg noodle. The beef was well cook and super tendon however I would have appreciate it to have been cut into slightly smaller pieces. The noodles were fresh and flavourful - I’d recommend giving your noodles a good stir beforehand to bring the sauce to the noodles on top. Our meals were super inexpensive and well worth it. Will be back soon to try the other items on the menu.
Food is very nice and consistent. Been here 4 times, all with happy tummies. Staff are very helpful and friendly, they even get you kids cutlery without asking. Food comes super fast and steaming hot. All the items we've had so far are delicious and brings us back to Malaysia.
Great value with great taste food. Paid under $40 for the whole lot. I can’t believe the $12.80 sweet and sour pork which came in 2 big sized containers. We’ll definitely order from them again.
I had the curry soup for my Yong Tau Fu as well as their fried squid side dish. The curry was really good, not too spicy but has a lot of flavour. It paired well with the ingredients available. You can pick from a wide variety of ingredients to add to your YTF, such as meatballs, fish cakes, vegetables, noodles. It is pretty affordable as well. I’d recommend this place if you like having noodle soup dishes.
Was going to break up with my girlfriend, but the food here was so good that I decided, Ah life couldn't be that bad.
Or at least, the pain of eternal struggle with this woman, would be tolerable if I could have a lovely meal here at The Grand Tofu every week.
Thank you Grand Tofu for helping me not dump my girlfriend.
And also, wow, the prices are sooo good. Like, my girlfriend spends all my money, so you'd think I'd be too poor to eat here. But, all this delicious food for 2 people for just $48? WOW!!! What a deal. I even had extra money to tip the staff, cos they're really good too.
In summary, if you want to dump your GF, don't bring her here. Otherwise very good.
Loved this place. Awesome friendly service. Food delivered to table quickly. Loved the Yong Tofu with Curry base and egg noodles and Gado Gado. Even the Teh Tarik was great. Highly recommended
Looking for good Chinese crusine in Glen Waverley, Melbourne? I was presently surprised to stumble upon The Grand Tofu, an eatery which offers many delicious authentic food. You can get a big bowl of Young Tofu which consist pieces of tofu or vegetable stuffed with fish or meat paste served in a soup. You can choose your choice of soup base. We ordered a bowl each with Tom Yam and curry soup base. I would highly recommend their piping wok hey Char Kuey Teow (fried flat rice noodle served with prawns, chives, bean spourts and fish cake in a mixed black soy sauce). It's very nice and tasty. I went back to this place the 2nd time for their fried Char Kwey Teow and ordered the stirred beef white Kuey Teow.
Absolutely satisfying curry soup yong tau foo. We always say we want to try some of the other dishes at The Grand Tofu. Alas, we never fail to get the yong tau foo first. The portion size has always been generous - you can mix the noodles if you wish and the set bowl comes with a choice of 6 pieces of YTF. The broth is extremely flavourful, balanced and taste, on point. They thrown in some fresh taugeh (beans sprouts) and accompaniment of greens and walah, you have a balanced meal!
So if you haven't been to this place or if you have and just cannot decide on what to get for the day, default recommendation is the YTF!
