When my husband and I learned that The Pantry was doing an a la carte menu for February's monthly dinner, we knew it had our name on it. We've been wanting to come for the dinner night here for a long time because the food here is always amazing (best vegan menu around!), but degustation is not our thing. So we were delighted when our dinner experience took us on a whole other level! We opted for the Chefs Choice which was exceptional! Not only was the food was flawless, but the setting was changed up for the evening and had a great ambience. As always the service was wonderful with Allan taking great care of our food, wine and drink choices. We will definitely be coming again and highly recommend this experience for anyone looking for something special.
Service is delightful and exuberant in a cozy and eclectic setting. There is a whole special vegan menu as well! I got the delicious vegan mushroom ragu- there were at least three types of mushrooms that fell apart and perfectly captured that richness present in standard beef ragu, sans meat. Every time I return, I am always impressed. Plus, it makes an excellent study spot to sit with headphones and a laptop, provided you can work with the talkative and friendly staff!
This super easy hideaway cafe is popular and it’s because the food is fresh and beautifully presented, coffee is consistently good, and the service is upbeat and efficient. Never seen so many men in muscle Ts in one spot, but hey, no complaints!
I can't fault this café. The staff are friendly & inviting, one visit one of the waitresses was clearly not having a great day although we all have bad days & the food made up for it. - Although this does show & if it wasn't for seeing how the staff are normally it would have ruined the visit for me.
My partner & myself are usually served by Thomas, the only reason I know his name is because he happily introduces himself as he seats us at a table which I find to be a necessity in every restaurant & he always has a smile on his face which adds a little more positivity to each visit. I have even noticed the chef serving when the café is busy which just shows how much team work there is in this little venue.
The food comes out quickly, reasonably priced & you're not shoved out the door as soon as you're finished.
Well presented but not too over the top which was nice.
I cannot fault the food, not many vegan options are listed although staff are happy to alter dishes if asked, more gluten free options would take my 4.5 score to a complete 5/5.
The venue is also pet friendly which was fantastic as I live just down the road so squeezing my dogs walk in with breakfast adds an extra tick for me, this can make the wait a little longer as seating outside is minimal & as most pet owners know can be a regular circumstance when eating out with a pet although it is worth the wait. Possibly adding some extra chairs/stools outside would add a nice touch, this way customers could enjoy a coffee while waiting.
The factor that made this café stand out to me was that it still had the 'Trendy/Indie/Vintage' look to it although it was relaxed. This café has a relaxed vibe to it rather than being yet another social media crazed venue and that is the reason my partner & I keep returning.
Dined in yesterday and ordered the smashed avo and a long black. Brilliant coffee and loved the addition of tomato relish and sesame seeds in the avo- made such a standard menu item more exciting. Yum! Service was also good.
Cosy little hipster cafe hidden within the suburb of Hawthorn. Fresh, tasty dishes that came out quickly, perfect for a work lunch break. Yummy smoothies/milkshakes.
It is becoming apparent to me that there are loads of quality breakfast cafe options in Adelaide (or at least around this area of Adelaide). This little cafe is another one to add to that list.
I ordered the salmon on rye with poached eggs and the rest of our little party ordered the french toast with blueberries, the garden breakfast and the smashed avo on toast with bacon and haloumi.
The salmon on rye was quite good and the poached eggs were done well, I would rate this dish a 3.5.
The other dishes which I tasted were all excellent. The garden breakfast beans were flavourful and delicious, the french toast was absolutely perfect without overloading on the cinnamon which a lot of cafes tend to do, and the haloumi and bacon with the avo on toast were delicious.
It was a good breakfast all round, but it is a little pricier than the competition.
Pros; Coffee is good. Food is good. Ability to create your own brekky. Music is good. Staff are reasonably friendly. Cute atmosphere. Some outdoor seating. Menu has lots of options. Priced well.
Cons; Very busy at peak times. A bit cramped for space.
This is one of my favourite breakfast spots, now that he competition has increased in the breakfast scene, it's also become easier to grab a table at this spot.
It's excellent service and great food. Service can take a little long, but it's always worth the wait.
My girlfriend are now considered regulars and since the first day we tried their breakfast they have accommodated us well in every way possible. Best breakfast and awesome service!
