[Coffee Review]
With the minimum cost of a coffee being $4.50 I was hopeful of a good brew. This cafe seemed to only have one staff member who was taking orders, frothing milk and extracting coffee. Despite the slight delay caused by this solo worker the coffee was actually a great ticker of boxes and was nice and strong with a great amount of heat through that skinny milk. Would I have coffee here again given the amount of quality coffee in close proximity... perhaps not every day but certainly nice enough to add to the list of spots I will frequent.
The counter displayed lots of delicious looking pies, sausage rolls and i was really impressed to see a savoury muffin option.
The ribbon sandwiches are the best that I’ve had in a long time. Nobody makes these simple sandwiches with really soft bread anymore. You can only get them at high tea (and you know how much high tea sandwiches cost!) and 7eleven.
Very happy to find a nice cafe this close to Hawthorn Station that is open until 5 PM. At this time of the day there is still a good selection of premade food near the counter. Was served by a friendly, chatty man who made the dining experience very enjoyable. It's always a positive sign when a cafe uses good quality chicken. My partner had a Chicken Pie that he found to be very tasty. I enjoyed a small Orange Cake which I found to be very light, fluffy and fresh. To finish, my partner and I split a yummy Nutella Doughnut which was warm, melty and delicious. To our pleasant surprise, the cafe worker gave us another Nutella Doughnut to take home because it was so close to closing time. I would definitely recommend coming here after work on a weekday!
