Unexpected breakfast delight!
A Greek taverna is not your usual breakfast spot but I was super impressed with the quality of the delicious scrambled eggs and bacon on toast. beautiful thick sliced toast with the bacon cooked just how I like it :)
If you're in Hobart, go to Mezethes. From the moment we walked in, the feeling of authenticity was evident. We were greeted like the place was open just for us and the service standard never dropped away. Waiting staff took us through the menu and confidently answered our questions with regards to foods and wines.
When the food arrived, seriously, the flavours were beyond my expectations and easily rivaled and surpassed Greek cuisine in many of the places we'd eaten at in Greece!

Another great place just behind the main Salamanca road. This Mediterranean place offers good food with amazing service and good ambience. The mushroom starter was my favourite. Drop by for a good dinner.

Another pleasant surprise at the back of the Salamanca strip. We both shared the humus dip as a starter. By far the best humus we have ever had. Our main courses were both very enjoyable but we had to share our sweet as the serves are very generous. We both highly recommend this eatery even if it is a bit expensive. But then again quality comes at a price.
Called in advance to book and pre-pay for dinner for my parents who were on holidays from Melbourne for dad's 70th. When my parents arrived, the staff at Mezethes greeted them warmly and treated them so wonderfully throughout the evening. I pre-ordered the banquet plus glass of wine and baklava each, which they loved and left very full! The staff even gave an additional complementary glass of wine each, as a celebration of the occasion. Was so pleased that the team put out all the stops to make sure it was such a memorable night for them. Thank you!!
It was nice. The service was friendly, although lacked knowledge of the menu. The food was also fine. It was cooked properly, and delicious. However, the price was pretty steep for the portion sizes, especially for a greek restaurant. But that's something to expect when you're situate in Salamanca Place.
The food was amazing. My wife and I had the current specials (stuffed squid and lobster tail). It was unbelievable! The seafood was so fresh, service was excellent and they are very kid friendly with quality booster seats and room for the prams.
We had a dinner booking for 5 pax here. We decided to share a few dishes. We ordered the stuffed mushroom, white bait dish, marinated octopus, seafood saganaki, lamb fillets and some beef dish. The food was tasty but nothing was a must have try dish. Service was quick and friendly.
Four of us dined here, we sat ouside Alfresco style.
We ordered Haloumi & calamari for starters along with alcoholic beverages. Our starters were delicious, calamari cooked to perfection & Haloumi is always a wicked treat!
For mains we ordered grilled octapus, 2 souvlakia which is pita bread with tsaziki & another open plate sovlaki with mixed meats. They're were all seved with beeautifully cooked greek style potatoes & Greek salad. The grilled octapus was soft & succulent & full of beautiful flavour. The open plate Souvlakia was absolutely delicious not to mention the beautiful soft meat. So to sum it up - 4 people, 4 mains, 2 sharing entrees & bevys, The price was very fair. Quality & deliciousness was served on a plate. Happy diners.. .
We ordered 45/pp for two. The amount is generous. We are surprised about the huge portion of the seafood platter with a large varieties of seafood. Great value! The dips and bread are very good. Be careful don't eat too much of them, save more space for the seafood. We couldn't finish our platter in the end. It was a sad waste !
Exceptional service and hospitality, welcoming friendly, efficient staff. Aesthetically pleasing environment with indoor & outdoor seating, and soft classic Greek music completes the experience. Fresh home-style cooking and authentic Southern Greek cuisine, with classics like κεφτεδάκια [meatballs] and κατσικάκι [braised goat], and everyone's favourite Greek lemon-baked potatoes. The μπακλαβά [baklava] was a standard for our end of meal dessert. Wine list, and traditional Greek aperitif Ouzo and Μαστίχα to awaken your taste buds or a nightcap. We made this our 'regular' for the majority of our time spent in Hobart. I highly recommend Mezethes Greek Taverna.
Fabulous food. Authentic Greek taste and great presentation. Although busy when we arrived service was prompt and we had our meals in minutes. Music soft allowing us to talk easily
The best greek food I've had in Australia, and I've been a regular greek food eater all my Melbourne life. Fantastic venue. Great personable host. I'll be going here every time I'm in Hobart.
What an amazing establishment! From the moment we walked in the fire we were greeted with smiles. We were half hour early for our booking which was not a problem. Food was amazing and service was exceptional!
Friends recommend we go there as they do everything they are in Tasmania.

Food that was truly a dance of flavour set from spice and fire. What an amazing experience for a cold rainy day coupled with the warmth of service from their staff. Although you may have to wait for the food when it gets busy, the setting of appetisers available and the quaint personal ambiance gives time to reconnect with those you are dinning with. Overall highly recommended!
From the moment we walked in, there were 16 cyclists on the twowheeltours cycling trip to Hobart, Anastasia and his staff (inc Ash) made us feel right at home. Amazing food, great quantities and lovely vibe of the restaurant. Highly recommended and look forward to getting back there again sometime soon.

Tremendous food and service. From the moment we arrived we were warmly greeted. Terrific menu and a variety of options for starters and mains. We opted for the Octopus grilled, dolmades and a shared meat platter for two. All in all we would highly recommend Mezethes for a great meal and night out.
