Excellent place for a quiet, authentic Japanese meal. Topped it off with a glass of sake for the cold. Good food and friendly service. Would definitely come back when I'm back in Hobart.
we tried so many food such as sushi, sashimi, fried chicken, bento, ramen, all of them very fresh and authenticc taste, and also friendly service, if you visit Hobart, don't miss Komatsu in South Hobart, it worth a try!
Very authentic Japanese food. The rice was absolutely perfect, short grain and cooked very fluffy.
We were very hungry so had a big meal of miso soup, sushi, teriyaki chicken, and pork katsu curry.
I’ve eaten a lot of Japanese curries since it’s one of my ultimate comfort foods, and I would rate this very highly amongst that.
The sushi entree we had was in western roll style, but Japanese style and sashimi were also available.
To accompany, I enjoyed my little miso and jasmine tea. I started drinking the tea during entree and there was so much in the pot it lasted me until well after mains.
The service was amazing and I really appreciate the attention to detail of the serving staff. Along with the decor, it made us feel very relaxed and comfortable.
Please if you love good Japanese food and are staying in Hobart, visit Komatsu for a lovely meal!
Absolutely beautiful food. Best teriyaki chicken I've had, the sushi was really clean and fresh, and the atmosphere is really lovely and warm. Highly reccomend.
A lovely tasty dinner - I had the katsu chicken curry. Reasonable price and very attentive service. Would definitely visit again next time I’m in town.
Good flavour good and nice service. The Tonkotsu soup based raman is delicious. But the pork chashu is not as good as the soup. The noodles itself is a bit over cooked (personal performance). However the eel fish is awesome! The source, the fish and the veggie worked so well! I would say it can be the best one! The floor in the restaurant is a bit slippery, as the oil from kitchen stick on the floor. We saw an accident when we were there. Over all, good place for people who likes Japanese.
Excellent food and also the service, must try their special rolls and tempura, probably the best tempura in hobart. Very very happy with our dine in experience. Off street parking, very convenient.
The food was really tasty. The salmon sashimi was the freshest that I have tasted so far and their special chefs rolls are amazing! Delicious tempura as well. It was really busy when we went but the staff were still very lovely.
Wow absolutely the best Japanese in Hobart! Okonomiyaki was the best I’ve had outside Osaka. Would highly recommend this restaurant, 5 stars for food, service and price! Keep up the great work guys!!

We come from Sydney, which has countless Japanese cuizine restaurants. In Komatsu Japanese Cuisine, the price is reasonable and services are execellent. Recommend the ‘Dragon Roll’ with eel and fried prawn. Its the best roll in town. Should bring a group of friends and family members to try more variety. Will definitely come back for it.
One of the restaurant that I always visit when we visit. Authentic Japanese food here. Family friendly also easy for parents with kids. Bento section is where you can start with. 😊
Delicious and affordable genuine Japanese restaurant. It has a full separate vegan menu. We had the teriyaki tofu Don and the tempura udon. Both were incredible, would love to come again!
