The sukiyaki has a big difference from others photo ( the one have a big mushroom) , the sushi plate os good value, however it’s not authentic Japanese food. The rice is not sushi rice, only short grain rice, the vinegar is not enough, don’t even mention the tightness of the sushi roll and sushi. Maybe I have too high expectations, for this price it’s acceptable only.

Wow absolutely the best Japanese in Hobart! Okonomiyaki was the best I’ve had outside Osaka. Would highly recommend this restaurant, 5 stars for food, service and price! Keep up the great work guys!!

We come from Sydney, which has countless Japanese cuizine restaurants. In Komatsu Japanese Cuisine, the price is reasonable and services are execellent. Recommend the ‘Dragon Roll’ with eel and fried prawn. Its the best roll in town. Should bring a group of friends and family members to try more variety. Will definitely come back for it.

Test was very bad 👎. Vegi tempura test was disappointing because no salt no pepper even no Spices.salad was good but miso soup was disgusting ,,didn't find any tofu in the soup and got a very bad smell which is untolerable, very dry rice smells like rubber.just wasting money

Delicious and affordable genuine Japanese restaurant. It has a full separate vegan menu. We had the teriyaki tofu Don and the tempura udon. Both were incredible, would love to come again!

The design of restaurant is good and staff are nice!
The food is average but the seasonings of sushi rice has no vinegar which is quite disappointed. Also, it is quite authentic to use zucchini to make tempura but I am not a fan of it.
If you wanna try the real Japanese food, I reckon this one is not the best choice.

After our holiday to Japan where we fell in love with all things Japanese, we have been wanting to go to Komatsu for ages and we are very sorry we left it this long, as we felt like we were back in Tokyo. The Ramen was delicious, the choice of saki is extensive, Japanese beers too, the sushi was made from beautifully fresh ingredients and all so reasonably priced. We will definitely be back for more.

My son wanted to eat Japanese so we came here as it was close to where we were staying and it seemed to have decent reviews. <br/><br/>Friendly service with a reasonably priced menu. My son loved his tamago roll that we ended up getting x2 entree sizes but he didn’t want his udon. I got the unagi don which had too<br/>Much rice and sauce on the eel. I also wanted to try their seaweed salad and my husband got the teriyaki salmon bento. <br/><br/>Good portions, food and service. We might try and come back here before leave Hobart.

Very authentic Japanese food. The rice was absolutely perfect, short grain and cooked very fluffy.<br/>We were very hungry so had a big meal of miso soup, sushi, teriyaki chicken, and pork katsu curry. <br/>I’ve eaten a lot of Japanese curries since it’s one of my ultimate comfort foods, and I would rate this very highly amongst that. <br/>The sushi entree we had was in western roll style, but Japanese style and sashimi were also available.<br/>To accompany, I enjoyed my little miso and jasmine tea. I started drinking the tea during entree and there was so much in the pot it lasted me until well after mains. <br/>The service was amazing and I really appreciate the attention to detail of the serving staff. Along with the decor, it made us feel very relaxed and comfortable. <br/>Please if you love good Japanese food and are staying in Hobart, visit Komatsu for a lovely meal!

Good flavour good and nice service. The Tonkotsu soup based raman is delicious. But the pork chashu is not as good as the soup. The noodles itself is a bit over cooked (personal performance). However the eel fish is awesome! The source, the fish and the veggie worked so well! I would say it can be the best one! The floor in the restaurant is a bit slippery, as the oil from kitchen stick on the floor. We saw an accident when we were there. Over all, good place for people who likes Japanese.

The food was really tasty. The salmon sashimi was the freshest that I have tasted so far and their special chefs rolls are amazing! Delicious tempura as well. It was really busy when we went but the staff were still very lovely.
