This is now called the Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery Cafe - I was delighted to find a brand new menu, which offered simple yet tasty lunch & a kid's menu at very reasonable prices. I ordered Thai Chicken Burger on Summer Kitchen bun ($12.90) and ham & cheese toasties for the kids ($5.90).
My enthusiasm waned as it took 40mins to get our lunch (I wouldn't have minded so much if 1- my coffee arrived in time & 2- having to listen to my kids endlessly tell me how hungry they were WITHOUT my coffee). I was envious of those good mothers who had brought their kids lunch.....
When the burger arrived, it was delicious. Very satisfying, I liked the freshness of colesaw in the burger. I discounted 1/2 mark for delay in arrival of food.
It has a wonderful ambience sitting outside while kids play in the courtyard.
They had very yummy looking vanilla slice & chocolate éclair, which I will save for the next visit.
Went there for lunch and honestly not sure why other reviews are so negative as I had a very good experience there. The staff treated me well, particularly Natalie who was very polite and made my experience very comfortable and easy. 10/10 would definitely visit again.
Service was great. Staff efficient & friendly.
Food and coffee was good when it eventually arrived.
Has improved out of sight on my last review from over three years ago, with new operators in place it is definitely worth going along now and at least checking it out.
