Lovely family run cafe/restaurant. Better value than the cafes in the area and the food just tastes fresher. My favourite is the quality home style curries, fish and chips, chicken pasta, big breakfast and coffee. Always great sociable service.
Breakfast here is the best in joondalup. Generous serves and fair price. The coffee is good to. I always come here for dinner but now its my brekky spot.

It is great, to enjoy a yummy Austrian Gulasch with Spätzle downunder!!! The Styrian masterchef Joachim and his lovely wife Laetitia from Tahiti - what a friendly couple! It was great to sit outside and to enjoy homemade Apple Crumble and a quality cup of Cappuccino. The Swiss Bircher Muesli and Poached Eggs with Avocado for Breakfast is one of my favourites. The menu offers a huge variety of low fat and gluten free Curries, healthy Salads and grilled Fish. There are always lunch specials on offer under 10 Dollars. I loved the junky Pumpkin Soup with the home baked onion bread. I`ll be back soon!!
We recently celebrated my husband's birthday here with 25 people. Everyone was amazed by the quality of the food, the beautiful flavours and the personal ambiance of the place. We had selected a variety of dishes from the menu, including samosas, beef goulash, pumpkin curry, bread varieties and vegetarian dishes. We finished the feast with home made apple crumble served with ice cream and cream. The value for money and the personal service leading up to the event were exemplary and although we knew the standard of the food, as we visit the restaurant regularly, we were blown away (and so were our guests) by the attention to detail on the night of the event. We highly recommend this restaurant and, having 5 star hospitality experience ourselves wish we could give it a 6 star plus rating. We will definitely come back again and again to this hidden gem in Joondalup.
We have been going to Govender's for over 4 years now and the quality and freshness of their food remains 5 star. Their curry is one of our personal favourites. We have taken friends and family over the years and they too have become regular visitors and fans of the great flavour, taste and affordability. Although we prefer to try new restaurants, we find we cant stay away from them. If you haven't been, treat yourself and go today!

I’ve been going to Governor’s Gourmet for sometime now. I had tried many of the dishes on the menu , all the fish , curry’s and steak. A favourite of mine is garlic and lemon grilled fish with beautiful freshly made Greek salad . Can’t say I’ve ever let feeling hungry lol . Always comes with a friendly smile , nice easy going relaxing atmosphere . I love this place , it’s a must visit . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Oooh and sitting outside in the afternoon Cappuccino and cake 👍👍 perfect.
we have been regulars at govenders for the better part of a decade, they have always been consistent with food taste and quality, although now managed by new owners the food is still exactly as we remember it, the staff have managed to perfect the curry recipes we known and love, great job!
Fantastic service and food, all the fish is grilled which is a lighter healthier option that I really appreciate. Skilled barristas that brew an excellent coffee, which if you match with one of their home made cakes is absolutely awesome. I can highly recommend the home made Apple crumble, as pictured : )
If you haven't been here before, or it's been a while since you were last here, do you yourself a favour and pay them a visit soon , I can highly recommend the the entire menu.
Nice food and reasonable price
My wife and I shared the grilled masala fish and the grilled tandoori fish last night and the flavours were nothing short of phenomenal. The portion size was generous too as you get two fillets with each serving. Service was friendly and welcoming so based on our experience I would highly recommend this place.
Love the chicken curry combo. Outstanding cooking method without oil. Worth heaps with the pricing too.
Another of Joondalup's hidden gems. Although the menu is limited the food here is excellent. We love it for a get together with family. I enjoy almost all of the flavours. The curries are "colonial based" Madras style and are delicious. The goulash is also delicious the meats are always tender. The fish dishes are also great, although I usually go with the curries. Staff are very friendly and are like family in that it has become a popular spot for us. I can certainly recommend Govenders for a cheap night out with delicious food. It's also great for a carry out and I have at times taken home a frozen curry and goulash.
