When it comes to dining out, I act like a 16 year old kid getting his first car. I literally check out multiple different sites and go through tons of reviews to narrow down to about 3 must try dishes. And once I arrive, I always cross-check by asking the waiter what he/she would get. So once my research was done, I was expecting to dine at a nice tiny cozy family-owned restaurant - but I was pleasantly surprised how spacious and modern it was. Even had a bit of classy vibe going with its dark oak flooring and tables.
So we ended up getting Pop Chicken ($17), Taiwanese Sausage Fried Rice ($16), and Wasabi Mayo Prawns ($12). I know they sound pretty basic but they were truly delicious and rather unlike any other dish I've ever had (well, except for Wasabi Mayo Prawn. Not my fav).
I don't know what sort of sorcery they pulled but their fried rice was friken delicious. Like I was genuinely shook. I'm guessing they used some sort of magical sauce to make them so flavourful. Not to mention, having these small tempura bits mixed with the rice really added unexpectedly amazing texture. Definitely will get it again next time.
Pop chicken tasted like an upgrade version of one of those gigantic fried chickens people carry around in the city (you know, those big ass Hot Star fried chickens in a blue wrapper). Think of it as a more tender and flavourful version of that.
Never been to the shop, though we love ordering takeaway from them, not the most authentic Taiwanese flavour for the Taiwanese sausage fried rice, but still quite delicious my partner’s favourite. Love the tempura shrimp and the soft shelf crab fried rice!

Took away peko2 after hearing so much about it. Man, this place rocks! If the takeaway tastes so good, the dine in experience must be even more awesome.
Everything we ate was crunchy and delicious, the only downside is I was a bit thirsty at the end of it, but it’s worth it. The popcorn chicken came with kewpie mayo and fish sauce. It was just so crunchy and addictive. Even the fried rice was topped up with crunchy condiments. Well seasoned, perfectly fried and delicious at every bite. All in all, fantastic food if you fancy Taiwanese fast food
Great place for quick lunch
Reservation on Zomato was accepted and confirmed promptly. Came here on a Friday night; it’s a short walk from a main tram stop. The external signage and the actual decor is all really cute and student friendly. It feels casual, but still a class above a cheap eat.
FOOD 4/5 - pop chicken had a unique spice to it, and was extremely juicy/tender without being crispy. The dumplings tasted great since they were full of meat, but lacked enough soup to be a proper XLB. The beef fried rice was probably the most average. Nothing separating it from a quick street eat as it was quite flat in flavour and oily. Nonetheless, it matched the description and still tasted like authentic fried rice.
SERVICE 4/5 - relatively quick service, friendly staff, no-fuss attitude. Particularly liked how the waitress asked if we wanted all dishes at once or if we actually wanted to split up the small/just/big eats’ servings over time.
ATMOSPHERE 3.5/5 - it’s quite a busy and loud eatery. Bit hard to hear others talk, and the toilets are very dirty. Otherwise, the paintings and polaroids on the walls offer a homely and inviting vibe.
We ordered the satay fried rice with crispy honey beef, as well as their pork dumplings. I have a very low tolerance for spicy food and was able to devour the fried rice without much protest from my stomach. The dishes are sauce heavy, so as per usual you'll definitely want some rice or rice dish to compliment the mains. The crispy beef was indeed very crispy, and the sauce was quite rich but delicious. Great food and really good price point. The dumplings were tastier than some dumpling specific restaurants we have been to recently. Between 2 of us that was more than enough food.
eko Peko in an attempt to make their address less confusing have failed miserably.
The correct address is 1-13 Bank Street, South Melbourne. They could add that it is on the corner of Wells Street, South Melbourne. It definitely isn't in Southbank!
The food is wonderful, we have now been here several times.
For the adventurous, I'd suggest trying the Volcano Spicy POP chicken, it will blow your head away!
Very busy bustling eatery. Excellent food with great service. A bit squeezy and noisy but what do you expect for such a popular cafe at 1:00 pm I will be back!
Have been coming back here for the last 8 years. Their food is always consistent, tasty, and generous in portion. They get busy during peak hours so booking may be necessary. Their pop chicken is a favourite.
Been here for the 2nd time since moving to Melbourne and have not been disappointed. Service is great meals come out quick and piping hot. My partner was unsure about what she wanted so asked for a staff recommendation which she loved. The custard deep fried chicken is THE JAM. The apple plum wine soda was delicious as well. Will definitely be back again. Thank you again for the awesome feed.
Delicious Taiwanese food in South Melbourne. We were lucky to get a table even during the week so it’s recommended to book in advance as the place was super busy.
The food was nice and full of flavour.
The only downside was that the tables are bit small and the place is generally a little too tight.
Great Taiwanese food in Melbourne. They are always packed, so it's very wise to book online before you go there. Try all of their chef specials, they are so good.
The service is good by their friendly and helpful staff.
The food was so delicious, really amazing flavours. They have a small menu, but everything is done so well. The chilli tofu was crispy and very, very tasty.
I would highly recommend Peko Peko.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Peko Peko is vegetarian and vegan friendly.
Make sure you book, as it gets busy most nights of the week.
BYO wine only.
How amazing and tasty foods. This small Taiwanese restaurant serves you a beautiful foods with great portions. As I live close by I could see crowds and definitely suggest you to book in advance.
Thanks 😊
For Just 10 box you’ll have a delicious food! While dine in Portions are big that you get full! But when I got take away the portion was really smaller which I was surprised as I didn’t expect that! Hope they fix this issue! But still I love the food as its Very tasty, quick service, nice staff!! Everything is perfect. Its my favorite restaurant always!
Their food is the best thing that had happened to me on this business trip. High quality, reasonably priced and delicious.
Place is tidy and constantly cleaned by staff. And it has the vibe you won't want to miss. Staff is welcoming, quick, helpful and genuinely happy to see you.
Food portions are conveniently broken up into sections to match different appetites.
Parking - along the road.
Must foodie place.
Food is delicious here! 😀 and portions are quite filling! Loved the Singapore Noodles, Mince Mince and Brocoli dumplings!
A TRULY HIDDEN GEM in Southbank!
Really delicious Taiwanese food and amazing service, really fast even though they are so busy. Amazing place to try unique dishes but also have classics. Definitely worth the price!
