Lovely cafe tucked inside Block Place, which is a great location. Came here on an Eat club voucher to have my final dine-in lunch before lockdown 2.0 and I was very satisfied. This owner/manager is Italian and is very friendly as well as welcoming, and I noticed there were many regulars coming for coffee. Their lunch menu seemed to have been modified to a more limited version with a few sandwiches, pizzas and risotto/pasta on offer, and I decided to order a chicken and avocado sandwich because that is usually quite substantial and never goes wrong.
Waited around 15 minutes before the food came, and I was surprised at how big the portion size was. I was absolutely stuffed at the end and couldn’t even finish the chips - the sandwich was incredibly delicious. Loved how thick and juicy the chicken snitzel was. Only improvement they could make is
to put more avocado because I love it. All in all a pretty positive experience and I’d love to come back for a cuppa some day!
Amazing friendly service, delicious breakfast with plenty of choices and most importantly superb coffee.
We regularly have our team meetings in the room upstairs. Service is always amazing, staff are friendly and attentive. Great food too, we've basically eaten the entire menu with no complaints!
Newly refurbished and funky cafe/restaurant serving great New Zealand coffee and tasty Mediterranean food right in the heart of the city.Have eaten here twice now and can't fault the food, service or atmosphere. This venue is great for a laid back breakfast or a casual lunch. The restaurant is busy but not bustling and you never feel like you are being hurried. The food is fresh, generous serves and good value for money; staff are brilliantly efficient and professional. Will definitely go back..
Great breakfast and coffee. I had the pulled lamb that was on special. Friendly and attentive staff in a relaxed little cafe. Would definitely visit again.
Quite an impressive place! Having been here a couple of times now, I'm intrigued by the vibe and atmosphere, soaking in the true coffee culture of Melbourne as soon as you step through the door. Don't be fooled by the small entrance at Kaikey's Lane - this cafe expands beautifully out towards the back and comfortably seats many people, although it can get a little loud when lots of people are present (may not be an ideal first date location, unless you can arrange the back room section).
Service is impeccable - extremely polite and attentive, but not "in your face" or "over the top". Absolutely perfect and friendly, whilst remaining genuine. And food service times are great too - not overly long or too short either.
The coffee is incredible (as noted in other reviews too) - doesn't require any sugar/sweetener at all, so try that before adding any. The barista knows what they're doing.
Food quality is amazing too, speaking on behalf of breakfasts. I've now tried their 'special' pancakes (to die for) and their Big Melbourne Breakfast (eggs slightly over poached, but not terribly detrimental, otherwise the meal was amazing and of excellent portion size and great value for money, contrary to another review).
The menu is wide and varied, and I can't wait to return to try other specialties such as the paella, Danish feta and marinara, in order to truly experience the European/Mediterranean flavour this cafe has to offer.
Enjoy, this is a real gem within Block Lane. :)

Saw some recent marketing on insta about their $1 coffee and gave it a try this morning.
Absolutely amazing coffee- worth even the full price. I ordered coffee for my entire team and we all enjoyed our coffees equally. Our orders included flat whites, lattes, cappuccinos and mochas!
Great work! Will be back for more :)
I had a strong skinny latte here. The service was really friendly, and the service good.
But it was the cakes and sweets that I wanted hahahaha, they looked amazing, caramel, lemon meringue etc...
Luckily I kept myself nice lol and I managed to get out of their w just a coffee hahahaha
This is a nice little part of melb for tourists and locals alike.

Six of us enjoyed a Saturday breakfast here. Compared to most cafes in the cbd it's pretty spacious inside and that was a plus . I had poached eggs in toast with mushrooms, eggs cooked perfectly, the Zaatar was had by 3 and enjoyed, the vegetarian and also the Spanish breaky . No complaints. Great service and would return .
Wanting to experience Laneway dining but rushing to park up as our little Mini was having a melt down we hastily landed on Kaikey's Lane..
I think it was the colourful, fresh looking plate of Chicken Salad being gorged upon by two women that did it for me! Our host was smiley, quick to prep our table without fuss and take our orders. (He clearly picked up on the frustrated and two hangry parents, needing a little respite vibe) and kindly gave us a break.
Our choices were the Chicken Fatoush salad, Chicken Parmi and chicken strips and chips for our little Mini. Wait time was reasonable but I wasn't expecting what I ordered... The Fatoush salad was a beautiful delight of perfectly cooked cherry tomatoes, capsicum, Spanish onion and radish all lighted flavoured with sumac and oil topped with a generous sized grilled chicken breast which was also perfectly cooked (plus tender and moist) the added warm soft pita made my tastebuds scream - Yasss!! My initial choice was their waygu burger but oh so happy with my lighter but very filling option.
The other two meals were fresh and real, no frozen wannabes here! However, to be honest we over ordered... The two mains would of been suffice to share with our little Mini but eh didnt I already mention we were hangry!?
Will I be back? Duh! Their breakfast menu looks plentiful and with the freshest ingredients served for our meals, I wouldn't expect anything less for Breakfast.
A great little place with wonderful value for money. Whilst I am a meat eater, the Veggie Breakfast is certainly my favourite. Make sure you get the eggs scrambled as they are windefully done. I have been twice and shall certainly return again with friends! Great work! X
Great food for breakfast and lunch. Great staff very friendly and remember who you are. Next time in Melbourne from Brisbane will be going back there.
Lovely service and delicious food , we ordered Smashed Avo + French Toast with Extra shot flat white coffee ... I was impressed of the quality of the coffee it is amazing I will come back for it 😍😍😍😍. Thank you my experience is great there
What a beautiful little surprise. The coffee was great, so good that I went back for a second. Do yourself a favour and order the French toast.
Pros: Tasty food, fair pricing, relaxed atmosphere. Service was good.
Cons: Food took a while to come out.
