Bustling double shop in one of Melbourne's little lane ways. We went on a Tuesday night and place was packed. We left our name on thr clipboard by the entrance and went for a drink as thr line was pretty long. But when we came back after 40 mins, everyone before us was in and about 10 more names after us! We didn't realise that the queue moved so quickly. We apologised to the hostess and was sat immediately on the next available table.
We got the pork belly set which is 8 slices of pork belley marinated 8 ways. It came with a range of condiments, rice and a hot pot seafood soup. The other tables order extra dishes as they had extra people. I initially didnt think it would be enough food but we were very full afterwards.
Staff are really friendly, they explain the menu and caution you that it can get quite hot under the table with all the pellets burning and service is very effecient.
Was recommended years ago but we finally made it there. Definitely worth the wait and will be back.
Good value too!
What a gem ! Hidden down little Latrobe st behind some wooden doors food was amazing and staff were amazing also will be coming back thanks Changgo!!!!! For the best Korean bbq in melbourne

Grabbed Combo B ($88.80) & Palsaik Set ($64.80). Visited with 5 other friends, waited 45 minutes but regardless of that, I was truly impressed - cheapest and yet the best tasting Korean BBQ in Melbourne. Each set comes with complimentary stews (Kimchi Pork/Seafood Soy), bowls of rice, banchans, and seafood pancake and they were all amazing - tasted just like the ones I had in Korea (seafood pancake was so damn good!) Different types of pork and beef were marinated perfectly in different flavours and they were unbelieveably tender! Every dollar you spend here is worth it :) Highly HIGHLY recommend! (Tip: They never pick up their phone LOL so don't expect to book a table beforehand. Be there at 5:20PM if you don't want to wait in line)
There's always a line at ChangGo and it honestly never disappoints. Definitely one of my all time favourite korean BBQ places.
Enjoyed my experience here — the price was very decent. I think I ended up spending 40 pp inclusive of drinks! The meat was not bad; and we were really happy with the service. What wow-ed me was the kimchi soup! It wasn’t too diluted, neither did it just taste like kimchi paste. They were also very generous with the ingredients in the kimchi soup.
Staff are friendly and helpful, we ordered the set meal that was a bit too much for my family, but was satisfactory. We enjoyed the experience.
I had a really fun night at ChangGo. My friend and I ordered a 2 person bbq set menu and some soju and it was one of the best comfort meals I’ve had. It was a warm, cheery atmosphere on an otherwise freezing night. Thanks ChangGo!
Can’t go wrong with Korean bbq. The set prices here are pretty darn good; we especially love love loved the pork belly assortment! The wait wasn’t too bad the night we went either.
Visited ChangGo for a very late dinner last night and there was plenty of seating available due to it being 1.5 hours before closing.
Staff are attentive and friendly.
Ordered premium marinated beef brisket, ox tongue, and seafood pancake. The meat had lovely flavour and was clearly good quality. The seafood pancake was good texture and super tasty as well.
I remember they used to charge extra if you order more portions of sides but seems like that's not the case anymore. Thank goodness because I love the kimchi that they serve here!
Had a really filling and delicious meal here, would recommend to anyone who feels like having a good Korean meal. Just beware of the long line during peak dinner hours! :)
Reasonable price and definitely satisfies your kbbq cravings! We ordered the marinated meat platter (?) and it's just right for 3 of us. It's great that they change the grill plate frequently but I don't like it when they contaminate the cooked meat with the raw meat (the raw meat was stacked on top of the cooked meat). But overall it was a good experience.
You might want to go earlier to avoid long queues!
I’m actually in love with ChangGo! One of my favourite Korean BBQ restaurants ever. The food there is soooooo affordable and so worth every cent! Their seafood pancake was actually the best one I’ve ever had, perfect flavour and rustic yet crispy, it was simply delicious! The meat was soft and buttery, every bite blew me away.
The bbq was so good! We had ordered the ‘A Combo’ that included 3 different meats, kimchi soup, and rice. That set was a perfect amount and that was for me and my partner. We also added the plate of Cheese Topokki.
This was my second time coming and a first for my partner who thought all the food was cooked so well! The only thing is that we would’ve enjoyed the topokki much more if there was spice but it’s not a problem at all! We enjoyed every single bit of it and we would love to go again ☺️ The staff were friendly and very quick to serve!
*Note* If you do not like waiting for a table, come very early! We waited about 40 minutes however we were patient so don’t go on a really empty stomach if you can’t wait that long! (:
Very good food! Meat is very well seasoned and prepared, the side dishes are so good too. Very generous with portion size and side dishes can be refilled.
Not pictured is the pork belly that we also ordered, which was really good as well!
There is always a line to get in, and they don’t take bookings.
📷 Set Menu A: Marinated Pork Neck, Marinated Flank Skirt Beef, Marinated Premium Beef Brisket, Kimchi pork soup, 2 bowls of rice
While we had to wait quite a long time due to short staffing, the food was really good. The meat was well seasoned and cut. The seafood pancake, salads, and sides were all excellent. Would recommend but check the waiting time!
Very nice and chill ambience. Ordered a pork belly, marinated pork neck and kimchi soup. The pork belly is very fresh, and I like that the kimchi soup is thick, spicy, but not overly sour. Enjoyed our dinner here!
Meat was fabulous. Great marbling score for bbq we had wagyu set and added a pork belly side. Was great for 4 of us.
No bookings allowed so head there early to book a spot as they only accept walk ins.
One thing we were curious about was we were allowed unlimited kimchi but they wanted to charge for extra garlic and vegetables. First Korean restaurant we been which didn’t supply unlimited sides? Not sure
Went around 4:55 pm . No queue at all. ( unlike dinner time ) advised by staff to come before 5:45 pm weekday should be ok .
Friendly staff and assisted you with cooking the bbq meats. Side dishes and meats are all tasty.Love the seafood pancake. Will come back again.
Good, but can be improved.
We ordered as below.
1) Wagyu Striploin - good but very bland in taste, perfect for eating with sauce.
2) marinated beef tongue - great tongue, but the marination is on the sweet side.
3) marinated beef ribs - also great beef but too sweet from marination.
4) lamb - my favorite so far as the lamb is very tender.
The salad is serve 1 per table (no matter if you are alone or big party)
The food here is really good! I've had more tender meat elsewhere but this place has really good cooking. I normally dislike kimchi but I like the kimchi here, it's sweeter and not as sour or bitter as kimchi usually is. All the side dishes are good and I love that they give chopped green chilli to eat with the meat. Some places can be stingy with cheese but not this place, the corn cheese is satisfyingly cheesy. The sundubu is also perfectly flavorful and I like that it has minced meat in it, it adds to the soup's texture and flavor.
Staff were friendly, attentive, and polite. I like cooking the meat myself but they can help cook it as well, and they're quite efficient at it.
Definitely one of the best kbbq places in Melb!
