Very impressed with the Christmas Day service!
Great value for money paying $70 for a 3 course meal with a good choice of food which was all high quality. Ran slightly behind schedule but to no fault of their own and the staff were very helpful by organising their guests. Table service upstairs once the food was served to go with a comfortable amount of people enjoying Christmas!
Great choice of beers and a place we went on many occasions during our stay in Melbourne. Would recommend to anyone!

The good ole reliable should be E&W second name. We were booked for dinner elsewhere for our final meal out elsewhere ahead Melbourne isolation 2.0 but they had closed up early without telling us leaving us stranded and hungry in the city.
Fortunately for us there was plenty of rooms and levels in this classic English pub for some tasty pub grub. I ordered my old speckle hen and KD a rose. I had the bangers and mash with Cumberland herbed sausages. There was a generous helping of veggies along with the mash and the gravy was particularly flavoursome.
KD stuck to her usual suspects tonight ordering the chicken burger and then offloading the bacon in my direction. Her chips were good and worked perfectly with my gravy.
Staff were friendly and service good. The whole place has changed to table service and so had the vibe... far more chilled... although I suspect the music soundtrack hadn’t been changed for decades... rest in peace Bon Scott!

I used to frequent TE&W a little more regularly when I was a reluctant gym junkie down the road. Working it off so I could put it back on again was my motto. Today I called past and had a pint of old speckled hen for old times sake and to fill in time while waiting for my drinking buddy. First had this beer in the Lake District back on my OE in the 90’s and the elephant is a good source of this ale due to then volume of beer consumed here. Barrels are regularly changed and the good folk behind the bar know how to pour these pints.
I just loved the Nachos served here, they are the best in town and must try delicacy in Melbourne for an evening snack and chill just by enjoying the live Music or watching the sports on tv's inside the Bar! I love spending time at this place since this place looks happening always

In a city full of pubs and bars, the Elephant and Wheelbarrow is a classic British style pub catering to those looking for a great drink and a fun vibe. On a great corner location, this three story venue is decorated like a traditional English pub, with sport on tv, cold beers on tap and plenty of pub grub available. We recently popped in on a Sunday afternoon for a few drinks before dinner and we had the son and daughter with us. He is only 16, but he was welcome here as it's a family friendly venue at meal times.
It was absolutely packed with families and large groups, with live music playing. The staff were keeping up with the busy demand, and were absolutely lovely. I found the vibe to be really enjoyable, and we enjoyed our drinks, which were picked from a good selection. The food menu looked good, but we just stuck to drinks on this occasion. We have been here before lots of times to see live music and feel that The Elephant and Wheelbarrow is a really fun venue with a great atmosphere and friendly staff and patrons.
Sometimes only a counter meal is going to hit the spot and this didn't disappoint. Food arrived quickly despite them being almost full. My fish was beautiful and partners steak sandwich was also good. Beer was cold although weirdly there was one I wanted that could only be served in schooners? No biggie, just picked another. Staff friendly.
Cheeky Staff for our picky meal as the wife is expecting. All in good fun, plus my brother ordered the soup... with a beer, who does that!
The venue was hot, loved it! Winter is here and this place has you thinking it's a beautiful summer. The people here are first dates and oldies ready for a mid week brew. I'll be back for another Parma and Chips without the salad 😉

Why not visit a good old English Pub right in the heart of Melbourne. Set amongst something of a dining district, this pub does remind me of some places I visited in the UK. Whether you're sitting out on the street watching the wonders of Melbourne go by or inside dining on traditional pub food, this place has something for everyone. Plenty of beers on tap as well as a good wine list. Menu is extensive but the food takes a while so if you're in a hurry, be patient. I went the pie floater - fabulous and generous in size. Upstairs is interesting as well and it looks like there is a DJ and music upstairs in the evenings. Prices are reasonable. Dietaries can be catered for. Wheelchair friendly. Tram stop right out the front. Staff are fabulous, albeit often very busy. Will return.

We happened to be there during the Melbourne comedy festival, we see got to see 3 x live acts of great talent.

Literal hidden gem in Melbourne. Went here for the first time on a weekday and it was veryyyy busy. Fortunately we were a party of 2 and were seated instantly. Ordered a deluxe parma (chicken schnitz with salami) with a Pinot. Service was quick and attentive, and we were seated near the serving window so it was fun to watch the chefs pump out all the meals during the lunch rush. Definitely would eat again for an indulgent/hearty Friday meal 👌🏼🍷
