Portion is huge!!! These two are def a winner! Cheap and delicious! Although their other menu are 3/5.
The best gyu tan don i've ever had!!!! So dang good! Really love the juicyness of the gyu tan, so flavorful!!
One of my melbourne’s must-visit !
An oldie but definitely a goodie this one! The absolute favorite here is the gyu tan don and I have been a regular customer since uni days. Love how they have been consistent with the quality of their food and they never disappoint.
I have frequented this place for the better part of 7 years now. The fit out at this place is probably one of the best along the busy Elizabeth street and they always have good tracks playing.
The waitress was extremely nice this time - recommending me the eel with rice. Tasty eel on a bed of endless rice and the egg was pretty tasteless this time round. Would prefer the portion of the other ingredients and eel to be a little bigger when compared with the rice amount. But I will still return to this place as I believe it was just an off day in the kitchen. 🤷🏽♂️
Menya is the place to be when you're on a budget but you want to feel full! It's flavorful for the price and has large portions for one, it'll leave u feeling full after you're done!
The rice dishes, such as the gyudon is the best!
I’ve been to this place for many years now, and I’ve been constantly impressed with the quality and consistency of the food.
For first timers, you can’t really go wrong with any of the rice dishes. I always go for teriyaki chicken/beef don, unagi (eel) don, katsu don, and my recent favourite gyu tan (ox tongue) don. The flavour and sauces are usually very flavourful and intense, and the rice is cook really well. The cost is fairly cheap, and the portion is very large.
My experience with the soup noodles haven’t been so great, having tried the tempura udon most recently. The broth was bland, and there was nothing special about the udon either; none of the flavours really popped like the rice dishes.
Overall, come here for the rice dishes and you won’t be disappointed.
Only ever had the Gyu Tan Don at this restaurant. Really delicious!!! Something that you will always crave! However, the price for the Gyu Tan Don kept increasing for the past few years.. I rmb it was only 11 bucks during uni days (2013).. now it’s 17.50 🥺 still taste good nonetheless!

This my place to go for a quick lunch.
I always order the chicken katsu with the eggs.
The portion is generous, busy & reasonable clean.
Pricewise is affordable.
We ordered 2x gyutan don and they are still good as what they taste like when we were in Melbourne a couple of years ago. Really generous portions specifically the rice.
We were served by a friendly staff.
Will come back again before heading back west.
Wonderful service by genuinely helpful and friendly staff.
Helpings were generous and tasted great.
They even provide takeaway containers (at no charge) to take what you can’t finish home.
Recommend and we’ll be returning with the whole family next time.
It's a low key Japanese restaurant, so don't expect anything fancy. I won't say they have the best ramen in town but they are popular because it's relatively cheap eatery in town! These days the average price for a bowl of noodle or asian rice dish is $15, MENYA is one of the few below this average, given you arr not fussy with choice, as I usually go for the special of the day. Curry Katsudon and oyakodon are good and big servings ♧
Food came fast and the restaurant was okay. Chicken in the curry was so crunchy but the noodle was a little light taste. Anyway prices are good
Ordered the famous gyutandon (Spicy option). It was delicious, the rice was a bit too much for me. Place was busy during lunch time.
