In my circles Shirazz is a lunch staple, bordering on an institution. The express thali or the premium thali are all you need and more for a proper sit down, restaurant quality lunch (along with a mango lassi or kingfisher beer of course).
The express thali comes with two separate curries of your choice, along with yogurt and naan. The premium comes with three curries, plus an onion bajji. The maharaja is a different kettle of fish altogether - this is the nuclear option only for special occasions! You will be full whichever option you choose.
Coming after dark is also very good, which is a much more varied menu, and at a higher price point (but high quality).
For a poky part of the CBD filled with sterile and uninspiring eating options, Shirazz is an oasis in the proverbial desert.
Great new Indian restaurant in city with traditional Indian dishes tasty and not too saltish. Great wine list but may need more staff for the number of tables at restaurant
Not many options in the menu so you’d think the food would be fantastic. Slightly disappointed as it tasted very normal to what you’d find in a food court. We got the lamb roganjosh and the vegetable frez and the naans. The portion is small for the price. Lamb was a bit salty to my liking.
The ambience is good though. Pretty quiet for a lunch on a weekday.
