Nice pub. With white lovely decor and an interesting ambience that is very appealing. Great selection of ciders and beers to choose from along with a pretty good wine list. I ordered the chicken burger - this is a must. Sooo good. Dietaries can be catered for. The live music was great and it certainly attracted a good crowd. Staff are amazing and as I always say, they are the ones that can make or break a place. They totally make the whole experience at the Doutta.
Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly with high chairs available. Pram and stroller accessible.
Nice warm decoration, good quality pub food is served. I ordered the fish & chips which was really good and generously portion, even for kids. Delicious fries.
Only had the Chicken Schnitzel but was the best I have had in ages . So juicy and tender
And the service was awesome. Then to the bar to listen to music via the Spotify tablet
Drinks are resonably priced and great atmosphere
Good community pub. Warm inside with fireplaces for the winter, and good to sit outside in the sun during the summer. Solid pub food and good selection of drinks.
We were a bit worried that steak night would mean average steak however we were pleasantly surprised! Located off Racecourse Rd, we jad heard about this place from a few friends and low and behold, the steak was delicious and perfectly cooked with a serving of salad and chips which were generous! The wine wasn't too bad either. The fireplace and ambience were also an added extra with some great small talk and welcoming smiles from the bar staff. We'll definitely be back to have another steak or two. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find!
A friend and I hosted a Joint 30th Birthday Party in the upstairs function area at the Doutta Galla last Saturday. We had an amazing night and the event ran so smoothly thanks to the staff there. Lia was very responsive to my email queries as we were in the process of organising and Jake was so helpful on the night. They catered to whatever drinks we wanted upstairs, let us book a photobooth and them to set up in the front room, no drama. The platters of food we ordered were delicious and the right amount of food for our numbers.
Everything we needed in a functions space was provided for; toilets, dancefloor, projector, personalised spotify playlist, cake table etc and we were very impressed with the hiring fee and affordable minimum spend for a Saturday night.
High Fives all round to the Doot for helping us pull off a memorable event!!
I recently went to the Doutta Gala Hotel and I was extremely surprised. It was a chilled out atmosphere, the staff were extremely friendly and the food was decent for the price - I think i've finally found my new local in Kensington! The only suggestion I would make on the steak, is to get the fillet steak instead of the porterhouse, which is only $5 more - my porterhouse wasn't the best cut. The bathrooms were also very clean and modern, they have live music occasionally and they do meal specials through out the week. I will be going to the Wednesday parma special night and I'll put a review up after. I would recommend going to this hotel to have a few beers and play some pool with some mates.
A small group of friends went here with me last night. I really like this pub. The punters were friendly, the staff were good and there was plenty of room!
This place was relaxed, casual and the music was good. They had one or two craft beers on tap, with a limited number of spirits that I saw.
Compared to another pub up the road this place was really cool and a great place for a drink!
"The Doot" is probably my husband's favourite drinking hole. When he seeks some alone time, he has a beer here. One time I joined him and there was live music and children running around. It's that kind of friendly, local pub.
This time we decided to try some food. We got some fried chicken ribs with the Doot BBQ sauce, chilli sauce and Jack Daniels. The fried chicken was nice but could do with a bit more seasoning. My favourite sauce was the Jack Daniels.
The Pinot Grigio I got tasted more like vinegar water than a wine. My husband enjoyed his beer but he said it was just a "normal beer, not a special craft beer."
All in all, it wasn't bad. Wouldn't go out of my way to come here for food but it's a good local!
Came here last Sunday originally for a steak, however saw the Parma's going out of the Kitchen and just had to have one. $23ish for a quality sized parma, lashings of ham, and the right amount of cheese. The chicken was piping hot the whole way through, and adding some pepper gravy for chip dip was the absolute go, and was encouraged by the super friendly and attentive waitress. My housemate really enjoyed her eye fillet, and they were happy to accommodate her requirements without any fuss.
The only real negatives are the pint prices (I get craft isn't cheap but this is potentially one of the more expensive pub's of it's nature beer wise) and the card surcharge (I think it's 1.5%).
I'd be regularly here on weekends to watch footy and have a meal if there was a cheaper beer option or two, regardless, will be back for another feed soon.
