We stopped by Belvga Fish and Chips in our hunt for good picnic food. With a park up the road, fish and chips seemed like the perfect choice.

The food was tasty. Fish fried to perfection with a satisfying crunch in every bite. The Greek salad was the highlight for me. It took away the grease, and it was wonderfully fresh and tangy that it gave me shivers. Everything was tasty and yummy!
Seeing as we came during covid-19, before dining in was available, the service we received was limited to ordering and picking up the food at the register. The gentleman was very friendly, even guessing we were off to a picnic 😅!
Overall, Belvga at South Yarra was friendly with delicious food to match.
Perfectly cooked medium rare grilled salmon ( portion was quite large compared to similar establishments ) with steamed brown rice and Greek Salad ( lots of olives and feta cheese ). Grilled barramundi was delicious and the potato cakes were the best ever! Other diners on our table enjoyed the crispy battered prawns, scallops , fish, chips and calamari. Highly recommend.
Super nice restaurant set up. Grilled fish has its own seasoning which was really nice. The batter was not thick and not oily like other places but was still cripsy. Will definitely be back!
Best chips in town! Grilled fish is amazing, especially the salmon. Loving this local joint! The place is clean and spacious. Very friendly and fresh!

We ordered a bucket of ocean pod with fillets, calamari, scallops and crab sticks. It was amazing. I highly recommend this place if you want to satisfy your cravings for fish and chips.
One of my all time favourite fish bar in Melbourne. Always go with the grilled fish and chips (really nice chips that you normally wouldn't get from fish bar). The Mediterranean style grilled calamari was awesome too. Generous portion.
Super satisfying! Had the catch of the day which was their Blue Grenadier (Sundays). Much better grilled than fried and went so well with the brown rice. Perfectly seasoned fish. $14 for this set.
Ordered the char grilled calamari with rice. Good fresh seafood and good flavours... it did feel a bit oily which is strange as it was grilled but maybe they used a bit too much oil. Overall very good and would come back.
Great option for fish and chips. The service is quick and the food is delicious. I had the grilled calamari pack with Greek salad. The calamari was incredibly tender and the Greek salad had a generous amount of olives and feta cheese.

They do an incredible hamburger with the lot - same goes for the chips.
No matter how many fancy burgers I have, I always think Belvga is better - classic fish and chip shop type burger but of top quality produce (no creepy fatty meat or scrappy bacon) and done so perfectly. And every time.
Great salads too.
Friendly, cheerful staff.
I don't eat fish myself but my friends and family do and they love it from here.
