The place is located inside Melbourne Central near the food court seating area. I like that area as that was where I was proposed to!
So I got my usual flat white coffee - it was strong yet not bitter. Saw other people's photos with coffee art but I tend to get my coffee in a takeaway cup so it stays warm longer, so didn't get any, but nevertheless, the coffee is really good and I would be back again.
This speciality coffee shop has barely any seating, luckily there's a communal area where people have their lunches and coffee.
From the reports I've heard and read they are very consistent with their coffee and on my visit it was made pretty well. Good body, naturally sweet and creamy.
The particular blend for my latte was from Sensory Lab which I recently visited and also enjoyed thoroughly. It is a stark contrast to the other Plantation I visited in QV which I disliked (now closed).
A quick and easy place to grab some respite while shopping in the city, Plantation actually make really good coffee. They have a good selection, and their iced drinks are really good too.
There are some decent choices of sweets and pastries, and they are served on cute boards. There is plenty of seating alongside the cafe front, and service is friendly and efficient. They are also fab at takeaway coffees and the wait is never too long.
I walk past this place all the time and have always wanted to try it. As it was a very cold morning I opted for a hot chocolate.
It was creamy, smooth and very delicious.
Probably one of my favourites in Melbourne so far!
Staff were really ace to and put a smile on my face

Amazing specialty coffee. They usually have a range of different coffee to choose from, which chages occasionally. Been here many times and never disappointed
This is a nice place to take a break from the chaos in Melbourne Central. Staff were exceptionally friendly and the service provided was of a high standard.
I had the cappuccino (love that foam art!) while my sidekicks had the mocha and iced latte.
The cappuccino was smooth, aromatic and not overly acidic. It had a distinctive taste and this made it an interesting experience. The other drinks were also well received and quenched everyone's thirst.
After stocking up on caffeine, it was time to plough through the crowds....
Great service, friendly staff. Since its located near the food court, its easily accessible. The chai is great! Smoothe, nutty and the right temperature.
Love their coffees ☕️ they also have the best banana bread and pastries!
Location is really convenient. Just at Melbourne central on the food court level.
friendly staff! Nice service! Ordered a ice latte and it turned out to be ammmmazzzing! Thx for the beautiful job! Definitely come back again to try more!
Tried this small little coffee shop in Melbourne central. Care was used in the preparation of the coffee. The coffee beans were strong and robust
We were lucky to get a table cos there was a long queue (seemingly regular patrons) after we reached. Coffee was great but the lemon elderweiss cake was cold and dry.
Great coffee, out of the main shopping areas but in a great location (and right next door to Crumpler). Super friendly staff and really competent barrister.
Another great coffee spot in this wonderful city.
ordered a flat white, they seemed to use medium to dark roasted beans. Coffee is strong 💪🏻
I didn’t get the Baba Budan paper cup though (but with the seven seeds cup). They maybe a brother/sister cafe from the seven seeds cafe?
On my coffee tour through the Melbourne CBD, we made our second stop at Brother Baba Budan. I was surprised by the queue in front of the little coffee shop. We generally do not see that where I am coming from (Switzerland).
I especially liked the interior design and the music, totally my style. On the wall you could watch a video from a coffee farm. On the opposite wall you could also ready about the sustainability program their roaster put in place. It is great to see how specialty coffee is pushing this factor of the coffee value chain.
We then, of course, also tasted an espresso. I was curious how the baristas could keep up with a straight black espresso during such a busy time: they did a fantastic job. The washed coffee from Ethiopia 🇪🇹 was very clean, sweet, with a lingering finish.
Thank you very much for this experience.
The definitive Melbourne experience of good beans used to make the perfect coffee. A must-go if you are in the CBD.
Few well-made food options to compliment as well!

The coffee shop is a unique place in Melbourne with the chairs hanging from the ceiling providing a relaxed atmosphere with coffees and delicious creamy and hot chocolates.
One of the most delicious cups of chai latte I’ve had in a long while.
Ordered a soy chai with a hint of honey thanks to a previous reviewer and I was in awe. It didn’t make it too sweet, but rlly complemented the spices from the chai. Everything just worked well, not too much spice, could do less sweetness but the creaminess was surreal. Normally the camera eats first but I sneakily had a sip and it was gone in moments. I’ve had plenty of chai around Melbourne and this deserves all the hype. They use the Fly High chai brew.
Stumbled across this place 8 years ago and quality is still the absolute best. Hidden in the outskirts of the busy city, is this small shopfront that attracts you with just the aroma of their beans. Their coffee is amazing, but their chai is just as good.
