Delicious vegetarian/tofu rice paper rolls & very friendly service. Will definitely come back for dine-in and try more dishes when we’re able to.
They got a new menu with new dishes also.
What I ordered is crispy chicken rice
That is so amazing and worth trying
Very nice and definitely come back!!!
And after frequenting here for the past year, I’ve grown accustomed to the taste of the grilled chicken pho. The glistening sweet broth, coupled with the unlimited chili paste is now my standard to judge against other pho shops.
Actually, my sister and her husband had promised to pick me up at my campus and had lunch together but due to “jet-lag” it had to be cancelled. So, I had lunch with my friend, L, at Criniti’s (read my previous post) instead. Thank God, they decided to wake up just in time when I finished my classes.
I’d visited Saigon Pho twice ,within the same week, it was that good. Saigon Pho has probably the nicest decor and friendliest service I’ve encountered in a pho restaurant. This makes Saigon Pho have a slightly better vibe with it’s timber floors and chandeliers, compared than the average plastic chair/table combinations and abrupt service I’m accustomed to when itching my pho itch. I ordered the Beef Pho and a cà phê sữa. I can never pass up a Vietnamese coffee with it’s thick, bitter, sludgy coffee and sweet curls of condensed milk. Saigon Pho does a great coffee and is located a stones-throw from Melbourne University. I’m very tempted to make a habit of getting sweet coffee fix between every lecture. My beef pho came out pretty quickly, accompanied by all the usual condiments, bean sprouts, thai basil and chilli. The broth sans adding any of these wonderful condiments was very beefy and fragrant. The beef was perfectly rare and plentiful. On my second visit I dragged J along to get
I think Saigon Pho is the only Vietnamese restaurant in the Lygon/Carlton area (please correct me if I'm wrong). I was craving for some pho and spring rolls and was too lazy to head down to the city to get some, so I decided to give Saigon Pho a try.. since they're a relatively new addition to Lygon. Avocado smoothie, $3.90; made with avocado and condensed milk. This was so good and I coudn't get enough of it. They also have the custard apple smoothie, will definitely try that out the next time. Cafe 'fin' Sua Da/Nong, $3.90; Saigon Pho's special filtered white coffee with condensed milk. Rose had this drink and said it was good. All you have to do is wait for the water to filter down until there's no more water left. Pork Spring Rolls, $7 for 6. I liked the spring rolls cause they had some vegetable and glass noodles in it as well. and also because they weren't oily! Combination grilled pork, shredded pork, meat loaf and fried egg on broken rice, $10.50; I
Dong Phuong consistently deliver one of my fave dishes ~ the steam barramundi with ginger sauce. The chef and staff accomodated my dietary requirement and special request - nothing is missing. The tasty & flavorful XL fish arrived carefully packed and masterfully cooked. Stay safe, well, and blessed. Til next order soon
This restaurant was outstanding in value and flavour. We had the prawn spring rolls and sliced beef pho. Extremely worth for the price and food tasted excellent. A tasty broth with soft noodle and beef.
Great family friendly Vietnamese restaurant
We took a chance to tried Dong Phuong and we weren't disappointed. We tried their Pho and it was really good. They managed to get the broth just right with soft freshly made rice noodles. We also tried their Vietnamese pancakes (banh xeo) and it was good but not as good as the Pho. The portions for the pho was huge for the price especially compared to some places in the CBD.
The service was excellent with just the right amount of attention.
It's really good to know that we now have a local Vietnamese option to save us having to trek out to Richmond for Footscray.
Recommended. We will be back ourselves.
This is an honest, good old fashioned Vietnamese eating place! The staff are super friendly and helpful, the menu is long and covers everything you'd expect. Serving sizes are large and it's not overpriced. Our sweet and sour pork was a little overcooked but everything else was bang on, good flavours, nice spice and the spring rolls are amazing! Worth a visit for good Vietnamese
