Hungry Big Potato Bear

Best hainanese chicken rice you can get in Melbourne. Their chicken cutlet and curry puff are pretty good too. The restaurant is very small and during summer if they don't turn on the air cond can be super stuffy and hot.

Service is very slow and their chicken usually sells out fast. Get in there early.

Where Is The Chilli

I’ve just found the best chicken rice and Es Bandung in MelBourne I wasn’t sure what to order so the friendly staff suggested the classic chicken rice with Hainan Chicken and Chilli with a soup - the soup was really balanced and tasted like an actual broth not like watered down at all !!! - just like the staff described it was plump-juicy-tender and that’s what I got the rice was fluffy not dry
- the Es Bandung and the Tarik hit the spot too really complicated the meal not too sweet not too bitter

Although the selection of menu and seating is unlimited and the building it’s self is unassuming by tasting the food they’ve really NAILED AUTHENTICITY to the Tee

Not the greatest building but the service is very friendly and food is spot on authentic tasting. Not a lot of variety. I ordered nasi lemak and it wasn't too spicy and good for lunch if your office nearby.

This place has the best chicken rice in melbourne that's the closest to those back home in singapore!! I love their curry puffs as well that have a good combination of curry, potatoes and egg - but the price of one small curry puff is a little steep at $3!

Chicken rice is not bad but porion size is quite small. Their seating is also very limited. Their curry puffs though are so good. The original flavour is my favourite, reminds me of Singapore! The pastry is flaky and fragrant and the spices are spot on. If only it was in a better, more accessible location with more parking!

The service staff is really friendly. The deco is really plain but really clean. This place serves the best Hainanese Chicken Rice I have ever had in Melbourne. The chicken is tender and the chili sauce is amazing~! The amount of garlic, ginger and chili is just right for me. I also had their curry puff. The pastry is light and buttery. The potato curry in the curry puff has potato bits that are soft and you could see a slice of egg. The only flaw I can find is that the Rice is a little too dry for my liking. However, I still love this place for it's amazing food. Yummy Nom Nom Nom~!!!😍😍😍

Always love their Signature Curry Puffs here with chunky chicken pieces and quarter of an egg in it. Unfortunately lately they don't seem to make the Black Pepper Chicken curry puff. Always nice to pop by once in a while when you are in need for a good curry puff fix.

Their Hainanese Chicken Rice is also pretty good where you have a choice of boiled or roasted chicken.

Small shop located at nearby south Yarra area. Hainan chicken not too bad , rice nice taste with smell aroma ginger and but large set of chicken portion little bit less ,cost around 11.50aud by the way is nice . And the signature curry puff nice should try if you nearby this area , dining or take away ^^

Super delicious Hainan Chicken Rice - AS GOOD AS I HAVE EVER HAD - even in hawkers markets in Singapore.
Well done!!! Chicken perfectly cooked. Broth delicious. Rice was nice and the chilli dipping sauce fresh and tasty.
WHY didn't we have a curry puff??? Just so we can go back again soon!!
The restaurant looks super down spec, but the food and service is WORTH it.

My one and only favourite place for Singapore roast chicken rice. The most authentic I reckon. The chicken is very moist and tasty. The rice is a bit of a let down. Unlike, the chicken rice in singapore, which uses Royal umbrella fragrant jasmine rice, loys don't use jasmine rice I think. The rice is a bit like vietnamese broken rice. Lacks fragrance and tastes bland. The chilli sauce is a bit too sweet. The curry puffs are ok. Not spicy enough. I wish they had more variety of curry puffs like in singapore like sardines curry puffs.

It was an okay Chicken Rice. The rice a bit dry but the chicken is tender! The chicken taste pretty nice and the chicken soup tastes good as well! The sauce is nice! The chili is strong and garlicky. Place is small but the food is fine.

Best chicken rice and the rundang in Melbourne that I've tasted so far also the stuff are very friendly and very polite I would recommend it to everyone who love a good chicken rice or even the satay chicken skewers and the satay sauce is amazing just go and try it for your self

Great authentic Singaporean Hawker food at very generous prices. The staff were very friendly and the food came out promptly. I was a huge fan of the Hainan Chicken Rice dish and the signature puffs. My go to drop off if I'm in the area and need a quick feed!

Love the hainanese chicken rice and the puffs, so delicious. Feels like I'm back in Asia when I had it. The serving is quite generous. I feel this is the best hainanese chicken rice in Melbourne by far. Don't be fooled by its look from outside, you can almost miss it. The staff are very friendly and very attentive. Definitely definitely will go back and bring more friends here. This is one of Melbourne hidden gems. Highly recommend this place.

The curry puffs and black pepper chicken puffs are delicious and well worth the money (actually pretty cheap)! But they do tend to sell out early some days. The Roast Chicken Rice is great as well.
