Eating Away Melbourne

Had SOOK for dinner last Saturday. They have this amazing deal of free bottle of wine if you order above $50! I ordered prawn spring rolls, corn pancake, roti, red curry with roast duck and pad thai. ALL of them were amazing! Thoroughly enjoyed all of the dishes, beautiful flavours and good portion size as well! Bonus bottle of red wine was very smooth! Cant wait to go back and try other dishes :)

Love love love! This place has great quality thai food, very flavoursome and lots of variety. I had the Green curry and it did not disappoint! The staff are beautiful, they even gave me a FREE bottle of house wine for spending $50 and picking up the order! Will definitely be my new go-to Thai restaurant.

REALITY vs "BAD" Reviewers

3.7 rating on Zomato???

REALLY?

I'm just so glad these "bad" reviewers did not deterred me from checking out the restaurant.

Liking the impressive set up, true to it's name, "restaurant bar" with it's long room, and plenty of drinks on the long bar, high ceiling, rustic, dimly lit, colourful vibrant writing on the wall, casual with a bit of a Thai feel to it ... YES, there's even a wall mural of the late King Bhumibol looking down at the Doughnuts display cabinet at the entrance (which I find it strange, to have this Doughnut cabinet greeting patrons on arrival) ... anyhow, the Thais loves their king (previous, not current) that's what I thought the reason behind the set up.

We were shown to our table, set up, clear printed menu and drink list on the table. The waitress left us there for a while, so I approached the bar and order our wines & meal, that's okay, still shaking off the covid-19 cobweb, pro-active is preferred.

Not long after our wines, those enticing, cool looking, glazed Kana Moo Krob and wholesome Massaman Beef Curry arrived with some Jasberry rice (no plain steamed nor Coconut rice, although it's on the menu), but that's cool ... as us, hipsters loves Jasberry rice.
Apart from the aroma, all were well presented, generous portions, thailiciously yum, easy 8/10 for the Kana Moo Krob and if those chunky beef are more tender 9/10, the curry is on the sweet side (as Massaman supposed to be) a tad of chili would makes it perfect on top of a plain Jasmine steamed rice or Coconut rice, for the intense richer taste.

Liking the food ... So, I had a chat with one of the owner, about the food, the restaurant and the wine list, also airing my concerns with these low rating reviewers on Zomato (3.7), what going on here?
I don't think these "bad" reviewers are doing justice to what was presented, they are serving good Thai food, well presented, and well priced. We had a short but good genuine conversation with Amelia, she's revamping the wine list, that is fantastic, thanked us, and even shouted our dessert, we weren't expecting it and was happy to pay, so thank you.

And, yes I have reserved another dinner for 6 pax next week, and that's the REALITY of how good (not perfect) this Thai restaurant is.

They don't deserved 3.7/5 from these "bad" reviewers, more like 4-4.5/5 but unfortunately Zomato don't do half rating anymore.

I'm just so glad that I did not listen to those "bad" reviewers and tried it myself. See you next week, looking forward to sampling more of your offering, thank you and wishing you the best with the restaurant post covid-19.

And that's the REALITY my fellow foodies.
