Brunch diaries at CharlieLovett, South Wharf, Melbourne. I won a contest of brunch for two from this restaurant. On a Sunday mid morning, this place was jam packed by the locals, since Aussies love the idea of brunch unlike us.
We had our reservation so that saved us a lot of time. Ordered two brunch meals, one the Wharfman and another, Benny the cowbow with two smoothies, Monkey business and Sunset Frappe
The Wharfman is a huge breakfast platter, sourdough bacon butty (imagine two toasts with bacon in the middle), two poached eggs, chorizo, potato gems (more like french fries), bourbon bbq sauce, and smoked salmon on the side everything was really fantastic in taste and was very filling, except the salmon was bit too salty.
Benny the cowbow was another huge breakfast with two poached eggs, bbq brisket, spiced corn and chiptole hollandaise on toasted english muffins with tater tots, meaning bread, chiptole and poached eggs layer, smoked salmon on the side. This was my favorite dish from the two, loved the taste and everything was cooked to perfection.
Monkey business is cocoa powder, banana, peanut butter and almon milk smoothie, ehich tasted more like peanut butter, and didn't like it that much.
Sunset frappe is raspberry, apple and mango smoothie which tasted really yummy as the whole thing tasted like drinking mango pulp
Overall, the restaurant is really hip and has a lovely ambiance, with friendly and quick staff service. Ample of seating area inside as well as by the river. Sadly, the waiting time for the food is pathetic and really long, which they disclose it while placing the order. Otherwise, it was a great brunch experience for both of us.
The outdoor seating is great for when the weather is good, and not covered like some places around.
We had the falafel salad and the Mexican breakfast. Both great could have used a bit more salt and flavour but still really good. The bread was very nice, the mushrooms were cooked and seasoned beautifully. The menu also needs to be updated on Zomato. But overall a good experience

Went in while looking for a place to have a nice brunch over at South Wharf. Nice environment, high ceiling and feels like it has been converted from a warehouse. Food was okay, not super fantastic but was above average. My stew has alot of potatoes more than bacons, bf’s three little pigs looks and taste very much like asian home cooked omelette with some ham or bacon in there. Friend’s french toast look interesting tho, pear wrapped in bread and panfried. Like little parcels. Worth to try out but I’m not sure if I would drop by again just to have their brunch. Coffee was ok. Staff was friendly.
After a refreshing walk in Docklands and along the wharf, we decided it would be nice to stop off and grab a coffee. Being right on the deck with a cool breeze passing through, we headed right in and sat down in the busy establishment.
We ordered an iced latte and a cold drip coffee, along with a lemon polenta cake from the pastry cabinet. Unfortunately, we received an iced coffee instead (which was more of a blended ice-cream drink), but to our surprise it had a relatively strong aromatic coffee flavour. As for the cold-drip, it wasn't too bad either.
The lemon polenta cake was good and perfect to have with our drinks - zesty, light and crumbly. It all made for a lovely Sunday morning outing.

Great little place where you can admire the sunny banks of the Yarra and lots of shoppers pouring out of DFO. The menu's choice of healthy drinks is a little disappointing, though the barista knows what she's doing
Pictured is a savoury muffin from here but you can't go past the sweet muffins here! Come first thing in the morning for a selection of the best muffins for take-away. I recommend the choc/nutella muffins, and all berry muffin varieties here. I didn't like savoury muffins from here, but I am not a huge fan of the savoury muffin naturally.
Coffee here is of a pretty good standard. You would be hard pressed to find a better place around South Wharf for your sweets-and-coffee needs.
Eat in is quite good, there is an abundance of sparrows which can be bothering to some.
I have had the vege burger on occcasion and it's not of the best standard but fulfils a hunger.
South Wharf DFO does not have many dining options (especially cafe style) so I would recommend this place if you're in the area.
As a family we were feeling a tad peckish and stopped for a quick bite. We saw that they made pizza and jumped at the idea. The way we had to order was annoying how we had to walk up to the counter. The only reason im giving them such an high rating is because of the Cypriot pizza. The grilled eggplant capsicum and haloumi with some spinich red onion and chilli flakes was just Devine! Perfect base perfectly cooked! Will be coming again!
We organised our team breakfast here this morning for ~20 staff. Orders were taken the day before to cater for this rush hour mass order! Opting for the Breakfast Pan, out came my poached eggs, bacon, chorizo, spinach, mushrooms, tomato and beans. A really solid choice!
The almond milk cap was great too - but waiting at the counter to be served for ~10min was not overly impressive.
Will be back again so here's hoping the service is a tad better next time.
Best pizza in Melbourne! Great location on the river with views, can sit inside and out to suit the weather. Service is fantastic, very fast and friendly. The atmosphere lovely with cute little birds flying around .
I had great time with my family eating delicious food at this place. It was clean & well prepared to offer variety of food& drinks. The waiters & waitresses were very friendly & committed to great service. Waiting time was fine& similar to any other place. We had eggs on toast
,cappuccino & black espresso. The taste was perfect & the view was amazing. Highly recommended. Can’t wait to come back again.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Not to bad in this restaurant. It was quiet and things were quite slow to get our order delivered.
Overlooking the Yarra River its a great location.
It seems there are comments about waiting times for orders but I’m a patient man and I didn’t mind how long it took to get our order this Sunday morning. More importantly, was the food any good? Absolutely delicious that’s what! Myself and my wife ordered from memory Old school eggs and bacon and it was superb! My coffee was also fantastic and next time I’m in the city I know where I’ll be having breakfast.
