Thanh Nga Nine is a nice Vietnamese restaurant in Richmond. One of my favourite Vietnamese dishes is Bun and the beef bun here did not disappoint. It was a generous serving size and lovely flavours.
For dessert a friend and I shared the Sweet Tofu Balls - they were delicious. Highly recommend these if you like something sweet after going out for dinner.
Prices are reasonable and the extra discount through Zomato Gold was fantastic.
Had a wonderful visit here. They have a full vegan menu with loads of great options. My new favourite place for Vietnamese, as most restaurants in Melbourne often aren’t authentic. Service was great too and they were happy to accept my zomato gold. Will definitely be visiting again in the near future!
The soup and sauce are not authentic Vietnamese style. They are plain and taste like Chinese foods. The fried pancakes and shrimp mung bean pie are nice, except for the sauce served with them.
This shop sells the traditional pho, noodles and also a variety of shared dishes. The pho is clean tasting and pretty good. The dry noodles are chewy and seasoned nicely. Theres a generous amount of topping too. Will definitely come back next time to try for their egg pancakes.
On my ongoing quest to discover the best broken rice (after the untimely demise of the great Thy Thy) along the semi decimated Victoria Street in Richmond, I decided to give Thanh Nga Nine a try.
Long story short, while it was not bad and ticked most of the boxes, it still fell short of a perfect score.
The broken rice was of a generous amount. I appreciated the salads being packed separately and the soup was an unexpected but welcome surprise. Unfortunately, the pork was dry, hard and chewy - this was the main issue I had with the dish.
Otherwise, the service was exceptionally friendly and warm. Tea was offered while I waited for my takeaway order to be prepared.
My quest continues........
This isn’t our local but felt like trying something new. Glad we did. The service was efficient and friendly, restaurant is modern and clean and quite spacious. The staff were knowledgeable about food intolerances and very helpful, lots of gf options. Food and drinks arrived promptly and was delicious. Will definitely be back.
We visited nearby Vung Tau for my birthday and it was closed for maintenance! Oops. Disappointed, we walked by Thanh Nga Nine and decided to come in because they have bánh khọt in their menu. Best decision I have made.
Service is quick, waitstaffs are polite and speak good English, the young man who also works at the bar was very attentive and I saw him checking on guests about their experience, being friendly in general. Clean and modern interior.
Our food look exactly like the photos and they were delicious! Soc Trang style bánh khọt was lovely - the coconut sauce was to die for! Rare beef papaya salad was packed with tender beef and crunchy papaya, the only downside is that the cracker had lost some crunchiness. I don’t know much about authentic Bún bò Huế but our noodle bowl was super delicious on its own (I want the soup recipe). Finished the meal by sweet taro pudding, served warm with most of that yummy coconut sauce.
Zomato doesn’t let me give a 4.5 so I decided to be generous and give a 5* because there was nothing wrong with our meal. I will definitely be back!
This vietnamese restaurant is amazing! Had lots to choose from in the menu and everything I wanted to eat, they have it. Huge portions, couldnt finish what we ordered and had to take away. It was so good their food! Definately recommend getting the mini prawn pancakes! its my favouritee! Also the vietnamese pancake looked so good from across the table. Definately coming back to try out more of their food!
Great food, great service. The salt and pepper squid was awesome. Other standout dishes were their Banh Xeo (crispy pancake) and prawn and pork rice paper rolls. All dishes were so well presented. Great value and decent serving sizes left us wobbling back home.
So far, the standout down Victoria st. This is the 6th restaurant I've tried in my quest to get to each and every Vietnamese restaurant down Victoria St. the Pancake was engineered differently in that instead of folding in, they create a UFO like structure to as the owner explained keep the top half more crispy (it worked!). Other standout dishes were the mini prawn pancakes, prawn rice paper rolls, the combination broken rice and BBH (lemongrass noodle soup). We'll definitely be back
Like most places here on Vic Street, I come here for a specific dish and the dish here is Bun Bo Xao. It’s a vermicelli noodle salad with beef in fish sauce. It’s an excellent dish that is filling but at the same time not feeling bloated afterwards. Staff here work fast and prices are reasonable.
We always come here, the customer service is pretty good. The guy who runs the place is smiley and friendly, his english is great! The quality of food is very good, the place is clean and mostly busy. I like the variety of the menu that makes me happy as a vegetarian and my partner who isn't. There is a reason why we keen coming here, reccomend!
Great food and service. A bit more expensive than otherwise surrounding Vietnamese restaurant but they do have some more oustanding dishes. There could be flies let inside since they often have their windows open so could get a bit annoying.
Highly recommend the special crab drop noodles or "banh canh cua'
Top quality food and super friendly staff
Though the meal prices are at the high end for the area
Try the Vietnamese Pan Cake, The Pork Chop or The Sizzling Pork Ribs
Table Settings basic & clean but standard for the area
Local and Foreign beers available
Good beef Pho, for takeaways they put the raw meat and the hot broth in separate containers. Something to take into account when you're not heading home right away as you won't have a way to re-heat the broth and wait for the meat to get cooked in it if the broth gets cold.
The best place for Bang Khot (Vietnamese mini prawn pancakes). They serve it here with coconut cream, which adds that little extra deliciousness.
Staff are friendly, place is clean (enough) and food is served fast and hot.
Also try their crab meat rice drop noodles!
Authentic Vietnamese food. Service is quick with consistent great quality dishes. Very friendly staff too. Love the combination broken rice dish.
