Such beautiful & simple seasonal food - staff serving us upstairs were lovely too. Would highly recommend.
Amazing food combination in a lovely cozy setting. Would highly recommend this place đ
Amazing food and service, very cozy atmosphere. Great place to go for a date, canât wait to go again!
Canât believe I havenât visited this dining establishment on Cleveland Street until recently. We came here as a group to celebrate an early Christmas get together.
To get into the festive spirit we decided on sharing all the dishes. We had the suggestion of how much to order from the lovely waitstaff. They were attentive and helpful. We opted not to get the chefâs menu as we wanted to decide as a group what we wanted.
Started off with the amazing House-Made Sourdough Bread With House-Made Cultured Butter. As a table we agreed we couldâve just eaten this for dinner and we wouldâve been happy campers. It was so soft in the middle and had a nice crust on the outside this would be close to perfection in my eyes.
Other highlights of the evening included the Carrot Triangoli. The were parcels of pasta filled with carrot and served with goatâs cheese and pistachios and served with brown butter. The handmade pasta is scrumptious. Pappardelle which was served with beef shin ragu and mushrooms had a wonderfully meaty intense flavour to it. The meat was tender and sauce was thick. The Beef Short Rib was melt in the mouth. Served with a variety of vegetables and onion jus, it was a well composed dish.
The desserts were very good but I enjoyed the Baked Butterscotch Custard the most. Served with fermented cream and dark choc gelato. This was a fantastic finish to evening.
Still canât believe Iâve waited until now to try this restaurant! If you want quality Italian food that wonât break the bank this is well worth visiting.
I dined at Kindred on a weeknight with a friend. The restaurant is very cute and rustic. We were seated immediately and given table water and menus. We had the following dishes:
- house made sourdough bread - we ordered one serving of bread which we thought was enough for two. It was served warm with butter. Yum.Â
- Sardines on whole wheat crackers - I thought these had a great flavour and could have easily eaten a few more of them
- Smoked trout dip - I loved this starter and the rye and carroway lavosh that was served with it. Something a bit different if you like seafood. Â
- Parsley fusilli with grilled eggplant and mozzarella - a wholesome dish that I would eat at anytime of the day. Plenty of grilled eggplant too.Â
- Bucatini with guanciale tomato and chilli oil - My favourite of the two pasta dishes. The salty balance with the spice. Delicious.
Overall, I loved the food and experience at Kindred and cannot wait to return. Unfortunately I don't have any photos as we were too keen to get stuck into it.
We came here on Saturday afternoon luckily had book for 5 people. We ended up going for the 8 course which cost $55 I would recommend it. Great value and the food it's so good worth every dollar. However it does take quite a while about 2 and half hours so make sure your in no rush.
Outstanding from start to finish, everything made in house and was cooked to perfection. Great value and serving sizes, no BS brilliant pasta the way it should be with attentive service.
Fabulously homey place, warm and unpretentious. Rustic doorstops of housemade bread and butter are a lovely way to start and a good example of the Kindred food ethos, generous, homemade food, crafted with love and a real sense of style but no ego. It's self assured cooking that will leave you full and warm. The chicken liver parfait is a generous entree, silky smooth and rich. House pickled veggies on the side to cut the fat and make sure you don't over kill before you even hit the mains. Housemade pasta is a delight, perfectly al dente and more than generous as a main dish or if you prefer as a mid entree before mains. The lamb ragu was tender and unctious with great mouthfeel. I recommend the reginette with jerusalem artichokes, mushrooms and truffled pecerino, silky and smoky umaminess. Artichoke crisps decorating the surface add texture and beauty. The cabbage salad with raisins, pine nuts and buttermilk dressing a good side of veg to cute any guilt from all that pate and pasta. Alas was too full for desert but will be back to indulge in more goodness. No photos unfortunately as the lighting is quite dim and i was having too good a time living in the moment to spend it snapping pictures, though everything was cameraworthy!
Absolutely loved this place. A quaint setting, lovely service, and â the food makes you feel like your nonna just hugged you! (Even if youâre asian!)
A great place for a date or friends catch up, with no quarrels over the price. Special shout outs from me for the liver parfait and charred sourdough, strataciella, and gnocchi. â€ïž oh, and the home brewed ginger soda.
Kindred is a cosy Italian restaurant tucked into a narrow terrace shopfront in Darlington on the city fringe, bustling with hungry diners on the weekend we visited. Their seasonal menu has a strong focus on pasta and we found that their hearty style of cuisine worked especially well with the winter chill â we loved the vibrant flavours in the Bucatini with Guanciale, with the strands of hollow, thick spaghetti-like pasta coated in a rich chilli tomato sauce and slivers of delicious cured pork jowl meat that gave it some crunchy texture.
This was the best meal Iâve had in Sydney by far. Forget about the daggy decor and the fact that you are pretty much sitting on each otherâs laps in this tiny space. Focus on the food because the food is excellent, better than youâll get in name restaurants. Beautiful homemade soft bread and butter was a welcome starter. But the standout dish for me was the octopus, eggplant purĂ©e, pea tendrils. I could not identify the protein at first, because it was so soft and delicate. Thatâs so often NOT the case with octopus. Everything on that plate worked to create an explosion of flavour. Secondly, the braised asparagus and the charrred broccoli with preserved lemon. Iâve been cooking braised broccolini with goats cheese or goats curd, and preserved lemon ever since. The pasta was very delicate, with a subtle hint of brown butter- delicious filling. All wow! I was too full to order dessert but that will have to wait till next time. Service was personal, warm and natural.
Firstly, loved the staff. We had so much fun with them!
We ordered:
- carrot triangoli: BEST DISH. oh my goodness it was so delicious and buttery and wow (5/5)
- mushroom ravioli: lovely earthy flavours, another good dish and I would recommend (4/5)
- tomato olive and cheese pasta: nothing exciting, it was fairly standard (3/5)
- desserts were nice but not amazing. We ordered chocolate fondant and lemon tart. The fondant came out with a giant scoop of ice cream on top :( I like it when you can cut into the fondant and see the chocolate oozing out. Lemon tart was super tart in flavour
Divine cuisine paired with excellent wines and cocktails. A beautiful ambiance at the back of the restaurant plus a communal long dining table at the entrance.
The Burrata and Octopus were divine and the salads fresh and loaded with flavour. Most of the table enjoyed the delicious beef paradelle with everything cooked to perfection.
Unexpectedly, their focaccia was the best Iâve ever had - so fresh and melt in your mouth.
A great spot for a date or business dinner but perhaps not the right ambiance for spirited celebration.
Absolutely loved this place!
Pasta was beautiful - and we couldnât get enough of their house baked focaccia.
Dont skip the dessert, its so fluffy and tangy!
Highly recommend đ
Great vibe, staff very attentive and really know their stuff. Very cool decor and ambience. The food is good but not outstanding. The starters were diverse and enjoyable but basic. The mains were oversized and the flavour fusion didnât quite work. The chocolate cup dessert is amazing
A Tavola was a fine dining experience that I thoroughly enjoyed.
The service was very friendly. The staff were incredibly helpful in explaining the menu (which is like reading a foreign language) and making recommendations on what to order.
The food was so delicious. Every dish that was ordered was mouth-watering and of a superior quality. The wine selection was also amazing!
The restaurant has a lovely ambience which lends itself for a special occasion or a date night.
Proving just how popular this place is, it is recommended that you book a month in advance!
I'd definitely be keen to come back!
Wow! A Tavola was a surprise and delight. I received a surprise delivery from the restaurant as a gift from a friend and was absolutely delighted by the freshness and taste of everything included. There was also, easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on how to prepare each dish which the whole family was happy to get involved in. The ragu beef pasta was definitely a favourite dish we will go back for again and again.
This is by far my family's favourite restaurant. Genuine food, great staff and service, and great wine. The dessert is literally one of the best my wife and I have had.
Amazing dishes and wish they had this restaurant in Brisbane.
Had a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner here, the food was authentic Italian style. Burrata cheese is very special and delicious, and we were pleasantly surprised by the combination of fruits. The fish recommended by the waiter in the restaurant is also very delicious, fried just right on the outside, and tender fish inside. The waiter was warm and friendly and provided effective help.
The only pity is that the serving speed is too slow, because everyone who entered the restaurant about the same time as us has eaten and left. The second is the raw beef of the appetizer that we think is too raw for us.
In short, this is an Italian dish that will not disappoint you. Their environment design is very cute, their service attitude is very good, the price is moderate and high, and the seats are a bit narrow.
One of the Italian restaurants I've been meaning to visit and it did not let me downđ. Love everything from ambiance to service and food. Our table server was friendly and helpful with making order recommendations. Pastas we had on the day were perhaps both specials as I could not find on their website menu. The seafood one was very yummy so I'm sad that I didn't note the name of the dishđ„ș. The seafood one was tortellini with prawns(?) and fish roes, the other one was rigatoni al ragu - complimented brilliantly with each otherđ. The mood was homely and perfect for a romantic dinner date.
