We had a fantastic dinner here! Great value of food and wine list. The food was a total taste-bud explosion and very fresh. The booking system is easy to handle and the service is awesome. I would highly recommend and revisit. Lovely regards from Germany Sina & Jan
Highly recommend this new place.. food and service was out of this world. You must try something from the grill, amazing flavor! The beef tartare was sublime, as was the kingfish sashimi.. Yum! We will be back! Thank you
Amazing food and atmosphere apart from the duck. Would love to visit again. Absolutely unreal.
Although the kingfish sashimi is quite pricy considering you get 5 pieces.
I believe it is called eastside bar and grill now.
Absolutely loving the environment. The steak is lovely! Also like the calamari vey good to start with.
I absolutely love the ambience of this restaurant! We got their T-bone special and wagyu sirloin - both were served medium rare and tasted great with the truffle mayo and red jus included, but I found some pieces of the t-bone a bit too chewy. It would’ve been a 5/5 experience but it took an hour for the steaks to come out....
I’ve previously tried the mentaiko pasta and pork with polenta - the pasta was a bit bland but the pork was delicious. I highly recommend getting the fire and ice dessert - super spectacular and lots of variety!
Things to order:
Steak fries + truffle mayo: crispy with with not too much potato, Essence of beef and the mayo was perfectly made
Beef tartare: most beef tartares are slimy and lack enough flavour, but the quality here was preserved
Grilled octopus: nicely charred and not too mushy with a bit of bounce, the sauce was a bit rich but tangy
Sourdough with iberico: freshly baked from Iggy’s, the iberico was nicely cured and had great flavour
Other dishes
Sydney rock oyster: was served warm, and the vinegrette overpowered the taste of the oyster such that I couldn’t appreciate its creaminess
Avoid
Had the whisky sour with lagavulin which was a waste, would’ve been better on the rocks
Service was slow and poor
It’s definitely East meets West at Eastside Kitchen & Bar and it’s done so, so well. At the helm is Chef Stanley Wong and all the dishes we tried were creative and innovative. The ‘Fire & Ice’ dessert is definitely worth ordering if you are dining in a group. It’s quite a show and it means you all get to try a few different desserts. #fusioncuisine #gnocchi #henegg #heirloomtomatoes
I haven't been excited by food in a long while, but after dining here where food is innovative and absolutely delicious, I am renewed. Highlights were the burrata, tartare, any meat item on the menu and ice & fire dessert platter. I would definitely be back.
Aug 2018:
- Nice interior, interesting painting on the wall.
- Kingfish(?) sashimi platter with yuzu sauce and tiger’s milk: highlight of the night, excellent refreshing combination! Not sure if it’s still on the menu. (NB: Had to find out what “tiger’s milk” was - I learnt something new!)
- Duck confit: texture is great but a bit too salty for me. Comfort dish feels. Can’t remember what the other main dish we had but it was quite salty too.
We just came for a drink from the bar, the ambience & wine was great and so was the service, we saw the food come out and they looked amazing, will come back to dine another time
One of the best dining experiences of my life. I absolutely loved the beef tartar, the sashimi and the dessert platter at the end. The sharing plate concept is great for families, corporate parties and the atmosphere is amazing. Not to be missed for sure!
This is a pretty good restaurant with nice ambience and great food. For the entrees, I really liked the oysters which were served with ponzu jelly and tobiko (fish roe). The chicken karaage tasted okay but was a bit on the dry side for me. For mains, we shared the Angus skirt steak, the pork loin and polenta and the barley risotto with mushrooms.
All these dishes were really good.
For dessert, we had the “Fire & Ice” platter which was a visual spectacular. The fire does diminish after a while so take your pics/snaps/videos quickly! There were a whole range of sweet treats on the platter such as macarons, mini doughnuts and icecream. However, I personally liked the coffee jelly pudding and the creme brûlée the best.
