Clems in Newtown is your hop in hop out chicken shop. The fried chicken is better than the more famous franchises and served with much more warmth. Good food, great vibe. Don't expect frills and you'd be happy.
Clem's is simply an institution. Open late, served fresh, hot and with a smile. The staff here are amazing. Honestly, whether you're here to drown your sorrows in chips and gravy or devour your Monday blues in a piece of fried chicken, Clem's has you covered.
The salads are fresh and plentiful but I don't make friends with salad. I come for the fried chicken, chips and gravy every time. Their gravy is so good I could drink it straight out of the container. Like liquid chicken gold. The fried chicken is juicy with a well seasoned coating reminiscent of the Colonel, but with less grease.
Fantastic value. I would rather support Clem's over any new chicken joint in the neighborhood anyday.

Clem’s Chicken Shop has the best fried chicken in all of Sydney! Nothing better than ordering the fried chicken with a side of chips and gravy. If you’ve got room for dessert, make sure you get the Greek rice pudding!
Flavourful BBQ chicken and an amazing assortment of side vegetables and salads. Particularly the two types of baked potatoes covered in cheese or cream, reminds me of an American diner. A good filling serve for the price when hunger hits.

What can you say about Clems its a Newtown institution . Awesome selection of food at affordable prices .Not only great chicken but heaps of salads and veges . Have eaten here once a week for over 20 years and always been very satisfied .Everything is cooked fresh on a daily basis and if you come past at 10pm you can see them furiously scrubbing the place clean .
Always fantastic service even when its packed at lunchtime .Peter and Spiro are true gentlemen and are always helping out local community groups .
Always good to be back here. Their fried chicken though, utterly crispy and delicious!!!! Vegan options are available too! Too bad they always run put of penne pasta every time i come to pay a visit, but lovely food and service regardless!
Clem's is at the top of the unhealthy food ladder. The evil taste of the fried chicken makes me keep going back. Even the salad tastes unhealthy but truly great.
Clem's is one of the most reliable takeaway shops in Newtown, always producing quality chicken that's freakin' delicious! Perfectly seasoned skin that's crispy, moist chicken and heaps of great sides. We'd recommend the roast veggies and gravy as a perfect accompaniment to quarter of a chicken but if you're being healthy, the salads are always fresh and dressed well.

This place is a rare jewel of King Street. Disguised as a fast food chicken shop to the newbies of King Street, this place is actually one of the rocks of Newtown. Almost 40 years old Clem's is an institution. I even wear the T Shirt.
Serving the best fresh roast chicken and chips, Clem's also has daily specials that include lasagna, moussaka, roast beef and roast vegetables. This is NOT just a chicken shop. Wholesome home baked dishes (Greek twist?) changed daily complement the already excellent roast chicken n chips.
I travel from Canberra to Sydney for this food.
Peter the owner had been there for decades and the certificates and awards show his contribution to the local community.
A top bloke and a top team serving top, great value food.
Don't be tempted just by the excellent chicken, the gems are found in other dishes cooked for the day.

Loved the chicken, LOVED the sides. We had the 5 pieces fried chicken as well as their potato gratin + mushrooms. Will be revisiting to try their other options!

Forget the colonel, the general has it all. Best chicken in Sydney if not Australia. Always fresh, BBQ chicken and fried. Wide range of extras, garlic and cream potatoes, rice hot chips, proper gravy. Try it out you will not be disappointed.

Love their fried chicken here. Have only ordered via Deliveroo/Uber but orders have always been prompt & still relatively warm by the time it arrives.
The regular veggie pack isn’t very big so would recommend ordering the large.
Would prefer if the chips were cooked that tad bit more so it’s more crispier though
