Abbott's hasn't really gentrified like others in the area and you can still see some dodgy people in here, and especially see some dodgy happenings on Regent Street, but usually it's a good atmosphere. Most meals are under $15 but turn out pretty well, even the pizzas, which are nice and crispy. A variety of traditional and craft beers on tap.
We didn't expect to hit here but this is definitely a great Bristol.
The steak was well-handled and very juicy. And I would say the fries was a highlight that we could't get enough of. For the Chicken Taco, we loved so much the home-made avocado sauce which goes well with the grilled chicken beast.
And the price was so reasonable, it was just around AUD 20 sth for us. The C/P was really high.I would highly recommend this one even though out our whole trip in Sydney !!
Great traditional pub. Relaxed warm vibe and tasty value food. Try the chicken schnitzel with chips, pepper gravy & a healthy salad. Big screen for NRL games and lots of sit down tables. A real Sydney gem!
It ain’t pretty or hip, but it does the job.
Abbotts is a pub on the main Botany Road running through Redfern all the way to Mascot. It’s located near the corner to Henderson Road and looks like any other old pub from the outside. Inside, there’s always an interesting and expressive crowd though, usually watching the NRL or some other sport.
Its bistro though, is solid and the bar staff, are friendly and helpful. I’ve been here on a couple of occasions to enjoy their daily specials including the lamb roast on a Sunday (sweet $15). This time, I had the beef pot pie with mash, peas and gravy – a massive quality meal for $13. Underneath the mass of the crispy puff pastry is a hot, comforting beef stew which is tender and flavoursome. The mash is also soft and not too creamy, far better than mash I’ve had at other local pubs.

Tasty food on the cheap.. My partner and I just moved into Redfern and have been trying new places to eat for a couple of weeks. Tried the Abbotts on a saturday and walked out impressed and full of food. I had the tempura soft shell crab burger and my girlfriend says she has never had a better schnitzel. Good staff and relaxed atmosphere.
Waterloo's best pub fare. We've been eating here for the past few months and we're yet to have a bad meal. The $12 roast is the highlight which is actually available every day but heavily promoted on Sundays. The chicken schnitzel is one of the best in the area and again very affordable. The friendly bar staff make you feel welcome and the regulars are just as nice.
Fantastic place. $16 for a massive lamb roast, glass of wine and great hospitality.
This is the local hotel dedicated to the NRL home team, Rabbitohs. The pub is located quite conveniently down Botany road just mins away from the Redfern station. It’s the local spot for anyone who wants a beer. Plenty of seating inside and they checked if I scanned the NSW QR code when I went inside. The food was really good. We had several dishes and all of us enjoyed it. I did found the bar area smelling very much like a pub i.e stale beer😊 People are very friendly and easy to deal with
Enjoy every time I go there
Steve the owner is a great bloke easy to talk to and get on with
Steve loves a schooner and a punt like we all do
Attentive and happy staff always there to help out
Food is great
Go there give it a go
Nothing ventured nothing gained
My Philosophy for today
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. A very enjoyable experience
Love the Abbott's hotel I always pop in on my way through redfern. The staff are friendly and courteous and always ask if you need anything ❤️
New menu and chef it seems. First time trying the food. The pizza was good, they're half price on the weekend. Reasonably busy due to UFC being on. It is usually good for sports with a vocal crowd. Previously told no kids allowed even in the dining area be aware.
