Dad saw the bakery review on T.V. regarding vanilla slice award winner so on our travels we hunted down the winner and much to our delight the Vanilla Slice lived up to all expectations. Light crispy pastry, fluffy vanilla custard and sticky icing...YUM!! Well worth the drive from Adelaide �
Really good vegetable pastie and lovely vanilla slice. Helpful and efficient staff. A little out of town but we walked from the station.

Best vanilla slice ever!!! But have been disappointed of all things with their tasted sandwiches ... The bread was too thick that I couldn't taste the chicken, cheese and avocado fillings.
Yum!. Golden Nugget is our regular go to place for coffee, cake, lunch or just because. Excellent customer service Always happy with the food and coffee. Great pies and fresh cream products.

Having received the silver trophy at the 2014 Merbein Vanilla Slice Challenge I went for a drive in search of this one. I have to say that I wasn't disappointed. Fresh, creamy, vanilla flavoured custard. Crisp pastry that cuts beautifully and generous layer of fondant icing. Very good overall. Well worth the drive. Nice to know this place exists for when I'm next in Ballarat.
Good drive thru bakery with option to eat-in. Very friendly and inviting. Good coffee. Always hot. Great donuts and slices. Kids meals. Lunch deals. Can get abit busy in drivethru however it seems to move reasonably quick.
