truly asian fusion at its best. everything is packed with flavour and balanced really well. especially love the lamb ribs. always a recommendation when overseas guests come to melbourne for a visit!
Fresh and flavoursome. Great over drinks.
I was here for the vegustation, and having been an avid meat eater, safe to say, this is the place to come to if you want to fall in love with vegan or vegetarian food.
Put simply, the food and and the accompaniments were incredible, so much so that we asked for more of the sauce on the side just to keep our taste buds tingling.
The drinks were really good as well, I had the Pandan Colada which was a spin on the classic Pina colada and like the rest of their menu, it was refereshingly fresh and unique.
Great job!
Went to Rice Paper Scissors for a Dinner of 3 on February 8, 2020. It was my first time and the freshness of the flavours were overwhelmingly good. Growing up in an Asian household, this place really gave me nostalgic yet modern vibes of the food that was offered; it's fusion done right.
Highly recommend this place and would like to give Bella, who was stationed at our table a massive shoutout for being very friendly and efficient.
Fantastic food and service First restaurant I got to go to. As I had just arrived in Melbourne from New Zealand.
Excellent food, beautiful staff, very friendly and welcoming. One of the best Asia fusion food I’ve had. 5 stars from me. Keep up the good work👍🏽
I have been to the RPS in the city, and always wanted to try the Fitzroy branch too. Same layout but it was much easier to get a seat here! The food was delicious as always, and such good value. Absolutely loved the coconut snapper, and the galloping horses is always a winner. Cocktails went down a treat too.
Went on a Tuesday night so it wasnt too busy. Service was very friendly which is always an add on to a good experience.
We ordered 5 dishes and the price was very reasonable. We had the wok tossed squid, lamb ribs, thai bbq chicken. pork belly and steamed duck leg. Squid was definitely our favourite out of all. I enjoyed the thai bbq chicken and my friend loved the lamb ribs. Duck was a little bit under seasoned but still yummy, pork belly was really fat and the lean bit was very hard... And by the time we are having the 5th dish we were already really full. So it didnt bother us that the pork belly wasnt perfect..
Yuzu cocktail was absolutely amazing!!
Rice paper scissors caters to all tastes and will accommodate for allergies and food intolerances inc gluten and dairy. They also have a vegan menu available with is yet another tick.
Food - fresh and balanced.
Service - 3/5. Could be better but still acceptable.
Ambience - very loud and noisy but thats expected for a small busy restaurant.
Fabulous modern Vietnamese cuisine packed with punchy flavours! We shared the snapper, barramundi, lamb ribs, beef and duck salad. All were 5 star dishes- textually interesting with complex but complimentary flavours.
Had a blast here at Rice Paper Scissors. We sat up at the bar and found the staff really lovely. The space is definitely a tight fit but the food is worth it. So many unique Asian fusion flavours. Each dish brought out was so good that we could not decide which was our favourite. Presentation was great, price was a little high but definitely worth it.
Wow so yummy!!!
Our favourite dishes were the smoked broccoli from the vegetarian menu (absolutely outstanding flavour. Like nothing else I've put in my mouth), and the crispy chive cakes (special menu item - the most amazing texture and great sauce)
10/10
Had such a pleasant dining experience at Rice Paper Scissors. Really large range of vegan options, waitress gave great recommendations and the cocktails were delicious. My only warning - easy to spend lots of money as everything is delicious.
We went with the $45 for 5 dishes special which is a great deal that let’s you try lil bits of all the good stuff on offer!
🥬 Milawa Duck Larb is one of my favorites of the day. It is heavily infused with flavor with spice, broken up pieces of rice for a bit of crunch and fresh salad leaves. The sauce is all tangy and savory, which is marvellous as well.
🐟Tuna tartar special of the day with rice crackers was nice as well. Very soy, very ooh crisp fresh!
🐅Crying tiger makes ME cry because oooh charred bits of fatty meats are my life essence pretty much. It’s just criSP. And the citrusy sauce is to die for.
🍤Sugar cane prawns ended up being my mom’s fave. It’s tender, soft, and well flavored. I love the lil mint pairing to add an extra pop of flavor too!
🥘Makrut rockling curry wasn’t my favorite just because I wanted more flavor in the fish. It was cooked separate from the curry, so the flavor didn’t fully infuse BUT, loved the hairy melon bits which were doused in flavor. I’d probably get something else instead of this dish next time, but I’m glad I tried it.
🍸 That lychee drink ($21) is the perfect summary sweet beverage. It’s fizzy, fruity, and delightful.

Food was great except for greens with pork belly which was rather burnt. Service was fantastic too! My fav dish was crispy coconut cup with a variety of flavor bursting. It’s 45per px for 5 dishes (min 2 pax)
Went here for a birthday, and ordered the banquet, great value for money for a party of four. Beef with the lettuce cups (not pictured here) was the stand out dish, followed by the salad and chicken. The dumplings were a bit disappointing. Loved the atmosphere, and how the food randomly came out, in the order they think you should eat it. Apart from the first meal taking a while to come out, it was fantastic and we left very full. Staff were very friendly. Will come back again.
A delightful dinner consisting of a choice of 5 tapas style dishes of south east Asian origin. The highlight dishes were the crispy barramundi salad (with its hot spicy dressing) and Thai BBQ chicken. The pomelo citrus marinated snapper ceviche was pretty good too.
