Very similar to Din Tai Fung in terms of the style of dumpling. Made in site, juicy and ridiculously tasty. Quite crowded and there can be a wait as a result but well worth a visit.
Friends were raving about their xiao long bao. I tried it and now Im raving about it.
Can’t believe I’ve been missing out on this for so long! The service was great as they rearranged their tables to fit our party of ten and they were also super patient while we took forever to choose which dishes to have. Finally ordered the classics and nothing disappointed. Everything was so flavoursome and even the consistency of the fried rice was nice and firm, not over cooked. However, I will note that the spicy dumplings are not very spicy at all. Besides that, everything was pretty much perfect and I will definitely be making this a regular spot to visit!

We are actually preparing to move to Shanghai, so we had to try this place in Hurstville.
After spending one month in Shanghai already, I had a craving for some authentic Shanghainese food.
We arrived early on Friday night (6.30pm) and was lucky to get a table straight up.
A pot of Jasmine tea was placed on our table straight away with the menus. I love how the main menu had photos of most of the dishes, as well as a separate paper menu you just circle which dishes you want. This made ordering so simple (I wish they had that in in most Shanghai restaurants!)
I must admit I ooohed and ahhhhed as every dish came out to the other tables. I was like a kid in a candy store!
We finally ordered the prawn and chive dumplings, the Spring Onion pancake, then the Chicken Kung Pao and the simple but tasty Stir fry noodles with Shredded Pork.
The dumplings were yummy, but the pancake was a bit disappointing after having eaten them from the street vendors in Shanghai. But not too bad!
The Kung Pao Chicken was super tasty, and the pork and noodle dish was very good.
The menu has so many traditional Shanghainese dishes that I will definitely be back before we head over indefinitely.
By the time we left, there was a queue out the door, so plan early to avoid disappointment.
Taste of Shanghai has lots of outlets in Sydney. This is one of them in Hurstville.
It’s not a big restaurant, but many people are coming to have Shanghai dishes during peak hours.

Very nice pork buns, and is one of the best fried pork buns in Sydney. This is their signature dish and I suggest a try if you’re come to this restaurant for the first time.
[Paper Wrapped Tender Beef🐂 Cooked with Sliced Onion] $18.8
A special dish. The food is wrapped by paper. The onion was not thoroughly cooked, so was a bit raw. The beef is super tender and nice.
[Seafood🦐 with Shredded Cabbage and Vermicelli in Casserole] $20.8
The amount of seafood was not very satisfying. The dish was all about Vermicelli instead of seafood or anything else. Not very price-worthy. 😥

Pans fried crab and pork dumpling, love the texture and still have also juice inside the bun.
Kungpao Chicken was a little too average for me, considering dishes I tried in china, more sour flavour and more spicy to my liking it won’t hurt, that’s my opinion.
Mushroom sizzling hot plate was tasty, came to table super hot, oil from cooking was splashing everywhere, just FYI.
Dumpling craving satisfied. Have been coming here for years. Working at Hurstville called for takeaway dumplings very regularly. The food is great. You may have to line up but it’s worth the wait!. taste of shanghai. See this in the app
Tasty as usual! I wanted to try different branches of ToS in Sydney and came across one near my house. The service is a little slow but it was fine. It wasn't that busy as we entered off peak. Food is nice, had their dumplings and xiao long bao. Their mapo tofu is fantastic and stir fried lamb is very recommended.
Offering a variety of Chinese cuisine dishes, we ordered almost every dumpling option available and it did not disappoint. Food came fairly quickly and was delicious with the exception of the sticky rice dumplings which was rather bland. The spicy dumplings were also not spicy.

今天来想再点黄桥烧饼 真的太好吃了 可是居然没有了！！！好伤心 变成什么豆沙饼 失望啊伤心啊😔😔😔这家的黄桥烧饼应该是全悉尼最好吃的烧饼了 葱香酥脆 哎 希望能够再加入菜单
1️⃣点了熏鱼 失望 跟之前差太多了 干巴巴 没什么汁 有一点腥
2️⃣南京盐水鸭是才从冰箱里拿出来 有点冰 味道还行
3️⃣枣泥千层糕是一如既往的好吃 香香甜甜松松软软 真的很棒
4️⃣荠菜豆腐羹也不错 $4.5一小碗
5️⃣腌笃鲜 就是竹笋排骨火腿汤看着不怎样 汤居然很鲜 排骨和火腿都很好吃
6️⃣每次出去吃饭必点鱼香茄子 这家的偏甜 是我喜欢的口感 点赞👍
7️⃣咸蛋黄虾球超级好吃 咸蛋黄裹的很足 数了一下 一份10个虾🦐 虾很大 挺好的 配了裹着蛋黄的黄瓜🥒 也很香
8️⃣最值得一提的就是它家的酒酿元宵活鱼👏鱼🐟是真的活鱼 很新鲜 这道菜每次都是最后上 时间久一点 但真的很值得 太好吃了 会让你有舔盘子的冲动😛😛😛鱼肉很嫩 酱料十足 小元宵配着简直完美 天同小厨必点‼️
9️⃣最后还要说这家的服务 服务我们的小哥挂着实习生的胸牌 但人真的超机智 很贴心 给他点赞👍
Very good meals. Service is fair but it’s busy all the time so it’s understandable. Also it’s not licenced.
Personally I’m not a fan of some of the Northern Chinese dishes but the people I was with loved every dish.
Frequently come to this restaurant for their signature Shanghai dumplings and xiao long bao. Always well made and served very quickly. Another great dish they make is their Yangzhou fried rice which is amazing. I can say this is one of the top restaurants at Hurstville
Have meals in this restaurant several times and never disappointed on their food. Last time, my family and I would like to try a different stuff instead of dumping and noodle. A sweet and sour deep fried fish was in curly styling just the same look as the photo on the menu. Fresh fish made it perfect tender inside! If you don't mind dove cage size seating, it is a cosy place for group of under 5.
Good taste. I visited this place two to three times a year. Tables are small but once you sat down, you will feel comfortable enjoying the food there.
Great food. Good prices. Totally worth the wait if it's busy.
