Amazing. This was the best noodle soup I’ve had in Melbourne. The crispy pork on top was divine - crispy and fatty perfection. The broth was tasty and the noodles plentiful. I couldn’t fault anything. For dessert I had the roti with coconut ice cream. Cheap and cheerful, I hope this place stays around for the long haul! I popped back in 2 days later, just for the roti and coconut ice cream. Already dreaming of my next visit.

the best SE Asian noodles in Melbourne. Every visit without fail, we get the "oh my god so gooooood" reaction from their noodles. Its unusual to get fresh, delicious bamboo shoots not from cans and you can get them here. They're so good!!! The soup base is also crazy good! The whole dish is Faultless basically. Friendly staff, nice cozy venue.

Khao Piak Sen is like if my mum made it, this is fantastic.

Wish they had the Nam Khao dish on their regular menu.

Highly recommend!

A little hard to find, if you've never been there.

This is the easiest 5 I've ever given. Since having their pork belly, I've raved about it and planning my next visit.

Ordered:
🍜 Khao Piak Moo Krob: homemade rice noodles served in pork broth and topped with crispy pork ($14.50)

Review:
One of their top sellers and it's easy to see why. Pork belly was like flavour bombs; crispy on 3 sides and with an unhealthy layer of fat that melts in your mouth. What an unforgettable experience.

Pork broth was delicious too, along with the rice noodles. Soft and wonderful, it is also incredibly generous and filling.

However, please note that all their card payments charge a ridiculous 1.45% so please bring cash lol.

Noodle House by Lao-Luangprabang is on the second floor of a non-descript building on Elizabeth Street – you’ll miss the signage if you’re walking briskly past. My laziness to climb the stairs was rewarded with such a slow-moving lift that my claustrophobia started rearing its head, threatening to turn into a full-blown panic attack, before the doors languidly opened to reveal a cosy setting with warmly lit wooden tables. My solid recommendation: do not take the lift.

This hidden noodle joint is every Laotian’s favourite, and unless someone tells you about it, you wouldn't know this place exists. They specialise in Laotian noodle soups and stir-fried noodles and everything from the broth to noodles are hand-made in-house. This place is right across the road from Queen Victoria Market and up two flights of stairs.

First time trying Laotain food and loving it.
Khao Piak San is very delicious. Very unique homemade rice noodle with perfect brooth. However, the Mee Krob is abit too sweet for my palate. Can’t wait to come back and try other dishes.

Noodle House by Lao-Luangprabang - Melbourne
Khao Piak Moo Krob
We are in a deep winter in Melbourne. The nights are cold, but the soups. The soups are warm. So warm.
Noodle House is a Laotian restaurant situated opposite Queen Victoria market, a place where bustling restaurants compete for the best soup. This restaurant has come out all guns blazing and built a huge reputation in a short amount of time. I ordered the Khao Piak Moo Krob which has a strong pork broth which is made even better with a huge amount crispy shallots and garlic throughout. This dish is a true winter warmer, a cure for any sniffle you might have! The meat in this dish is second to none. The crispy pork while quite fatty is cooked to perfection and is the ideal accompaniment to to the delicious broth. The pork balls like most pork balls are a co-star to the crispy pork but add a nice chewy texture to break up the crunch. As the soup cools down the noodles start to add a slightly thick texture to the broth, a symphony of flavours creating a fantastic soup option in the CBD.

I love the noodle dish here. It’s very simple. Perfect for cold night when you are craving something warm for your lunch or dinner. If you like Thai ice milk tea, they could do a good one here. Don’t expect so much from the services, you have to constantly try to get their attentions. The place is very close to Victoria Market. Just an apartment building across from Maccas .. level 1. My favorite dish is the one with pork/beef balls cooked in 14 hrs? Can't remember the name and it's only $14.50. Add the crispy pork belly into your soup, they are a good combo together

So glad I found this place. Melbourne has no short of delicious noodle soup restaurants however this is up there with the best of the best. I’ve never tried Laotian food prior to this and it is really really good. Their crispy pork soup is so rich, so flavourful and so fulfilling. We tried a few different soups between four of us and each soup had its own unique taste and flavour. I’ll be back for sure.

Today I had the opportunity to try out this talk of the town noodles place. Make sure you follow the signs and don't enter into the apartment entrance like me. 😅 You gotta turn right at the entrance of the restaurant and walk up the stairs and turn left. Since this was my first visit, I asked the friendly waitress what is the most popular dish here. She pointed out that most people ordered the pork belly one. So I said I will have the pork belly noodles then. The noodles look very pretty. I can see the crispy pork belly placed beautifully on the top and with the surprise 4 pork balls. The soup tastes very nice and it is a bit thick. The noodles are also rather different from the usual rice noodles. One other thing I notice was that the noodles remain hot for a long time, which is excellent for cold winter day. I love this noodle soup. The pork balls are yum too. The friendly waitress later told me that they made their own noodles and the reason the soup is a bit thick is from their homemade noodles. I can choose other types of noodles next time. I will definitely come back here again for other noodles.

This place is amazing! Food is quick and always very tasty. (With this review, this is my second time been here). Their signature dish is so good. That homemade noodle, you have to try it to see what I mean. With their other noodle, they are also excellent and very satisfying. Oh that dessert, Kalan Mark Pao... I really believe that everyone should try. The roti is deep fried, covered with some sort of sugar and served with coconut ice cream. They are not your normal one, this ice cream has actual coconut in it!

Service was friendly and quick. The broth was flavoursome but after a while can be overwhelming due to the amount of fried garlic and onions they put in there. I recommend asking them to reduce those or to serve on the side like condiments instead. The noodles were very gluggy and soft, not sure if this is a typical Lao style noodle, but i personally prefer something less soft. Had the pink milk tea and it was cheap and delicious. The amount of meat/ meatballs in both our soups was generous as well. A very nice place to visit in winter as the soup is served piping hot!

Noodles were so delicious. I have been craving the Lao style noodles for so long and haven't had them since my last trip to Laos, so I am glad there is a place I can go to for my cravings. I picked the chicken on bones, which were just chicken wings so I will never make that mistake again.
