Mrs Canuck and I stopped for a coffee and brownie while strolling down Clarendon Street. The brownie was full of chocolate and walnuts and was moist but not soggy. The service was friendly and polite.
The dessert selection on this Sunday was limited to about a dozen items but has something for everyone.
PS. They have their own clean toilets. That's not common in this area.
Really nice chicken baguette. Their chicken is very tender, the lettuce are crispy and the bread is crunchy and chewy at the same time. can't wait to try their cakes as well!
Not a place to go whilst watching your figure or if your wish to stay away from the more fattening/sugar filled options.
But for when you are... Yummy. Very yummy and pure evil. Would I go back? Yes but would do so as a rare delighful treat, very delightful.
Service was a bit mediocre, but otherwise well worth a try.
Really nice place. Quality / price is very good... Pain au chocolat with fresh orange juice & hot chocolate. Poached eggs with brioche and bacon. Perfect breakfast mix french & oz.
Sometimes you just need something a little bit naughty and calorific!! Petit Tresor is not for those on a diet, they are temptation personified! Their beautiful little store has windows, fridges and display cabinets packed full of beautiful baked treats. There are stunning savouries and the prettiest cakes to choose from, a damn good coffee and there are always nice staff waiting to bring you whatever you desire.
Magnetised by the display of cakes and macaroons in the front counter, we settled down to enjoy a brunch of croque madame (bacon, cheese sandwich with bechamel sauce and a fried egg) and baked eggs with chorizo. The eggs had so much flavour and the yolks just burst in my mouth. A peanut butter macaroon that tasted like... peanut butter. Delicieux!
Peti Tresor would have not caught my eye for the savoury display on the window, but I was checking some of the terrariums they have on display and I realised it was a patisserie. The place is very small and with a very clear French blueprint; quiet, comfortable and cozy. They make all their food and cakes in the premises.
I have tried a few pastries and individual cakes. The latest are great -- Glossy, colourful, flavourful, and fresh.
The pastries look fabulous, however the danishes we tried had too much sugar in them, so the taste of the fruit gets lost or, put differently, it has never the space to shine. The sour cherry Danish was the nicest.
I love the size of the coffee cup, and the coffee was well prepared, but a bit tasteless, a bit "milky" even though it was quite dark, so it must be the roasting or type of beans they use.
Service lacked warmth, even though the place was almost desert when visited. Why not treating customers with a smile, being a bit warm and acting is if customers did matter and weren't a burden?
There is a lot of empty space used for nothing between the shop window, and the sweets cabinet. I thought that they could easily rearrange that, place a couple of more tables and bring the sweets more to the front. I think that would benefit the business.
I like their packaging boxes.

Overall, depending on what you visit for the place is a 3 star or a 3.5 star. If you just take some of the cakes home, no further interaction, it might be a 4. :))
This place has such a wide variety of delicious gems for all times of the day. My absolute favourite for breakfast is the smoked salmon, which is served on toast with asparagus, finished off with poached eggs and a zesty salsa and crispy shallots. However; in the winter months I can't go past the croque-monsieur! The two brothers Kenny and Terry have done a fantastic job. Their cakes and macarons are to die for as well.
Drool worthy cakes and delicious coffee to go with it! the dark chocolate macaron I had was perfect, the menu looks great to, will come back for the full brekky experience next time

One of my favourite coffee haunts in South Melbourne has recently started serving breakfast. I’ve always drooled over their cake display but hadn’t eaten their yet and breakfast was a prospect I couldn’t pass up. The Clarendon street strip of South Melbourne is full of great places to eat, but this French patisserie is notable for its inviting exterior, delectable cakes and the two friendly brothers who run it. The tables are all adorned with gorgeous little terrariums from Plant A Gift, they also have some succulents available for retail in the cutest concrete pots. Just another thing I’ve lusted after at this cute cafe. While breakfast has only been on offer for a short time the menu still evokes some difficult decisions – luckily we started with coffee to ease into our meal. Our coffee took some time to arrive but we’re lovely when they did. The flavours are rich and complex, the milk is creamy with an attempt at latte art. Let’s start with the French toast, a hugely generous serving with a mascarpone, lemon curd, chocolate crumb and fresh strawberry. This is a very rich and creamy dish and the lemon curd is very necessary for some tartness to cut through the heaviness. The toast was a standout, soft and delicious with crispy edges that so few places seem to manage. It’s deceptively difficult to achieve the perfect French toast but Petit Tresor came close. It made me wish that the toppings were simpler; less overwhelming and dominating. More complementary toppings could highlight how well that toast was cooked so it could be better appreciated. We also tried the dough cakes, a similarly generous serving and flavours as the French toast. In the same way we felt the French toast shone, so too did the dough cakes; they were big, cake-y and cooked through. They were what every diner hopes for when ordering dough cakes (as distinct from pancakes) and so rarely receives. The toppings were similarly sweet and rich, the mascarpone really was to die for but perhaps more refinement and a bit of simplicity would have highlighted how well those dough cakes were cooked.
BEST CAKES AROUND! Reasonably priced, beautiful presentation and yummy!!! The team here also do a delicious breaky :)
great place, and a little hint of france in the heart of South Melbourne.
The food is delicious, the staff are warm and friendly and the coffee is excellent.
My compliments to the chef (whom you can see working) for producing such delicious food so consistently.
Of course you must check out the sweets and pastries (since it is a patisserie after all) - they are to die for.
Enjoy the bonus of eating them with your eyes before you indulge in the handcrafted delicacy, which is almost a pity to eat ... almost.
Great coffee, delicious food and welcoming staff! This is a great place to go to when you want to have a nice quite brunch with your family and/or friends! The food options are so varied, going from pastries, biscuits, cakes, sandwiches to a full-on breakfast! Simply Delicious!
Got the Le Petit Gourmand which is basically a big breakfast for $19.50. Below the $20 price point and delicious. Only criticism might be that the eggs we're slightly over cooked but still easily 5 stars. Coffee was delicious, $3.80. Everything else about the place is nice too. Highly recommended.
Our family celebrated an early Mother's Day yesterday at Petit Trésor. We have been going there for brunch every weekend since a while now. Their Mother's day special dish, which is a Brioche french toast, was just finger-licking good! Presentation was very elegant too. The perfect dish for any mum!
The individual cakes are amazingly good!! I have tried almost all of them.. they all taste as good as they look! Their Ultime cake is my favourite.. perfection! Coffee is great too!!
The sandwiches here that are fresh are absolutely delicious my fav is the chicken, they look small but are super filling. All the desserts and even their whole cakes for special occasions are amazing!!
