A hidden Korean-Chinese eatery near the city. It looks very suspicious from outside but spacious and cozy inside :) Known to have the most authentic Jajangmyeon (korean style black bean noodle)! Khan-Jajang ☆☆☆☆
Most non-Koreans get Jajangmyeon but I highly recommend Khan-Jajang. It's similiar to Jajangmyeon but with more veggies/meat/egg. It is more rich, creamy, and flavourful! A huge portion - almost enough for two people.Trust me, instead of getting other dishes, stick to Jajangs and Jampongs here. (PS. Highly recommend Korean-style Sweet and Sour Pork as a side!)
hidden in a little passageway nearby carlton gardens, i knew i had to try han guuk guan sometime! i've never had jjajangmyeon before and didn't really know what to expect but for $14 oh my god the portion was huge. i struggled to finish it by myself and felt a bit sick at the end as i feel as though the overall taste was quite one dimensional. it has a strong salty, black bean taste but then is also quite sweet. i think there needs to be some heat or acidity added to make it more balanced.
i was given 3 side dishes as well which was really generous! the first one was some thick jelly noodles with a bit of spicy sauce and spring onion, served cold. then some kimchi and overly sweet candied potatoes and onions. suuuuper worth it for the price and felt like i was in korea! seems family owned and just had a wholesome vibe. defs will come back sometime - also accepts sosure!
A well hidden gem!
Went here with my cousin as the cravings kicked in from the last time I had these two dishes at another restaurant. She recommended this restaurant and I’ve also heard about this place from a few friends of mine.
we ordered the jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk.
Pro: HUGE portions, like when they brought out the food especially the tangsuyuk I was so shocked! It was so big that between the two of us we struggled to finish it. Although I was starving after working that day too, I couldn’t finish it. I think we overestimated ourselves. I really liked the tangsuyuk and it’s sauce.
Cons; the jajangmyeon noodles were different. The usual noodles is a little more on the thicker end but it was very thin noodles. I was confused because shouldn’t this dish usually have a side of pickled radish?? They compliment each other and balances out flavour
Service: staff were helpful and welcoming. They were busy the time we came in and was lucky to have a table available for us because I was honestly starving. The food wait wasn’t too long so by the time it arrived to the table I was ready to get stuck in!!
i love this place. it’s a homey, hidden gem with very authentic korean food. the customer service is amazing and the atmosphere and vibes are exceptional.
Was introduced by my best friend to go this Korean-Chinese Restauarant. The portion is large with the affordable price, overall food is good! Will be back for next time!
A hidden chinese-korean eatery near the CBD.
Been here a few times. The place is quite spacious, and it's more like a home than a restaurant. Really cosy atmosphere, and on a weekday lunch time there was almost no one, all we could hear was the kitchen noise. Staff was friendly and food came out reasonably fast. I also like that they have a bell on the table (i wish all restaurants have this).
Jjajangmyeon was pretty good. Compared to the one at Korchi city, the sauce is less strong which was a letdown but still overall it was a great combo of sweet and savory. I really like the texture of the noodle though, more than Kochi's. It was very smooth but was nicely chewy.
The yukgaejang was also yum. Nice portion, good amount of meat, with sweet potato noodle and some veg. I like the amount of spice and the overall taste of the soup. Definitely one of the top yuk gae jangs I've had. This comes with rice and for $9.5 this was a steal (lunch menu).
Fried dumpling was decent. It was nicely fried, taste was decent, good portion and served with dipping sauce which was pretty yum.
Had their galbitang which was really warm and portion was satisfying, with good flavors and tender beef.
Side dishes includes kimchi, braised potatoes and carrots, pickled onions to konyaku jelly.
( follow for more!✨)

Truly a hidden gem. Got recommended to Han Guuk Guan by some friends who have been coming to this place for sometime now.
Portions are huge, so worth ordering a few dishes to share. Delicious and authentic Korean.
A hidden gem! Love their jjangmyeon, the black bean sauce was really delicious, it was the best one I’ve tried. The tang suu yuk was another favourite. It wasn’t crispy, but it was perfect with the sauce. The sauce can be a bit too sour sometimes, but if you add a little bit of the black bean sauce, it tastes much better! The cheese buldak was just ok, but wasn’t bad, and the portion wan’t as big as the other ones. The jjangmyeon and tang suu yuk have definitely become my comfort food.
Solid 4 stars. Off the beaten track, a little difficult to find. Good Korean-Chinese food with big portions and the prices reflect that. Portion size would feed 2 not so hungry people or 1 very hungry person. A good dish would be the sweet and sour pork and the jajangmyeon.
Came here from Perth hearing great reviews from two friends. I'm so glad we decided to check it out, the black bean noodles are so delicious. We ordered the sweet and sour pork and fried rice to go with it. It was enough food for three people but I'm regretting not having ordered a second bowl to take on the plane with me!

REVIEW:
Han Guuk Guan is a cosy restaurant, which screams authentic Korean food. The menu is primarily labelled in Korean, with the descriptions the only part that's English. Photos of IU and her soju sponsorship on the wall by the stairwell, and conversations in Korean happening all around you by the patrons. Han Guuk Guan isn't trying to impress you, it's just trying to feed you a good meal.
Food is homely, and good quality. For less than a $25pp feed between 3 people, we left pretty full. I typically don't like black bean noodles, but I didn't mind HGG's rendition of it. Likewise for the boneless chicken, which I found crunchy, crispy, and finger-licking good. The stew was quickly demolished, along with the bowl of rice.
Hidden inside the alleyway and this korean restaurant was truly a hidden gem in city! Food was very delicious, tasted so authentic!
Surprisingly good. Cute hidden away place. Try the black bean noodles and the seer and sour pork. HUGE servings.
Hidden Korean Chinese style food. Great dishes include jjampong spicy seafood noodles. Jajamyung black bean noodles and fried chicken.
Fantastic Korean restaurant. Some different and interesting dishes.
Hard to find but worth the visit. Will be back again.
Have heard about this place from a few reliable sources so decided to try it for lunch today. So glad we did. Great food, awesome service, spotlessly clean, generous servings, reasonable prices. To top it off, the location of this place is like a sanctuary in the middle of the city. Looking forward to trying their other dishes.
Pretty good jajajangmeon and decent fried chicken.
Best Korean Chinese Restaurant ever!!
Very delicious food and friendly service.
The fresh seafood JJAMPONG and Premium Pork Sirloin TANGSUYOOK, GANJJAJANG is so yummy. Prawn KKANSHOSAEWOO is my favourite. Wow!!
Our year end special dinner was so great.
Thank you.
