Tandoor Indian Cuisine

Wanted to try out some new Indian places in Fitzroy and had heard good things about this joint from a couple of friends. Went here with a couple of mates last Saturday and was very impressed. It's a BYO at current so we brought a couple of wines along. I had the chicken tikka and the veg. platter. The chicken was amazingly flavoured and had the authentic tandoor flavour. The veg platter had an assortment of vegetarian entrees, which was really nice as there were four of us so we all got to try the assortments. They were all well cooked, perfectly spiced and served with lovely tamarind and mint chutneys. For mains, we had the Butter chicken, Lamb Roganjosh and Aloo Gobhi. The chicken and lamb were very tender and beautifully blended with the herbs, which weren't too intense yet not too subtle. The Aloo Gobhi was nice and tangy and was catered to a spicy palate as requested. Was very impressed by the customer service. The waitress was lovely and attentive. The ambiance was fresh and upbeat. I've tried many Indian places and this definitely trumps them all. I will definitely be dining there soon again.

Tandoor looked like a gamble on a pass-by. The place was empty. Eating in a restaurant when there is only one other table seated introduces immediate scepticism, though we arrived shortly after it opened that evening. Our trepidation didn't last long, as the dishes were ridiculously amazing. Fully recommend this place.
