I walked in this place around lunch time to try there food. Apparently it's one of those placing with dull lighting and soft music. As soon as I walked in someone acknowledged my entry with a smile and helped me through to a comfortable seat.
I ordered there lunch Non veg thali which I would say was nice. It came with butter chicken, lamb curry, dal and raita with rice and 1 naan. It costed me $11.90 and I think most of it was good. They took my feedback in the end if the food was good, which tells me that they care.
It seemed to me like that decent place type which has ok ambience, food is above average, staff is good and pricing is alrite.
Very happy thank you! We had takeaway - the service was quick and food was delicious! Menu log online booking system worked really well too!
I've eaten here about 6 times now and have really enjoyed it. The naan is perfect - fluffy and crispy. The peshwari naan is the best I've had anywhere in Sydney. Good curries too, I'm trying different ones each time and haven't found anything to disappoint yet. The value is reasonable, usually around $20 per person, and they always use tender meat not horrible cuts.
I'm surprised others complained about service, I always found the staff pleasant and reasonably attentive.
Good restaurant with quality food. We have tried veg and non-veg food which waa yummy. I like to taste thali as I heared its good deal there.
India on a plate! That pretty much sums up what a thali is.
If you've never had a thali before, it is an Indian meal of saffron rice and naan with a little bit of various vegetable and meat curries, raita and salad. Each bite gives you different taste and texture. You literally have all the flavours of Indian cuisine on one single plate! If you haven't had Indian food before, this is the perfect meal for introduction. And oh, prepare to use your fingers if you want to go traditional. Hands are not just for high fiving but also for tearing down the naan and dipping it in the curries.
If you're keen in trying this out, Neelam in Parramatta offers both non-vegetarian and vegetarian thalis as a lunch special for only $12. That's a bargain! Non-vegetarian thali comes with two meat curries and one vegetable curry. While the vegetarian thali comes with the three vegetable curries.
On our visit, we ordered the non-vegetarian thali (of course!). The one we had came with butter chicken, lamb rogan and lentils curry. The chicken was flavourful and great with naan. I don't like lamb, but Neelam's lamb rogan was just so good I just can't stop myself from munching. It doesn't have the smell of lamb that turns me off. A spoonful of safron rice with lamb rogan is simply delightful. The lentils curry carry extra heat so best to chow down a couple of the salad to cool down your tongue after the lentils.
This is a no brainer for me. We will definitely come back to Neelam to try out their other dishes.
We tried makke di roti and sarso da sag here - it was delicious! It was served with lots of yummy butter - had very authentic Punjabi taste!
My first time being in Parramatta and it was definitely a good choice to have lunch here. I would say this place is a... Diamond in the rough!
The restaurant is pretty descent, interesting choice of music playing in the background and nice table setting covered with paper.
Ordered the lunch special- Vegetarian Thali
As seen in photos you'll get three types of curry, a little pickled salad, rice and nan.
Curries were good as expected and...
their Nan... is soo soft and DELICIOUS! I have to come back here to try other dishes!
We have had dinner quite a few times and also ordered from here. Each time the food has been good with handsome portions, and when delivered came within the time they said it would take. The ambience is also nice and service friendly. The lunch thali is quite good! Overall seems good value.
The restaurant provides great taste with great Indian masalas. Veg and non veg both the options are available. My fav is desi murgi, palak paneer, chicken kadahi masala and cheese garlic naan. They cook to the customization also like less or more spicy etc.
This place is never too busy and sometimes the service can be a little slow, but the food and cocktails here are great - Fresh, affordable, value for money, authentic and delicious.
There is some room for improvement here and there.. like, they can work on their presentation and decor.. but by and large a great place for Indian food. This business can do so much better and has great potential to grow.
Would recommend everyone who loves Indian food to check this place out.
Great food, good environment. There is a bit waiting time until you get you food , specially during the pick time. Staff are also very friendly. Definitely worth trying if you are in Parramatta.
Went to Neelam Restaurant on Sunday, it was really quiet so they took our order instantly. And service was quick.
Food taste good. But I find menu little bit expensive.
Payment: Both Cash and Card. Minimum card payment is $30
Location: Walking distance from Parramatta station
Cleaning: Good
Service:Good
Pros:
Perfect location. Staffs are cordial & agile. The vegetarian food of garlic Naan, shahi paneer & dal fry was very tasty. The best Indian food I had in Sydney from a restaurant in the past 3 years. Quantity is very generous.Price is excellent for the quality.Fresh food & choice of being healthy as I did not see excess oil in the food. Will eat again 100%.
Cons:
Nothing.
Ordered takeaway and we enjoyed it. They customized our order (mild as possible) and have great friendly service. Definitely recommend the chicken biryani and chicken 65. We will be back!
This is one of the best Indian restaurants that I've tried in Parramatta. We came for dinner after getting a flyer given to us. I loved the food. The garlic naan was delicious. The cheese naan wasn't as good, but still nice. We also had the butter chicken and the prawn curry. The butter chicken was so creamy and tender. The prawns were spicy, but not too much so. The sauce was thick and rich for both dishes. I would definitely go back. I'd love to try a few more dishes. The service was quick. They seem to do good business, though we did not have to wait long for our food. They have a $30 minimum for EFTPOS, which is a bit annoying though. The setting and decor are nice too. It's set up in such a way, as to dampen some of the noise that you can get in a crowded restaurant. Despite the fact that the place was almost full, it wasn't loud or difficult to hear. Good prices too. I'll be back again.
