It’s was nice roasted coconut mango and blueberry flavour. I’ll try another flavour next time. They open till late. Friendly service as well.
Was in the area and decided a sweet treat was needed! Located on New Canterbury Road, it is surrounded by lots of other cafes and restaurants so no need to get hungry around here! Service is very friendly and tastings are pleasantly offered.
As soon as you enter this gelateria, there is an abundant choice of dairy or non-dairy (vegan) gelati separated between two cabinets. Both had enticing choices and the non dairy options were just as attractive as the dairy versions so you don’t feel like you’re missing out. It is made in house and you can definitely taste it. Selected the Roasted Coconut & Mango as well as the Sicilian Tiramisu. Both were great flavours especially the coconut mango one. You could taste both natural flavours and would highly recommend that one.
This place has a nice variety of gelato and sorbet! They have unusual flavours like wasabi,balsamic..big applause for trying to be creative! We went with wasabi one and it was good! Also tried many flavours and the lady at counter was happy to assist! She was very friendly! If around, it is worth checking it out.
Very delicious and I loved that half of the flavours were dairy free! We had the roasted almond and black sesame. Both very creamy despite not having dairy and packed with flavour :)

Launching today in Petersham, Gelato Republic, is Michael Papaianni’s first ever gelato store. After learning to make gelato in Southern Italy, Papaianni has returned to the Inner West to present his own take on contemporary gelato.Rather than the usual temple of fluorescent light, Papaianni has created an upmarket dark and moody setting. The almost theatrical backdrop focuses your attention where it matters – on the two long cabinets of gelato. The first cabinet presents dairy-based flavours, while in the second there’s an equally big array of sorbets that are both vegan and lactose free. With staff handing out taste testers, I couldn’t resist starting with one of the more unusual sorbets – turmeric, lemon and ginger. It’s vibrant and punchy with a big turmeric flavour. It’s also surprisingly...
Thank you to the owner that kindly let us in last night as he was packing away!! Pregnant woman looking al over for a gelato and thank god we came across this! Absolutely delicious!
Being Italian and having tried some good gelato, have to say it has been a while that i hadn't tried one this good. Awesome, well done! Will be back for more ;)
Good new gelato place in inner west. The gelato actually taste quite good and have a very smooth texture. However they absolutely can improve on the display as some of the gelato was missing or not even refilled. Have a potential to grow and I will be back to try different flavours.
Excellent gelato ....we had 4 flavours, none of which disappointed! Very attentive lady in the shop made our visit memorable. Its very child friendly. They know how to do that extra bit. Will be back.
love this beautiful place more than anything, spent many glorious afternoons enjoying of fantastic rich flavours (many of which are dairy-free!). I highly recommend the black sesame and even the chocolate is decadent yet not overly-rich. Anyone who gave this place a low rating has no idea what true gelato is. We stan gelato republic.
My partner and I love this place! Delicious gelato in a range of interesting and changing flavours - often vegan options too. If it's available , try one of the combinations with avocado!
The flavours aren't Cow & Moon or Messina (other popular gelato shops near by, with exotic flavours), but they have all the classic flavours covered. It's nice to enjoy some gelato with the family, without lining up with crowds, waiting for a table or having people staring you down to give up your table.
