Was pleasantly surprised by this place.
This is my second time visiting this cafe again, and everything was better than I remembered.
First off, service was very friendly. They offered to explain/recommend the menu when me and my friend were indecisive on what to choose. There were just too many good options on the menu/specials.
They also checked in on us with how we are going on the food and drinks, if we needed anything more or if we are enjoying our meal.
For food, the fritters are one of the best I’ve tasted. It wasn’t oily, but overly fried but charred enough to be crispy and crunchy. The inside was so soft and full of peas 😋 delicious!
Coffee here is good too! I ordered the cold brew and thankfully it was too diluted even after the ice melted. The coffee here is strong and just brewed to my liking. The iced coffee my friend had was good too, not too sweet or bitter with the right amount of ice cream.
Hope this cafe will keep it up and bring it up a notch again when I come back to visit for the third time!!

Came here for breakfast and nestled into the lovely timber booth with a friend and perused the menu. If it had been warmer we'd have sat outside. Because we were a little hung over, we had the martini - at 11am! I know - save me! We needed protein so ordered the burger. Portion size was good. But heck it was good. Staff were so friendly and quick to serve.
Takeaway available. Dietaries catered for. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Pram/stroller accessible. Reasonable parking but it is one way to be careful. Plus parking inspectors are dynamite.
We had a great brunch here with coffee, juices and a cheeky breakfast martini.
I enjoyed the sweet potato waffles with slow braised beef and a deliciously oozy egg. My friends enjoyed the stuffed mushroom special and the salad for soul with grilled salmon. Really enjoyed the food and the service was great.
What a cool quirky cafe with an awesome name and menu! The outside of this building I love with it’s very own Denis on the wall out front and cool coloured walls!
The place inside is pretty big, a lot of space, it looks really cool and I like the way it is set up.
The staff were great. Upon arrival water was provided straight away. And a drinks order was taken.
I love the menu, it has a lot of healthy options as well as a few cheeky ones. They also have chicken as an add on which is a big bonus in my books.
I ordered the salad for soul and my friend ordered the bang bang chicken. The portion for both were quality. My bowl was bursting with green goodness with an egg and chicken.
It was all really really tasty.
Extra points for the Mr Men mugs on the table too

This place is a hidden gem! The cafe itself is just so lovely, relaxing - perfect for brunch! They are spacious -having both indoor and outdoor areas. We had latte and green juice to start. The coffee was good and the juice was refreshing! Then we ordered one special of the week menu - Sweet corn and pumpkin fritters, and two regular menus 1. Tapioca Pudding and Rosemary and garlic sweet potato waffle. Our favourite is the fritters that was served with cured salmon, Japanese seaweed, slaw and poached egg. It was so favourful but yet healthy! Love it!
The staff was attentive and friendly!
Thanks for having us!
Denis the Menace is a large and light-filled cafe somewhere between Cremorne and Richmond. I visited for lunch on a weekday, which was the ideal time to visit the venue. I was warmly greater and seated and served sparkling water from a flask as I waited for my dining partners to arrive. Once they did, a hot soy flat white was my first order. It was not super hot but otherwise great. For a meal, I tried the Salad for Soul plus a side of hash browns. The side was quite generous and the potato complemented the salad well. I appreciated that the dressing was made with tamarind, an interesting alternative to what otherwise could have been a citrus or mustard-based sauce. While it was nice to get a hearty dose of healthy greens, my favourite thing about the salad was the giant slab of haloumi that sat on top. Give me any sort of salty cheese and I'm going to be happy. My salad made for a very well balanced meal that I would gladly eat again.
Wow! This space was incredible to walk into. High ceilings and such a large open plan. Loved the vibe and the food! Unlike a lot of other cafes they have a huge selection of salads which are so tasty. A must visit!
Denis the Menace, tucked away in the streets of Cremorne offers familiar brunch staples as well as some more left-field, but delicious mains.
Amongst them was the Katsu Chicken, with its very recognisable, hearty Japanese curry taste. It was served up with a big splash of purple pickles, its appearance and plating differentiating itself from a more traditional looking Katsu curry that you'd find at a Japanese restaurant. Taste-wise, the dish matched its traditional rendition pound for pound with its succulent and sizeable portion of chicken making it a very worthwhile order.
My partner ordered the Running Late Wrap with mushroom and although undoubtedly healthy and packed with its filling of mushroom and scrambled eggs, it was a tad bland flavour-wise. Be prepared to make use of your knife and fork to finish this chunky wrap.
Parking was easy as there were lots of spaces out front. When we arrived, I didn’t think the place was too big but I was wrong. The space opens up beautifully with a variety of booths and tables. I really enjoyed reading the menu here and there were certainly a few things that appealed to me. In the end, I went with the Rosemary and Garlic Potato Waffles ($22), how amazing do they sound! Mr. B went with Ava Smashing Time ($22) and added extra eggs and toast..because that’s what he likes to do.
A large space with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, we immediately felt comfortable at Denis the Menace. We sat at the large communal table, and I loved all the greenery. Service was quick and efficient, and our waiter was extremely friendly.
The banana bread was plentiful and delicious. Being slightly toasted, it went perfectly with the ricotta on the side. Coffee was so good we grabbed a takeaway as we left.
We look forward to coming back for a more substantial brunch.
Big fan of this place. Have been here previously can say hand on the heart that their food is great. My personal go to recommendations are the chilli scrambled egg, and also the chicken salads. Their service is also on point and they are so warm to customers which is awesome. The ambience of the cafe is nice too and screams quintessential Melbourne. A cafe that is always worth the visit!
This cafe inside decoration is amazing. The seating as well. We had drinks there and it was as expected tasty and strong. The location is not that good but really it deserve a try. Although the services here is good and all staff were friendly. I do recommend this cafes for all
What a great space for a neighbourhood cafe! Many different seating arrangements and loved the booths! I went on the weekend which was a blessing with car spots on this little one way street. Has an outdoor area for your fur baby which is always a win in my books! Chose the big breakfast and it was okay- it needed some flavour and same for the Spanish eggs too. A sauce or dressing would have liven up the dishes. Coffee wasn’t too bad either! Service was okay and can improve with attentiveness too. Overall a good cafe to check out!
Firstly I love the name of this cafe! It does have a Dennis the menace painting on its front to which is really cool.
I didn’t expect this place to be so big but the interior is wonderful and really sets a tone for the place.
The food was delicious. Eggs poached to perfection which is always key for Me.
Great cafe tucked away in the quieter back streets of Cremorne. Trendy space which is fun, bright, open and relaxed. Inside and outside seating available. Menu is well covered from healthy, naughty and everything in between. Good for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Staff are friendly although not super attentive. Coffee is good too with a full selection too. Definitely worth a visit. Also one of the best smashed avo's I've had!
Good cafe. Was quiet-ish when we visited on a Thursday morning. Coffee was great and food too - tasty and well presented. Staff were nice and friendly.
