Friendly staff, good local setup; the iced mocha was great; the cherry pistachio and chocolate cake was fine, however the pistachio sponge could have been thinner. Bought the apple strudel, I like it, the apple flavour isn’t too sweet and well restrained; whilst hot cross buns are good and better with roasting in the oven. Good spot to visit, I’d return.
Feeling like a sweet treat on the weekend, we decided to stop by Zimt to have some afternoon tea. Our eyes were overwhelmed by the beautiful display of patisserie, cakes and pastries before us. Definitely some of the prettiest sweets I've ever seen, and each individual piece was decorated with so much precision and detail.
The staff were so lovely and quite patient as we took our time choosing from the sweets. Service was on point, and our coffee was fabulous. I loved the decor of the cafe, with several different areas to sit, we chose a comfortable lounge area by big windows. It was decorated with Christmas decorations when we visited, and it really encompassed the spirit of Christmas.
We selected a fabulous red velvet cupcake which was topped with a mini profiterole... so cute. It was rich and moist, and the frosting was delicious. I can never turn down carrot cake, and this was the prettiest version I've ever seen. So much flavour with the traditional carrot cake spices, and the frosting was light abd creamy. Our third option was a layered cake with a pistachio base, chocolate mousse and raspberry cream. This was so elegant and tasted sublime.
There is a huge array of treats that you can buy, including full cakes, tortes and tarts; as well as boxed cookies, fudge, chutneys, jams and sauces. A virtual treasure trove for foodies, with temptation at every turn. This was my very first visit to Zimt, but I can't wait to return to try more of the fabulous desserts.
LEnjoyed the yummiest cake from Zimt patisserie today not only was it stunning to look at but beautifully light and a really lovely flavour, highly recommend
We experienced a lovely high tea today where the service was great, the seats comfortable and the food divine. There was ample food per person with a great selection of savoury and sweet items. We were even able to take what we didn’t consume home! (There was so much we couldn’t finish it all - but didn’t want to miss out either!) There was a good selection of beverages available, and we were asked if we wanted additional drinks at appropriate intervals. I have experienced high tea at multiple locations in Melbourne and must say this was one of the best experiences I’ve had. Thank you! We will be back!
A really nice cafe to have some cake and tea. All the cakes are fresh and there’s a lot of variety. Serving sizes are also reasonable. I can recommend the carrot cake.
Zimt is in my hood: the ‘hood of magnificent plane trees, the boutique style Coles Local, and the middle class to those with a bit more, of Surrey Hills. Zimt has a great corner pozzie with outdoor tables to share with our puppies. My very favourite products are their sour dough loaves and baguettes. I never fail to have them on my dinner table when friends or family come around. But Zimt really specialize in all things baked: big cakes, little cakes and quite a few savoury pastries. We got a really pretty birthday cake from there a few months ago. This afternoon I just felt like Devonshire Tea for one, while I read a few pages and took in the rainy day view. It’s very cosy down the front facing Union Road. Tea is a real pot with real tea leaves, by the way. The scones are not huge which means you can have two and not feel guilty. They are nice and warm (by way of microwave) which gives them the tiny weeniest bit of chewiness as opposed to a crumble. In fact I might try them cold next time. Anyway, no big deal, everything was lovely- $12.00 of peace and love. Totally worth it! It’s one of those “happy places” you can always rely on their friendliness and consideration.
Best chicken and leek pie I've ever had in my life! Beautiful service and atmosphere especially on a cold winters day. The coffee is tasty and I'm excited to purchase all the amazing looks cakes in the window!
A nice quiet cafe with a good selection of cakes, pies and hot drinks. The atmosphere of the cafe is rather relaxing with nice sofa chairs to relax in. Love how they have the kitchen open so that you can see how the cakes are made and that they are really made on premises, not like some cafes say home made but actually homemade by a supplier. Cakes are fresh and the pies taste good with just the perfect taste of not being over salty or not enough flavour. The coffees pretty average tho.

Mouth watering desserts. Good coffee and lovely people. Dog friendly cafe with multiple options to satisfy that sweet tooth. Plenty of stuff to take home as well.
Just love this cute cafe in a beautiful suburban area. They serve coffee from Campos which I love. The service is amazing. Very quiet and relaxing, perfect place to have morning coffee.
Nice cakes and pastries, reasonable coffee, but otherwise limited menu and the service was a bit blasé.
Our third time ordering the red velvet. My favourite cake from ZIMT. Also enjoy their scones with cream and jam.
I have never actually been to this cafe but a friend recently had a red velvet cake purchased from there for her birthday get together and it was amazing! It was one of the best cakes I have ever tasted in my life, nice & moist cake with fresh creme, delicious icing on top. And it also looked beautiful as the centrepiece of the table. I will definitely be going in there soon to try some more for myself.
This Austrian patisserie has been around way before Surrey Hills became a local hot spot, serving some of the most authentic strudels in Melbourne as well as lots of gluten free goodies. I recently took my mum there for her birthday, we were treated to a high tea set of great coffee, scones with berry jam and cream, cupcakes, tarts and macarons. Loved ever bit of it!
Great service and delicious food. Highly recommend.
