Bills in Surry Hills was as I expected and heard it to be, really good. The food was exceptional with creative twists to basic breakfast options. Bit pricey for Breakfast but you can see where your money goes. Unbelievable service with staff regularly checking in for more water or if everything was good. Coffee was also great, only out of place thing were the water glasses, they had so many scratches and marks so that was a bit of a let down and didn't match everything else. Would highly recommend as the atmosphere is great both inside and out, lots of seating options as well, really nice cafe.
I’ve heard about this place but today was my first time dining in. It was pretty packed and we were standing in a queue but luckily they got us a table quickly. I ordered a hot chocolate and the famous ricotta cakes. It was delicious, not that filling but still very good. Amazing service!
Everyone complaining about they waited so much but please consider this place is famous with hot cakes and all other people also waited to eat there, if you are not happy you can walk through the street and have breakfast on other cafes.
Staff was lovely and super quick ! We got served by twins 👯♀️ they were such a nice ladies ! Welcomed us, arranged seats get orders !
Hot cake come with maple syrup and caramel butter ! That was epic !
The roll was simple but delicious! Good hollandaise sauce and watercress was freshening !
Only thing average was the coffees, not bad but not the best either.
One of the best pancakes of all time. Was very busy with many people getting takeout coffee and food but we were seated pretty quickly (10mins) and the hosts and servers were friendly and nice. Love the interior and vibes!
Had a really divine dinner here for my sisters birthday.
If you’re looking for somewhere that is not too fancy or onerous and has a good ambience, bills is a great place to go.
The entrees were particularly good. Strongly recommend the zucchini chips, tuna, and crab toast.
My main- the daal was a bit disappointing. It was cold and not super flavourful.
Overall, a good night out 💛

Bills cafe is super popular and has grown from its original Darlinghurst location to a few around Sydney and also around the world. Bill Granger’s famous scrambled eggs and ricotta pancakes bring people from near and far. This cafe has been on my must visit list for a long time now, but there’s always so many people waiting. An early wake up call thanks to our baby meant we were there on opening time and secured a great spot outside.
Staff instantly brought us menus and water and we began with a tea and coffee (by single 0) whilst we decided what to order. You can also order smoothies, juices, sodas, wines, cocktails and non alcoholic cocktails.
Kurt opted for the full aussie - complete with their delicious creamy scrambled eggs, sourdough toast, cumin roast tomato, herbed garlic mushrooms, pork, chilli and fennel sausage, bacon.
Although he liked his dish greatly, he was very jealous of mine. The broken tofu dish is unreal! The scrambled tofu is topped with shredded cabbage, chilli sambal, crispy shallots and toasted iggy's sourdough. This is an absolute must order.
The cafe were kind enough to do a single serve of the ricotta pancake for our baby. Lucky he didn’t want much, because it meant we could eat it. Light and fluffy, and topped with the honeycomb butter, they are superb.
A stellar cafe and somewhere we will definitely return to.
Really cute and warm little area but they pack you in like sardines when it's busy. The staff were quick to greet us at the door, find a table for us and we're overall friendly and polite. The food was good but I think they could benifit from slightly larger portion sizes for the cost of the menu. I think the hotcakes are actually a pretty decent value and definately worth trying. I would like to go back another time to try some of the items on the menu.
