Booked for 4 people on a Wednesday night. Was seated quickly. The blinds were down and heaters in which made it nice for a winters evening with still having a view of darling harbor. We wanted a bottle of wine and the staff were helpful with tastings but none of the bottles were to our liking. We each ordered one drink or glass. Selection was small for reasonably priced wine. Ordered share plates for the table. Roti, spring rolls, curry, mixed vegetables and noodles. Portion sizes were small and other than the curry, the sauces were not very flavorful. Missing ambience just an open room with no decor and cheap tables and chairs. For King St Wharf I had expected more. Ended up being $75 each. Was okay but would not visit again.

Service is good. Tables spread out. Good food. Great sauces. Did find a piece of tape in one piece of food so they replaced the food and gave a decent discount. Good banquet offerings.

I tried the $25 chicken laksa, and the broth was good, but it was definitely not worth the price tag. For $25, you only get chicken, tofu, bean sprouts, coriander, and rice noodles. The size serving is good, but where are the other veggies? Where's the fish cakes? Where's the hokkien noodle? You could easily get a laksa else where with all the mentioned toppings for half the price else where.
Flavours are good but not worth the price tag.

Thus one has been on my last for 5 years since I first went there.. and yes I am glad I was able to go. Limited menu for the vegetarians but perfection of flavour in all of them. Szechuan Eggplant and Savour Otak are my favourites. We also ordered roti canai and salt/pepper Cauliflower. Will go there again for sure.

Absolutely delicious Malaysian food at this Sydney institution. Delightful staff and the Kapitan Chicken is not to be missed. The lychee martinis also hit the spot!

Has been a firm favourite for many many years. And after a lockdown with limited travel, it was so good to be back enjoying the views of Darling Harbour and a wonderful lunch. Had the Popiah, Szechwan Egglant, Duck Curry, Chicken and my all time favourite Prawn Sambal .... I'm still salivating - feels just like home food, back to Singapore and Malaysia devouring Nyonya cuisine.

Firstly, the view is great and the service is great. No complaints on that.
The food was average/ bad. We had a set menu for NYE 2021.
The Duck Lemak was one of the worst dishes I’ve eaten in a long time. Me and my partner could not stomach it. It was a piece of duck with some weird coconut cheese sauce on top. It was not supposed to be cheese sauce but it tasted like horrible fatty canned cheese sauce. The duck was really fatty on the outside and super dry on the inside. The texture was horrendous.
The curry was plain. We had curry fish and prawn rendang. For what we were paying for the food- the curry wasn’t worth it. Pretty average.
Pickles were soggy, entrees were basic.
It would have been a better experience if the food was actually good

Had the set menu on NYE absolutely loved it food was all fresh and tasted lush. We had the wine flight as well and they complimented the food. Service was superb and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend and cannot wait to come back and visit again. Hands down best meal experience in sydney

I went with my Family. Few items of the menu were not available, food was just about okay, presentation was poor. Apart from the view nothing much really. I wont recommend this place. There are much better restaurants in the same lane.

My son had been to The Malaya before and loved it so much that he booked it for Mothers Day - so my husband myself and our son went and had the set menu for lunch.
The food was absolutely superb atmosphere good and the service was excellent.
I can tell you we have become very fussy as we have aged.
I keep telling my husband that he has become a grumpy old man.
But must admit we have both become quite disillusioned with eating out.
We are now retired and frequently go out to eat as a weekly outing and have become constantly disappointed with not only the food but the poor service in so many Restaurants these days.
So thank you so much and really appreciated the special touch of getting a box of excellent chocolates for Mothers Day at the end of the meal.
We will definitely return.

My favourite restaurant- fantastic food, we haven't ever been disappointed with a dish (the salt & pepper prawns are a fav), the service is always beyond expectation and of course the location is beautiful... would happily recommend to anyone!

This restaurant really knows its business. Wait staff excellent - Attentive, knowledgeable and courteous. Food outstanding - we lived in Malaysia and Indonesia for eleven years and know S E Asian food very well.Apart from an understandable lack of serious chili in some things eg the peanut sauce, the food at Malaysia is truly five star. Highly recommended

Very nice restaurant, vibrant atmosphere on Friday night. Food was awesome. That was my first experience with malayan cuisine and they give it a good name. I would definitely recommend it and myself would repeat this experience again.

The service was unacceptable. The management was extremely direct and rude. I asked for my table to be changed because I was starring at the glaring sun (I was even wearing sunglasses indoors) yet management was not sincere, provided no empathy and did not acknowledge my poor experience of Malaya. He was abrupt in his approach which is not customer service 101.
Overall very disappointed.

Food was amazing as usual but the set menu had such little food. One plate to share between 6 people is pathetic. Haven’t experienced this before. Disappointing when you have to prepay for a large group and pay a group surcharge.
