Review Nawaz Flavour Of India - Sydney

Fiona Choi
I am not the kind of person who likes Indian cuisine, however, the food at Nawaz is incredibly flavourful and absolutely delicious. Their chef’s specials had the perfect amount of spice. Their portion size is generous and the prices are actually very reasonable considering how good the food is. I forgot to take photos of the drinks we ordered, but we particularly enjoyed the nimbu pani lemon drink. There were plenty of staff who were all professional, friendly, and helpful. The atmosphere was very comfortable and is good for both a romantic dinner or a family gathering. Thank you, Nawaz!

We recently visited Nawaz Flavour of India for my mother's birthday. The staff were so helpful and the service was excellent. The food was amazing, especially the Lamb Mince, Goat Curry and Tandoori Cauliflower. Everyone had an amazing time and I would highly recommend this Indian Restaurant to friends and family.

Best dishes are from their chef special menu: Tried Goat Handi, Kadai Paneer with plain naan. It was amazing, had good service by staff Raja

Garlic cheese naan, butter chicken and baramundi curry stood out. In general food is good but a bit small in portion. Service was very slow at the beginning but got better as the crowd started to leave.

Decent Indian food. Fairly standard menu and good quality. Have had better but still worth a try if you’re local for good Indian fare in the area

Went here for a Sunday lunch. I was so impressed with the service and the food. The food we ordered was so flavourful and they were kind enough to make alterations for us. Would recommend dining here!

Very welcoming staff and food is also very delicious. We just tried palak paneer garlic naan and tandoori ghobi this time but will definitely be back next time to try something new.

We ordered first time from Nawaz. Food was mouth-watering, Only Biryani was overpowered by garam masala taste. All Tondoor dishes were excellent. We orderd from menu log and it took more then one and half hour to reach but definitely worth the wait.
Marianna Tuccia
We ordered the banquet menu which costs $35.90 and included either a mixed entree or a veg entree, a main, rice, naan or roti as well as pappadams and condiments. It’s very good value and the food is delicious. The highlights for me were the butter chicken and the vegetable korma (both pictured). The roti was disappointingly undercooked and the service seemed something out of Faulty Towers. We laughed about it at the end of meal but it was certainly frustrating whilst we were trying to eat. #nawaz

This is one my first Indian try out within Glebe. Very quite and elegant place with decent menu options to try out. We ordered two mains chicken and lamb and both were quality dishes. The restaurant stood out for taking special request for a non-menu dish (Biryani) on that particular day. Keep up the good work lads and definitely recommend this place for a visit.

This place is just amazing! The staff and atmosphere are incredible, the restaurant is set out so you don't feel crowded.
The menu is huge and I have sampled plenty of dishes over the 7 years I've lived local and every time it's mouthwatering.
BYO only which works great too
An absolute must visit for me.
Ketaki
What an amazing place. We booked a last minute table at 10.30 which was accepted. They were extremely courteous, always smiling and took care of all our requests.
Will recommend this place to everyone. What a gem of a place.
Foodtastic
Great food! Nearly everything is great delicious, chicken biryani needs a bit more chicken though, also more of that delicious chilli chutney.
Some waitress was very rude . Tonight, I ordered take away on phone, a lady answered the call and didn’t know what is Lamb cutlets , until I explain to her it’s lamb chops. And she said “ 25 mins” then hung up the phone straight away without saying any polite word as thank you or please ! So rude!

Our go-to Indian place for the Inner West. Can hardly ever go past the Kadai Chicken it’s deliciously mind blowing!!! The staff also are always so friendly and chatty. This place never lets you down!

Ordered a couple of dishes - Chicken Achari and Prawn Tandoori - from Nawaz, while the Chicken Achari was palatable the Prawn Tandoori had zero taste and was full of colour - my fingers are still tinged red from handling the food!

Nawaz served very nice Indian foods with different kinds of meat, and also a good option for vegetarians. I’ve tried the Lamb Rogan Josh, Handi Goat, and Lamb Dopiaza, and I couldn’t pick which one my favourite is! They cooked the lamb really nicely. The restaurant has also very polite and friendly staffs.

After reading lots of reviews on zomato and on Google which were all 5 stars and positive had to visit this restaurant which was away from my home. But it's yummy indian food was too tempting to resist. So we planned a visit on Easter Sunday for dinner. Such a lovely day to go out.

After two modes of transport and a walk we reached this restaurant. It's seemed to be small at a glance but the ambience was feeling at home and cozy. The decor was minimal. This was a house converted into restaurant and it felt If I had to someone's house not a commercial place.

Coming to the food we were started with mixed entrée which had chicken, lamb and veg. It was good in taste only the quantity was little less as we considered it to be a platter. Before our starters we were given a salad.

Next we ordered balti lamb from the chefs specials along with plain and garlic naan. The lamb was perfectly cooked, soft and yum. It went very well with the lamb.

For drinks we ordered beer and white wine can't remember the full name but it was a bit sweet and went very well with the food.

Service was good too and the servers were attentive too.

I wish places I love to eat and want to try more were closer home nonetheless lovely place to eat yumm indian food.
The food at Nawaz is incredible. There is an exceptional range of vegetarian meals to please every palate. The service is second to none. Thank you Nawaz for a dinner to remember! We will be back!

consistently good. we've been going here for over eight years, and have never had a bad meal. staff are always friendly, though on really busy nights they could sometimes do with extra floor staff. recommended.

Roshan Rajbhandari
Excellent food. Staffs are very friendly and attentive. Handi goat, lamb dopaiza, cutlets, they are simply awesome. menu is not pricy at all.

I've been coming to Nawaz for many years. It's probably one of the most underrated restaurants in Glebe. It's hardly ever packed (I was the only diner tonight), but the food is consistently good.
Tonight I had the Subzi Beef (which is basically a Saag but with zucchini slices), the saffron rice and a garlic naan. Everything was very good.
Service is a little lacklustre, but they get the job done.
Note - you need a bit of patience, the kitchen is a little slow, but it's worth the wait.
Subash Arunachalam
Very good tasty Indian food in Sydney. Clearly you can taste Indian food in here. Sad part is that they serve Briyani only on weekends and you have to prebook it 1 day early if you need on other days. Its not so pocket friendly but it's good & staff are real friendly.
Peter.allum
Easily the best in Sydney I've tried. Knocks darbar out of the park. If your in Glebe and like a good curry you have to come here! Pictures will follow on next visit!
Ritika Bhattarai
One of my favourite fine dining restaurants in Sydney. Awesome staff, delicious food and beautiful interiors. The service is so quick and nice. Always feels good to be here. A must go venue in Sydney.
Global Foodie & Filmy
Hard to review. We ordered take away. The entre of tandoori gobhi was not cooked mushrooms and tandoor paste was raw.. Almost spat it out. Then had palak paneer... One of the best I have eaten and great pilaf with nuts and sultanas but with colour in it?!!!
Bharath
Each and every dish here is up-to the expectations, good work keep going. Good place to hang around in Glebe, as the caption says it's Flavour of India .

Google search for 'Best Indian Restaurants Inner West' lead me to Nawaz. Off we went on a wet Friday.
Ordered lots for two people including Samosas, garlic nan, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and beef vindaloo as well as rice and more. We were stuffed by the end but really did enjoy the food here. The spice levels were good, they weren't shy to spice. Garlic nan was friggen delicious. Hot and steamy and garlicky, just yum. Everything else was good.
Service here is great. Well done.

The food was outstanding - every dish tasted fresh and full of flavour. We had the tandoori lamb which was served on a sizzling hotplate; tender, spicy and delicious. The staff were all very helpful and attentive. With generous portions and reasonable prices, we left feeling very satisfied. We will be back.

One of the nicest places I have been to in Sydney! The food was exceptional, the place was cozy, and the waitstaff was knowledgeable and friendly. I was impressed by how fresh everything tasted.
Devika
Been here with friends after a long and tiring day. The food was amazing. Chicken tikka was perfectly cooked and the spices balanced the flavour perfectly. Since all of us were Indians, we wanted all the dishes to be matching the Indian standards and to our surprise it certainly did!

The service staff was excellent and friendly. Recommendations given by them were certainly commendable.
It was an amazing experience to dine in with Nawaz.
Will surely visit again!

If in Sydney , and if u like authentic Indian food taste. U must dine at nawaz Indian flavor. The service is fast and the food is out of this world. The manager has taken the taste and service to 5 star level keeping the price in check. The serving crew is fantastic. Very well trained at courteous.

This place has amazing food and and extremely great service. The location is a very clear and convenient location. I also think the food is priced really well compared to other restaurants.

Very nice spot off bustling the bustling glebe point road. As always we may have ordered a little too much but we wanted to try a few of the dishes on the menu. We ordered the mixed entree($14) which was a combination of lamb cutlet, chicken tikka, samosa, pakora, a vegetable korma ($15) with a nutty cashew sauce, butter chicken Marsala ($17) and a garlic naan & raita. Very enjoyable & staff were very attentive !

Best authentic Indian food to have in Sydney. This restaurant has certainly satisfied my craving for butter chicken masala and garlic naan. Lovely presentation. Tasty food. Happy tummy. Highly recommended!!! :)

A great Indian restaurant in Sydney. I recommend to try the taste of Nawaz for everyone. I have had the best Indian cuisine ever after I have been in Sydney.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Twenty-six years is a pretty good innings for a restaurant, particularly in Sydney’s fickle market. This Glebe restaurant, which opened back in 1990, was the original outlet of the Flavour of India restaurant group, which later expanded to include Edgecliff’s Flavour of India, Sydney's Indian restaurant to the stars (and the site of Michael Hutchence’s infamous last meal). After the group split, Nawaz was added to the name of what is also the oldest Indian restaurant in Glebe. Restaurant Manager Rajiul H. has been running this brightly painted restaurant for more than a decade. He’s particularly proud of the shifts to the menu that have happened over the last seven years, responding to the way we Sydneysiders like to eat. So expect to see a little flair with presentation on your Kerala Fish Balls ($15.90) which come with three different dipping sauces, and dustings of fresh herbs and chilli freshening up most dishes.Drizzled with duelling sauces (tamarind and yogurt) Palak Patta Chat ($14.90) takes spinach leaves, batters them in...

Had recently been to this restaurant for Friends get-together with large group of family friends. Although it did not seemed to be a large place in the beginning, that feeling faded later as the group was accommodated comfortably. The food was excellent both veg and non-veg. The portion of serves was generous on each item. Amazing food with courteous staff and great value for money. Your are the Best Nawaz Flavour-- You truely have blended the Rich flavours in your Food. Date night Wednesday evening. North Indian it is. Destination Nawaz in Glebe.
I have been meaning to try this place for quite sometime, but for some reason, never got around to it.
So tonight was the night.
The restaurant wasn't too busy at 7.30pm, but there were enough diners, dining at the restaurant to know that it's a decent place to dine. The service was attentive and friendly.
We ordered 2 vegetables dish and 1 lamb dish with a serving of rice. More than enough for 2 people. Good portion size and very flavoursome dishes. We ended up doggy bagging on dish as we didn't want to "waste not, want not".
This is one of the good Indian place worth visiting.
Nawaz consistently delivers delicious Indian meals. It is one of my favourite Indian restaurants in Sydney. My favourite dishes include malai kofta and lamb korma.

This has to be my favourite place for Indian food in Sydney. My favourites are chicken saag, mango chicken and butter chicken the only other thing you need is a lot of naan bread to sopping up all those great sauces because I guarantee you won't leave any behind.

I just love the indian food, time to time check different restaurants. Nawaz is very near from my home. Last night, it was new year for me, i went there with my family. They were very busy. The service they provided me was great, food was so delicious and staff was very attentive and helpful. We will definitely go to them again.

One of the best indian restaurant in cbd, sydney. Food taste is very lovely and, staff is very nice.
Andrew Greig
Fresh! Really tasty, healthy, fresh Indian!
We have only had home delivery but it was prompt, reasonably priced, and really well presented by a very friendly delivery guy.
Navin Shrestha
I have been enjoying the delicacy of this place since 2007.Most of the popular dishes i enjoyed here like butter chicken, vindaloo, chilli prawn etc has got the same mouth watering taste for all these years...and was surprised time to time with different new dishes. If someone wants to enjoy the indian delicacy i would recommend this place which is so close to city and for sure not hard to find a cab too heheh.Just stand in the main entrance in Glebe pt. rd then you can find see plenty cabs passing through there....,.,
Anna
I really enjoyed this dining experience. Food was amazing and didn't take too long to come out. The staff were great too, really friendly and attentive. Everything we had was delicious but the ultimate standout of the meal was the spicy calamari with tiger prawns entree in the chef's special. Sooo good!
Rohit Kumar
great indian food in inner west...heard about this through friends but didn't try before. this time I tried was awesome.. better than my expectation.. already I booked it for Christmas party. they have got nice private room just around the corner on bridge road....great Nawaz!
Rajiul Hasan
great food in my neighbourhood...I was there few times never disappointed.friendly staff and service. kadai chicken was divine. planning to throw a Christmas party at NAWAZ..cheers!
Claud88
Terrible Service, Rude Staff, Average Food. I try not to leave bad reviews but I was pushed to the edge with this place. I waited two hours for a main on a Friday night, the restaurant was not overly busy but the staff were more interested in talking to each other by the looks of things. After asking the waiter about the time it was taking I was told "ten minutes" - which really meant 40 minutes. I don't mind waiting generally but just be honest about the time. Upon leaving and complaining I was offered a discount for next time. What really annoys me is that they couldn't have really cared less, it was when I complained that I was offered a discount. I did not take them up on this offer, there are plenty of better options on Glebe Point Road
Mr Shawn & Miss Chicken
There are only three places left on the original list of Glebe eateries published back in 1994 when the area was considered a main eat street....Now with the extra prefix Nawaz Flavour of India. This was one of the first Indian restaurants I ever went to, and the first time I ever paid for a 'proper' meal out with my own hard earned cash!
Screw Top
Pretty ordinary . The butter chicken was burnt - I paid a fair bit for the meal. Wouldn't go back.
Cico Fat Cat
Pleasantly Surprised. We booked an hour advance on Friday night and really surprised by its good quality.
If you are looking for classic indian in a casual environment with a really reasonable price, this is the place.
Contrary to other reviews , our service (staff) was a five star - hope they keep it like this!
Nige
Have got take away here many times and was always very good. Visited the restaurant for the first time last night and had a brilliant meal! The chef's dpecials looked amazing but we only shared an éntree and had mains off regular menu. Curries were full of flavour and naan was best I've ever had!
They have a wine & beer list (v cheap) but you can also BYO for $2 (I think pp as we had a bottle of wine and a beer each).

I will be back!!
Theorangetiger
Flavour of Glebe. Best Indian restaurant in Glebe by a long shot. If you want a variety of dishes with a depth of spices and flavours, come here. I'm yet to have a bad main meal and have never been let down by ordering something I typically wouldn't. Have eaten here numerous times and the food and service is always excellent.

My only concern is the papadums, raita and naan, although delicious and essential accompaniments, are overpriced. Also while the Tandoori Oven part of the menu is delicious, portion sizes are small and expensive. If the prices were a bit fairer I'd be there weekly instead of every few months.
Gabrielle Kay
After waiting 40mins for take away when I was told 20 mins i was disappointed. Ordinary. Nothing special and butter chicken was burnt. Lassie served in a box. Can not recommend and won't be going back.
Rachel Booysen
By far, the best Indian around. no complaints at all. the butter chicken is so tasty and the lamb is always soft, tender and tasty. i even love the rice! we eat in often but the takeaway is just as good. highly recommend.
Whoisannie
Nice Indian dining. I love their nut naan and cheese naan.
Food was good and the Indian music sounds even better with nice service!
We ordered Fish Kerala which wasn't too spicy but smelled and tasted great. Chicken Tikka setting also looked nice with a tender soft quality of its self.

The restaurant is clean and comfy, I don't mind coming back again
Lisa
Ordered takeaway and they told me it would take up to an hour but ended up being 1hr 25min so service was a bit slow. The delivery guy apologised and explained it was a busy night.
Food was great, full flavour and my food arrived hot despite the wait.
Colin Barry
We love this place and regularly walk there from Pyrmont. Great Indian food and so well priced. Just good value.
Sean
Great Indian. Amazing Vindaloo will defiantly return friendly staff great service nice place to warm up a cold winter night.
Violet
Don't. I've eaten here twice because it's close to my house, and regretted it on both occasions. Absolutely tasteless food. $70 for food and tea no alcohol and no dessert. The lentils were dreadful, the eggplant pretty but bland. I was so upset I don't even remember what else we had. I dont know what they did to the bread but it tasted like chemically US "Wunderbread".
PatM
Best Indian Takeaway in Glebe. Nawaz is 'the' Indian takeaway in Glebe. In addition it's got a nice restaurant (from the looks of it - never eaten there). Generally 7/10 or better meals. It's not cheap, but not too expensive either.
Sorrento
Great food & service for good value. My boyfriend and I tried this out for the first time last night and really enjoyed it. We were a bit apprehensive due to mixed views on urbanspoon but found the food really tasty and the waiting staff very attentive. The portion sizes (mains) are on the small side/not huge but given the cost ($18-25) still pretty good value and definitely enough especially by the time you add in a garlic nan or two (they were huge!). Highly recommend the samosas!

Added bonus is they are both BYO and licensed so with a bottle shop just across the road at the pub you can't go wrong.

For $60 we had an entree to share, two curries with rice, garlic naan and corkage and couldn't possibly have eaten another thing! Would definitely recommend and we will be back!
If You're Gonna Do It Do It Rig
If you like charcoal go to nawaz. Nawaz used to be great. Not any more. The current economic climate seems to have caused a lack of protein in the sauces and my latest meal from there consisted of an endless wait with not even an offer of a drink while I spanned time in their restaurant. When I got home the peshawari naan had barely any filling in it and three raisins. Yes. Three. Skimping on fillings does not a happy diner make. The rest of my tandoori treats were so charred they were inedible. When I called to complain I was told there had been trouble with the tandoor. When I asked why I wasn't told this at the time and given a choice instead of having my burnt offerings hidden under a blanket of wilted greens there was no answer. What I did get was an offer of a credit for half the cost of my food. Half the cost when more than half of it was sub standard or inedible. The manager would not budge on this. Why would I want a credit for more food that would be more at home being cast into the ganges than put on a plate. I will not be returning to nawaz.
Sally Doran
Nawaz is our neighbourhood Indian and it is fantasic. Never disapointed food always fresh and tasty. Try the Mango Chicken.
GlebeGourmand
Great local Indian. Nazaw was excellent. The chef's specials were fun and reasonably priced. The babami beef (sic) was especially good. Recommended as a solid Indian in a convenient location.
Jaded
Having tried the other Indian restaurants in the neighbourhood, I am pleased to report that Flavour of India is the winner. The food is certainly flavoursome, the service quick and easy. The home delivery service is fantastic, too.
