Review N2 Extreme Gelato - Sydney

Tanli Deynega
Guys, I don't doubt that your ice cream is amazing, however, do correct the information about you on Google! We were the 5th people this day who asked the neighbor cafe about not-existing ice cream cafe. There are no working hours or telephone. Please, update info of you are not working as a cafe anymore. Thanks.
Jen Djuracic
Very unique and tasty flavours and a fun experience watching your ice cream get made. Its really rich so don't get a giant one. Also don't close to closing time. The staff seemed a bit surly that we rocked up 20 minutes to close and they had to get a mixer dirty. Nonethless I would go again. Get the extra chocolate injection!
Rattan Muttoo
Interesting concept on an old favourite.. N2 adds freezing agents to particular flavours to make your ice cream on the spot - it's definitely cool to watch staff making it but for $9 per cup the price is too steep for something that's merely a gimmick. In addition the limited flavours are a turn off and the final product while being ok on taste is definitely not worth the expense. Check out nearby Chinese restaurants in China town for authentic deserts.
Boosh (The Boosher)
Great place to hit up after a hearty meal. I love the fact that each time I visit the flavors evolve and the props get better! Place gets even better as they proudly support equal right marriage 😊. All in all, I always enjoy visiting N2 infact i was one of the first customers back when it first opened up. I still recall a funny looking dude dressed up in science clothing performing all sorts of magic tricks πŸ‘Œ. Keep up the great work. Only downfall its on the expensive side for ice cream but the liquid nitrogen makes up for it πŸŽ‰
Champ
Very amusing to watch the ice-cream being made with liquid nitrogen. The ice-cream were good flavour and consistent thickness, presentation was really good. Pricing is sort of on the high side $6.50 for small and $8.50 for regular. For what you get is sort of ok when compared to other ice-cream shops. If you are passing by this ally it's a must try.

Can’t go to dinner in hay market without dropping into this place! The best ice-cream around. Love the texture given to any order. Crunchy top with chocolate liquid .. yummy!!!!!
Merwyn Monteiro
Always a little comical fun and new flavours updating regularly. Pricing is steep for college and school students with these people regularly walking out after looking at the prices. Flavours are amazing and enjoyable.
Sam Hickman
Went back to N2 4 years after I used to go all the time. It hasn’t changed at all. Quality gelato prepared in a fun way. They’ve increased the speed they can prepare the gato, but quality remained high. Worth a visit, especially if you’re in the area for dinner and looking for a delicious dessert.
LP
Loved how they have new menu and interesting names for each ice cream flavours. This is the place I usually go with my mate to eat there whenever we feel like having something sweet and light. The staff was really lovely and nice.
The Next Rush
We actually had fries iced cream for dessert at our dinner venue but having been here twice now, its the theatrics of dry ice and syrup syringes with trance music in the background that reels anyone born under a rainbow flag in. Pretty ordinary choices - 3 cookies and cream thanks!
QueenBee
If you like nice ice cream, theatrics, belly laughs due to funny names, and feeling like you just stepped into a new universe, this place will blow your little socks off.
JDub
There's a good chance if you come here more than once, each time you've been here you would have tried a different flavoured gelato/sorbet! They keep you intrigued by the multitude of flavours and variations with the cool method of using liquid nitrogen to cap it all off.
HANGRYHUNGRY
One of my favourite gelato joints! Such a cute laboratory layout! Workers are dressed like scientists who are about to fuse together your ice cream. Prices are reasonable, generally about $8-$10 in a cup. They always come up with a weekly menu, that is creative! Their gelato’s whether milk or sorbets are super delicious! I am definitely a regular customer! Follow their fb page or Instagram for weekly menu’s!

You have to visit this place every so often as the flavours are constantly changing.
Some are a bit too extreme for me to try but most of the time I enjoy the flavours I've chosen.
It's also a nice novelty to di and see all the smoke coming out of the machines while they make your dessert.
Service has always been good and the wait time isn't too bad.
Located at the further end of Chinatown so is quite easy to get to.
Nice place to go for a dessert run with family and friends.
Prices aren't too bad either.
Aimee.
Such a cool place to go to. You can watch them make your ice cream in front of you. The nitrogen fills up the whole place with smoke which is something different. The gelato comes out smooth and silky- I had the pineapple one. Super unique and funky place.
Sean Conlon
The peanutbutter oreo gelato with the $8 fudge syringe haha
Amazing as always .
One of my favourite icecream spots in Sydney and a perfect choice for after dinner when around Chinatown
Mrs Foodie
Good enough gelato, but the taste is not all that different to any other regular gelateria. Definitely all about the theatrics of dry ice here.
Lily
Been here a few times when I’m in the area, and craving for really rich and unique ice cream flavours. This place is quite busy but fast moving. There is a small seating area inside and outside, but usually you buy to go. They change their menu regularly, experimenting with different flavours and ingredients. Do check it out if you are an ice cream fan!
Tanya
I love going to N2 for gelato! They come up with so many interesting concepts and each one never lets me down. This place is definitely a must try. Only thing is that it is quite costly so is definitely a once in a while treat.
Shelley
Staff couldnt work any quicker, they do an amazing job!! The Ferro Ice Cream is absolutely delicious, I would definitely recommend this place if your looking for dessert!
Eunifoodie
Very unique flavours - I love how they have special flavours for different holidays and events throughout the year. It’s pretty pricey though

Exhausted in the sun, found this lovely place and tried chocolate - caramel gelato and mango sherbet but both tasted toooo much sweet for us :( esp mango flavor gelato was too pulpy and thick to eat. The dec and design looked hype but the taste never did
A Guide For Your Appetite
Fun Atmosphere with Delicious Ice Cream

My wife and I visited this restaurant for a unique style of desert.....We heard about this spot from a friend who was bragging a lot about it so we decided to visit it ourselves.

I believe from what I heard was this restaurant was previously a children's play area but now converted to this cool industrial desert restaurant.

The main cashier and 'kitchen' is made of scaffolding and the seating arrangements are step ladders and construction chairs... you'll know once you visit this. It really is a fun atmosphere.

Aside from the above, they use nitrogen with the ice cream.. it is like you are in a science lab making ice cream. The kitchen is separated by a glass to help you see what really goes on. Kids are always front of the line so they can touch the cold nitrogen smoke.

Again 'Aside' from the above cool things about the restaurant....... they give you a needle which has chocolate in it. You can 'inject' it straight into the ice cream or into your mouth. Don't worry, it's a cooking needle not a syringe... there is no sharp or dangerous items at this restaurant.

the atmosphere is great, and service is great and the value is great... it is a good way to end a beautiful night in Sydney. Strongly recommend a visit.

This gelato shop is a bit "special", because the way they make the gelato is like doing experiments in a chemistry lab. The staff wear glasses and "carefully" do the experiment. This is the only shop I have seen in Sydney that uses N2(nitrogen) to make ice-creams, though I've seen a lot of shops like this somewhere else.

The shop is popular, especially on weekends. The reason why it is popular, in my opinion, would be that it is the only ice-cream shop in Chinatown, though the taste is not as good as other shops.Β
I tried their #Ferrero Reveal#, which is an ice-cream with mainly chocolate taste, a syringe of chocolate sauce, and some hazelnuts for topping. It's special but taste is normal.

They have outdoor seating. A good place to have a short rest.
Jacob Kennedy
A great twist on dessert, price reflects the extravagant way of preparing the sweets. A fun snack if you are in the area however personally would not travel for it
Rishab Mann
The hype ! The gig with liquid nitrogen ! The lab coats and plastic goggles ! Oooooooo... and in the end, all you get is Ice Cream / Gelato !!

Don't get me wrong - it's all cool and awe inspiring for the first time you see it, but at the end of the day, it is what it is - GELATO!

Versions of which can be found around 20 stores located within a 10 minute walking distance.

Taste - Pretty similar to the ones out there.

Choice of flavours - extremely limited (almost 4-6 flavours) !

Price - extremely high compared to the competition.

Waiting time - can be as high as 20-30 minutes depending on the "touristy" rush ahead of u.

Overall, once you've been there done that, I guess you're gonna think twice before paying double for a product easily available around the next corner !
Danielle Nguyen
I was lucky enough to try these in a few flavours. Each flavour was yummy in their own way. I was glad that they weren't too sweet. These are great in Summer!
Eating_Monster
Went there on a weekday afternoon. Only a few customers that time but waited for short 10 mins for my ice cream. Had their strawberry flavour ice cream. The taste was really normal. It's fun to look at them making the ice cream but taste wise was really normal. Or maybe I chose the wrong flavour?
DJ Oanne
My favourite icecream parlour in Sydney. Made to order gelato with a creative menu. The gelato is always full of flavour and immensely creamy. The add-ons for special flavours like the Creme brΓ»lΓ©e topping or the chocolate syringes also make for an interesting experience which you wouldn't get anywhere else. Please bring back the Duck egg Creme brΓ»lΓ©e with red wine toffee!
Leanne
Cool gimmick aside, this place makes some decent gelato. I tried the Brokeback Moment and really enjoyed the generous chunks of honeycomb evenly distributed through the ice cream. I'm not usually a caramel fan, but I loved it in this combination. The staff were really friendly and walked us through our options and their procedure too. Good stuff.
The Naked Food Addict
Quite enjoy N2 gelato. I feel like sometimes it's a bit of a hit or miss though... I've tried them out a few different times, and each time my opinion has changed. Sometimes the flavours are pretty average and don't taste like anything special, and other times they are amazing and creative and leave you wanting more
The Sydney Tram
N2 attracts gelato lovers through their brilliant laboratory theme with ice cream artisans dressed up in white lab coat, mimicking chemists/ scientists when they carry out science experiments. The white smoke fuming out from the gelato maker makes it so fascinating, yet so appealing for spectators to watch. The ice cream flavors change throughout the season, which is good if you love to taste different stuff, but also sad if your favorite flavor will not stay there indefinitely. The taste is milky rich and sweet (for lactose people), and I have to admit I hardly can finish a serving on my own. Or by the time I reach to half a cup, I have to hurry or else the ice cream would melt down so quickly. But you should also watch out your liquid nitrogen ice cream intake, your teeth might not like it so much in the long run.
Tokyeoh
Even though the desserts are a bit pricey, the flavours and presentations make up for it. The rotation of the flavours allow new ones to be introduced and is a really enticing factor of N2 Extreme Gelato. Their ice-creams don't disappoint and it really is appealing.
The Miniature Life
You can't really mess up gelato, particularly when you do the whole gimmick with nitrogen, syringe filled with syrup and tasty flavours. We tried the Bonjour Paris and Chocolate gelato, both of which came with syringes - salted caramel and chocolate respectively. Gelato was tasty, and I liked the different flavours, though would have loved to have seen some sorbets and fruity flavours. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed my vanilla and pastry gelato with caramel :D Service here was friendly and quick also!

βœ”οΈ One of my favourite gelato places!! It's a bit far for me so we don't go very often but when we are in Chinatown N2 is a must. Got the Rafaello flavour last time which was amazing but a bit sweet for me, and this time the Ferraro reveal which was definitely my favourite. Extremely good value for money, $8.50 for a massive cup, I couldn't finish it!

❌ The syringe was disappointing as I was expecting it to be Nutella given it was Ferraro flavour, but it was a chocolate sauce which wasn't the best quality.

Food: 4/5
Presentation: 5/5
Service: 4/5
Location: 3/5
Deasy
Visited here just today and it was fun to see the whole making process. Tbh, i always love to see foods made by gastronomy molecular process.
Tried their Ferrerro Reveal and the taste is amazing. Especially with the chocolate sauce and rice crispy on the top. Would love to try their Coconut Line Sorbet and Chocolate Mugcake next time.
Zoe Bui
Delicious ice-cream.
I was exciting to see how they prepare ice-cream
This shop is crowded most of time.
The price is also good.
Must try !!!
Rozz113
The ice cream tastes nice and there are a variety of flavours but the price has gone up. The ice cream melts quickly so you need to wat it fast if you like your ice cream on the harder side. I don't really like the syringe sticking into the ice cream but other ppl like it
Dxlche
We got the Red Velvet and the Ferrero gelato. The red velvet took a few minutes faster and I stupidly waited for the other one to take a photo so it had melted just a little bit. The cake was hot and the ice cream was cold, the white chocolate went really well with the red velvet cake.
The Ferrero was on a whole different level, after cracking the decadent chocolate shell it just felt like a giant Ferrero Rocher. Highly recommend this one.
This place is a bit on the pricier side but well worth
Vicky Bao
It is amazing that they allow you to see how the nitrogen icecream is made. This nitrogen icecream place is very popular and there is usually always a line. Flavours are changed regularly and the pricing is reasonable.
Ace
N2 is really fun for the experience they give you with their unique way of making gelato. The different options are all unique and delicious. Really fun experience and definitely a must do at least once in Sydney.
Amanda Nguyen
Really good nitrogen ice cream here. I really loved the popcorn flavour but the flavours are constantly changing... which is good as it provides a constant variety but it would be nice to have the popcorn flavour back occasionally.
Emma Lou
This place gets quite busy during the day and afternoon. The gelato is overrated and a tad expensive.
Positive: order didn't take long
Looks nice
Our Flower
The menu is simple but somehow still offers a "wide" range of options. I ordered the ferrero rocher gelato and of course, it tasted great. It was fun to watch how it was made and it was made very quickly.
Highly recommend that you visit!
Sophie πŸ‘‘
Love the creme brulee gelato here! It is one of my all-time favourite gelato stores with great texture, a constantly changing menu and amazing presentation. It is definitely worth a try, this outlet in Chinatown is not a far walk from Market City or Town Hall :)
Zoe Lang
I'm going to be honest and say that this place truly doesn't live up to the hype of it all.

Had the red velvet feeling so excited as everyone had raved on about it, but was very underwhelmed.

I like the creativity in the flavour choices, and as you stand there all the nitrogen looks cool as it flows out of the bowls, but I waited a really long time and I'm sorry guys, but it didn't deliver.

On a positive note, these ice cream take a very good instagram shot and look amazing as it is handed to you. 10/10 for presentation.
Leon
After trying N2 at Newtown, I dropped by its Chinatown outlet for other flavours. I tried the salted caramel ice cream and found that it was similarly bland and tasted more like a sorbet. Maybe it's just me but I don't like their gelato.
Genevieve
Pretty cool place to stop for gelato! They have some great flavours and they're always presented in a really fun way! I mean, who doesn't love a syringe sticking out of their gelato?! Nah seriously though, great place. Perhaps a little on the pricey side but still solid.
Igot99problemsandfoodisONE
I guess what drew me to this place was the fascination of how they make the ice cream & of course for the photo credits.

Long lines although the wait isn't too long as you send your time waiting watching in fascination of how they make your ice cream. Tastes ordinary they just present what the eyes want to eat...
Nem
As an occasional indulgence, I reckon the pricing is worth the exotic flavour combinations. I got the chocolate syringe for the first time ever (I know, very belated but it was only the second time I've ever had N2!) and I found the novelty to be quite fun (and yummy!). Had a blast pretending to inject myself - ah youth. I got mint cookie dough and it wasn't very sweet which was perfect. I did find that it melted quite quickly despite it not being very hot out but I don't fault it very much - it is afterall ice cream.
Polly Lala
The ice cream making process is always fascinating here but it seems to be getting pricey and pricier.
The combination of cake, frosting and ice cream is always a crowd pleaser.
It's always a delight spoiling myself to some n2 ice cream every so often.
Red velvet with cream cheese ice cream yum!
I've also had their warm Sticky date pudding variant which was also delicious but did get a tad heavy half way through. This would make a great share dessert for couples πŸ˜‰ or those who are massive sweet tooth's!
@burgersnbikinis
Love the creativity of this place from their menu board to their gelato! This ferrero creation was amazing! Chocolate hazelnut ice cream topped in liquid chocolate with rice bubbles and a syringe of liquid chocolate. It tasted old school like a chocolate crackle!
Jade
I really like this gelato bar. They make it on the spot using liquid nitrogen and there's always a good variety of flavours to choose from. There's always a line but it is well worth the wait!
The Dear Luncher
The Dear Luncher does not ordinarily go for desserts, but sometimes when he has the munchies there is a requirement to finish off the evening with something sweet. The Dear Luncher until this point had never experienced ice-cream as experimental and gorgeous as the ice-cream served here. Superb. There was a choc, peanut-butter variety of some sort that really rang Your Dear Luncher's bell.
FoodLuva
Unreal. We had the Ferrero gelato, and it was the best gelato I've had in a long time. Extra points for originality, these guys make the gelato using liquid nitrogen, and stick your ice-cream with a syringe filled with chocolate sauce. It's not just a gimmick, these things taste damn good.
Beatrice Bursa
Tried the nutella, and it was the bomb! The taste was not that sweet and the crunch on top gives a really good texture in your mouth.

For all nutella lovers out there, you'll love this!

Zomato_pasta
Nice novelty sort of thing, watching the servers make the ice cream, pouring liquid nitrogen, wearing their white lab coats and all this white smokiness pouring out everywhere.

Ice cream flavours are pretty nice as well and also that added novelty of the syringe chocolate.
P&K Tasty AF Adventures
Pretty good, smooths and creamy.... not sure all the fuss makes its better then normal gelato... think it's more of a marketing ploy. Worth a try.

Hello Miss May
It's always a treat to watch the N2 Extreme Gelato guys in lab coats whip up your gelato, made with Liquid Nitrogen. Not your average gelato, it is know for creative and fun flavours.Β

N2 is fresh, made to order with a wide range of delicious concoction to choose from.

My favourite was when the limited edition Scream Gelato came out, being inspired by Scream Queens. Cherry gelato filled with cherry chocolate fudge, topped with Persian flavoured fairy floss. What a treat!
Christiaan Jordaan
Once you taste N2's gelato there is no going back to other 2nd grade gelato! All the flavours are enhanced by their custom made gelato due to them using nitrogen- it makes all the difference. Brilliant and good value for money @ $9 a pop (you get the equivalent of 2 scoops).
NatashaK
I've only been to n2 once and as far as i remember it was alright. I was hoping they had the ferrero flavour when i went though they didnt.Β
I ordered their cough syrup flavoured ice-cream (which was a bit weird in my opinion) and my fiance got their salted caramel flavoured one (if it had a fancy name i can't remember it).Β
I didn't mind it however my fiance hated it and so we havent been back since. I did think it was cool the way they made the ice-cream though and i'd go back sometime.
Heena Sharma
This place is very near to home and we often go to give treat to our sweet tooth. Its is good and they have options though the idea is same for every ice-cream with different bases. They mention what is available on a board wall and chuck out which is over. I guess they mainly do mix n match to make something new evey now n then. I like to see while they are preparing the ice-cream when they put nitrogen a foggy wave comes up and they have signature serving way with a syringe full of choclate. Nice place, one should give a try for sure.
Pacc
Ate here 2-3years ago and barely had another go. Expensive for the small amount you get and melts incredibly fast. I remembered i had the creme brΓ»lΓ©e which was probably $7-8. Its nice but very sweet. Their prices has continually risen slowly since it opened and notice they put in less ice cream. Don't recommend.
Colin Lu
Great ice cream! They come out with different ice cream flavours every so often. I would recommend the honeycomb flavoured one. Although i didn't really find the coffee flavoured one all that tasteful.
Foodieperth
I love love love this gelato place so much! I've been here every time we go to Sydney- which is quite alot might I add. I get the ferrero reveal which is basically chocolate gelato with an oreo chocolate coating with a chocolate syringe. Sounds like alot of chocolate I know but it's very good. The only downside is that it's quite expensive. Well I guess it's made with Liquid Nitrogen which you can watch them do!
The Jax Blog
Now I've had nitrogen ice cream before but the injected chocolate sauce shot was a first! πŸ˜€πŸ¦ what a sweet treat to end the night at #NightNoodleMarket #GoodFoodMonth in Hyde Park, Sydney CBD
Lunch Pie
This was an entirely new experience for me. The novelty of seeing liquid nitrogen being used was pretty wow. Got the Malteasy. Super cute presentation. It came with a chocolate top and "syringe" of chocolate sauce. The icecream itself was incredibly smooth. A bit on the super sweet side is maybe the only reservation I'd have. Definitely keen to try the other flavours
OurSavourySundaes
Ordered a Ferrero Rocher Gelato from N2 Extreme Gelato at Chinatown.

Very interesting to see the gelato made, from the hazelnut gelato itself to the rice bubble and milk chocolate coating and the chocolate-filled syringe.

Within a few minutes the gelato was ready.

Flavour wise, it was very delicious. Components gelled together as if you were eating a Ferrero Rocher. Loved the hazelnut pieces inside the gelato and the texture of the gelato was another experience to be enjoyed.

In the future we will return to try a new flavour and another N2 Extreme Gelato experience.
Fare Comment
Aside from flavour, ice-cream has one other factor paramount to my enjoyment: texture. Although flavours stuffed with shards of toffee, or crumbs of cookie, or ribbons of pureed fruit are fun, for me, I crave an ice-cream that is like silk. At N2 Extreme Gelato (science lab come ice-creamery), their use of liquid nitrogen eliminates the formation of ice-crystals and results in ice-cream so silky it makes you want to cry.
Jen
Love love love! You can't go wrong with n2 when you're feeling in need of a sweet treat! The only thing I can complain about is the fact that we don't have one in Perth! Definitely one of my favorite places to go to in Sydney!
Fuu ĐiΓͺn
I've been to the Dixon st store all the time. My fav is sour cream chocolate which has disappeared. All others flavors are sometimes cool sometimes not so interesting (bare in mind it's $8-$9 for a cup).
The worst thing about this place is the staff, always rushing, not friendly, didn't repeat your order, and then...make your order wrong. This place is too small and always busy, waiting time is long. Music is so loud you can't even hear they call your name. I don't mind paying if I can enjoy good product but the atmosphere here is just terrible.
Asian Food Ninja
Bias Ninja!!!

Hello MATCHA!!!

Kat on kush is the name, matcha gelato, matcha chocolate, coco pops and evaporated milk on the πŸ’‰ with 2 waffle biscuits!!

I loved this, textually appealling because of all the components are there .... Liquid, crunch, crisp, soft, hard, cold and MATCHA!!!

Hope it stays long ... 2nd time here ...

Until next time .... Keep eating!!!!
Jmanchatty
Not that impressed, basically gelato with nitro used, maing process looks cool but taste wise it isnt that flash or amazing. Wpuld probs recommend to try to see what it looks like but overall woudnt recommend for the taste
Postcards From Peta
Not just a gimmick! An amazing theatrical presentation of ice cream. Flavours change, i have tried a few anything with strawberry or nutella is amazing.
Kellybeans
Always good fun to watch your ice-cream being made and the quirky flavours. Today we had the strawberry and fetta and the coffee frappe.

Strawberry and fetta was surprisingly good, almost like strawberries and cream but the feta was slightly salted which elevated the sweetness of the strawberry. The coffee frappe had chunks of honeycomb, which added a play on texture, unfortunately it seemed to be melting quite quickly.

With quirky flavours and playful add ons such as syringes and partnerships with anna polyviou, N2 is a great way to end the evening if you are in the area!
Perth Critic
Was fun to watch them make those liquid nitrogen ice creams. Such long queues and just 2 staff but they managed ok. Although not a lot of flavours to choose from, whatever they had was yummy.
Sarah&Gluttony
Who doesn't like fancy ice cream? Or flash frozen liquid nitrogenous gelato?
Only downside is the temporary menu :( I miss a few of their previous flavours
Sweetandyummie
They always have agreed menu and it's always fun watching them make the orders. The texture of the ice cream is great and the customer service is really friendly.
Mat
Super friendly staff made us feel welcomed. I asked a few questions about the options and one of the girls at the counter was very informative. I ended up ordering the cheesecake gelato. Loved watching the process of my ice cream being made! My gelato was very delicious! I loved the chocolate syringe addition lol it was some really good dark chocolate! Definitely recommend
Kabir Singh
My go-to place whenever I'm in darling harbour

As the name suggests the ice creams are made with help of nitrogen (n2) gas

The crowd and the lab technicians ( they look like them with their gloves and protective glasses ) just electrify the place

The flavour keep changing frequently but hats off to the tasting guy cus every time they bring the flavour spot on

So what are you waiting for!!!!! Go go go

Kuroneko Desuu
Nice and creamy gelato also the flavours were noticeable. Not too sweet and the extra sauce ( in the syringe ) makes it even better 😍. Worth the money must try !!
Grace
Milo Mofo : 3/5
Nuts Deep In Chocolate : 4/5
Brokeback : 3/5
Staff : 6/5

After a really appalling dinner thank goodness we decided to have N2. Above are a few of the things that we tried and they were all really good just messy to eat so be prepared. The staff was so nice and even made us laugh. So worth visiting.
Kerri
This place is a little hit and miss for me. Some flavours I've loved and some I've thought were very plain. So the constantly changing options is both a good and bad thing. Always something new to try (which I may or may not like) but never been able to have again a flavour I've really enjoyed.
Hungry Panda
N2 is one of the best places for ice-cream in Sydney. Creative and tasty, it is truly a unique experience one must have.Β

Price - $7-$9 for an ice-cream.Β

Ice-cream 9/10: absolutely amazing. Their creativeness is emphasised by their theme-based flavours which change per week, using crafty names to add to their appeal. The ice cream however melts very fast so be quick to enjoy it!

Method 9/10: N2 is unique because they make the ice-cream using liquid nitrogen, and you get to see the entire process behind a glass screen. Donned in lab coats and safety goggles, they get to work making your ice-cream, and the whole experience is like its from a sci-fi film!

Setting: 5/10 - only letdown. The shop is very small and dark and because of its popularity there are a lot of people who come so it gets very packed in the store. This might be a problem if you need your name being called out to collect your order.

Overall 8/10 - must go place in Sydney for ice cream gelato
Kevin
Went today, crime brΓ»lΓ©e and popcorn, at least 40 uncooked pieces of corn, and the other corn was chewy as anything, sure seems like another fad with unproven recipes, $9 in the bin, give me norgen Vaaz ANY DAY
EatLiveEat
Theatrical, over the top, ice cream 'attendants' in white laboratory coats... that's all well and good, only if the gelato tasted as a gelato should taste! There are certainly other places in Sydney where you can get far better gelato. Peep in for the theatrics, go elsewhere for the gelato!
2hungryysisters
I've been here a few times. I love n2 and its flavours, absolute fav would be the ferrero reveal and milo creme brulee! The broke back moment is also really enjoyable to eat.
Inside the store we see the nitrogen spread throughout the counter, it's really a fun thing to see while waiting to be served/getting your order!
Nancy
N20 is good however the icecream melts far too quickly. If you can eat it quick enough, you're okay and by quick enough I mean in a couple of minutes, however if not, you're going to end up drinking it. They do have some delicious flavours and I have been lucky enough to try a few. I think it's more the novelty of this place that attracts people and lets be real, who doesn't love icecream? However I would definitely chose Gelato Messina over this.
Butternut Muncher
So so so overrated. Got the rafaello, just milk ice cream that melted too quick with cold, rock hard giant chunks of fudge that didn't fit on the spoon. Could barely spoon it. And $9? What a joke. Don't bother
Howardwashere
The last time I came here was when some friends wanted to try it after dinner. I've seen nitrogen made ice cream by Heston and thought it was all too gimmicky and perfect for a quick money making fad. At the time I tried their Creme BrΓ»lΓ©e and immediately was impressed with how smooth the ice cream was but on the other hand, the flavour and texture resembled far too close to butter so it was like having spoonfuls of sweetened butter which was quite off-putting after you discover the resemblance.

However, the memory has long gone and I have stumbled across some interesting flavours they had on offer such as Milo on Instagram so I was due back.

Tonight I was tempted by the Pavlova but upon further consideration decided against it as what essentially pavlova consists of is sugar and egg white so I would be in the same dilemma as the Creme BrΓ»lΓ©e.I ordered the 'Cold Hot Chocolate' and didn't regret the choice. It was a chocolate gelato topped with whipped cream, chocolate sauce and a syringe with more chocolate sauce. The experience was far more pleasant this time as the chocolate gelato was smooth and velvety the was complimented perfectly with the whipped cream and chocolate sauce making seem like an American Chocolate Sundae.

I loved watching the team operate similar to a well run kitchen where every person had their own station and duty. There was no panic but simply hurried repetition of tasks they had done a million times before. The place was packed and yet they were able to churn out ice cream out of ice cream more efficient than a simple gelato shop! The impressive things to see are that some things are done at the last moment such as the sugar being torched for the creme brΓ»lΓ©e or the marshmallows being toasted by a torch that was there for that exact purpose. With this excellent system in place, this franchise would be able successfully replicate any of their products anywhere!

One of the most popular stalls at the Night Noodle Markets last year was N2 Extreme Gelato – this year, they’ve combined forces with Black Star Pastry, producing a gelato that recreates their famed Strawberry and Watermelon cake in gelato form. After queuing for a good 20 minutes (I’d highly recommend having dessert first to avoid longer queues), I ordered the Cake Smash Gelato ($9), which was served with the same rose-flavoured cream that the cake has on top, with a light sprinkle of pistachio and rose petals. Once you get through to the gelato itself, there’s a delightful surprise – freeze-dried bits of strawberry and watermelon are

Famous for their liquid nitrogen extravaganza, the gelato flavours at N2 are definitely an incredibly unique one. At times they can be intense but I've seemed to enjoy the ones I've tried. Make sure you check it out for yourself too!

I love N2. It really just depends on the flavours you choose, but a lot of the ones I've tried are pretty amazing and delicious. The only thing that is off putting is the high price - $8-9 for a small cup.

Not my cup of tea. Went when it first opened and all I saw was a fad which made use of the beautiful kitchenaid mixers when pouring the liquid nitrogen for show. (But then, my benchmark is Bo Innovation in HK, now that right there is real liquid nitrogen ice cream 😍). The consistency of the n2 "gelato" was more like unset cookie batter (I guess lots of people like that-?) much too sweet and much too sticky for me.

At this time, these are the best ice cream I've ever had. N2 have a very good mix of flavours and always is funny look the strange preparation of the ice cream. Worth try your options. Side note: Cool cotton lamps!!

I think this gelato is a little bit overpriced compare to the other gelato in town. Usually this place is quite busy so you have to queue. Their gelato is easy to melt but it's worth to tryπŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

I have walked past this popular gelato shop countless of times but have not had the courage to find out what the fuss was all about until many years after their opening. It looked a lot like my chemistry lab back in school - even the people working there had lab coats as part of their uniform. The use of beakers and cylinders added to that science lab feel.

Love the icecream here, however it got quite sickening. Would come back on a hot day, flavours are always different and staff are really nice

This is a unique place where gelato is made from nitrogen. The menu is always changing making it exciting to see what's in store next. The icecream does look pricey but the cup is stuffed to the rim and is definite to make you full. Some of the flavours are unique and very pleasant while others are plain or overdone making it a struggle to finish. One thing I noticed the icecream melts veryyyy fast so don't waste a moment.

First N2 experience. Banana split gelato (can't remember the name). Didn't really fancy the canned cherry. Rather they used fresh one. But overall, it was good

The dry ice misting through the line of N2 was the PERFECT entrance to what seemed like the Pearly Gates of gelato heaven. While I took a good 10 minutes to decide what flavour, the Passionfruit Meringue Pie reigned supreme. The passionfruit pulp gelato though tart, was beautifully balanced with the sweetness of the meringue. The textures of all elements including the cookie crumble; heavenly! A must-do!

Always love coming to N2 every week and trying out new flavours that they change up each week which always makes you look forward to what they will come up with next. You can also suggest flavours to make on their website. Although the lines are occasionally long and the wait for your little cup can be a little long it's worth the wait.

Quite a cool concept of making the gelato in front of the audience. I got the "kat on krack" and found it overly sweet but still nice if you have a huge sweet tooth πŸ‘πŸΌ

This place has great theatrics ! A treat to watch the Smoky Liquid Nitrogen! Whoosh !! What fun ! And the guys in their labcoats ! Looks like a fun chemistry class !
We had the Ferrero Rocher ice cream $9
Personally found it over rated . The ice cream was mushy , despite the liquid nitrogen ! 😞
And the syringe with the chocolate sauce , essentially served no purpose other than looking funky ! It was a mission to get the chocolate sauce out !

But was it a fun experience ? YES ! ABSOLUTELY ! But based solely on their ice cream .... Not that great ! Sorry guys !

This gelato bar has all the elements of what you would describe as... Novelty. From the lab coats, to the scientist goggles, and Oh! We can't forget the nitrogen and all the dry ice.
They consistently reinvent the menu with different flavours and concoctions. True to their theme of the whole scientific experiment and science lab bravado. However, unlike any other gelato bars, the price of their sweet treat are contingent on the creativity of the time. This is what I call justified creative price hike. Like they say, everything has a market, and if someone is willing to pay for it, it cannot be considered overpriced. After all, you go there for the experience and the short thrill of being a part of this genius invention. Truly, nothing is worth anything unless you believe it's worth it.
My boyfriend and I, truly enjoyed the experience of having fancy gelato on a Monday date night, after dinner, then walking to Darling Harbour whilst enjoying the eatable craft.
Look...if you want to treat your taste bud to a bit of banter and fun, this is the place to come.

I haven't been here for a while but noticed that the price depends on the craziness of the gelato you choose. Today I went for their frozen hot chocolate ($9) with milk choc gelato with cinnamon whipped cream, choc drizzle, choc syringe and toasted marshmallow. This seemed to be popular among the people waiting and watching the theatrics of their gelato being made.

Taste wise this is more my husband style but I did love the cinnamon whipped cream! While their flavours changes, they have kept the mango sorbet ($7) on the menu for a very long time which is really good with a strong mango flavour.

I love this shop! Love their ice cream! But I don't like the Q. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
