Review Belgian Chocolate Cafe - Sydney

Elisa Ngo
Had an amazing time thank you. I loved the idea of just sitting on the sidewalks just the nostalgic feels. It was a beautiful day as well great for sitting outside. Came here for a short lunch before we go do the harbour bridge climb. Food was great, and the mocha was delicious. I guess it was so good that a bee actually landed in our mocha 😅 it did actually happen, we balanced the bee on our spoon so it doesn’t drown. We got another spoon and continue drinking as normal and of course keep watching of more bees. Thank you

Beautiful little cafe in the heart of The Rocks. Coffee and food was so great I forgot to take a photo when it first came out! Highly recommend the smoked salmon sandwich (gluten free option pictured). Staff were lovely as well :)

Always an amazing experience. Apri and his team make sure we feel welcomed and valued as clients. Customer service is at another level and the dessert experience unforgettable!

Cherry Ripe Tart is one must try if you are after low sugar with slight sourish after taste. The well made tart is bursting with cherry flavours with a dash of coconut. Yum!

Good breakfast selection. Large serving. Great coffee. Amazing cakes! You even get free chocolates on the side! Definitely enjoyed brekky here.
Martin Jackson
Nice service, good but not great food, and a nice range of tarts and sweets. Kids enjoyed it a bit more than the adults, but there was not a lot to complain about.

The hazelnut chocolate is really good. You get to pour the chocolate into the cup by yourself. The bacon and egg burger is very nice.
Amy
Amazing customer service! I had a vanilla shake which was kind of bland but the cakes are delicious!

It was ok . Ordered chicken Brie sandwich and the avocado mash topped bread . Nothing extraordinary.

Have been a regular at this place for years. The belgian chocolate shake was really good but the iced coffee shake was disappointing. It was very watery and didn’t taste really good.

I came here for a hot chocolate on a rainy day during my lunch break. To my surprise, it came in huge jug, which was equivalent to 3 cups. Although the portion was large, this was the most expensive hot chocolate that I have ever had. If I come back, I won't order the hot chocolate unless I am with other people. It's too much for one person to finish. It is also very sweet.

Brownie and chocolate cheesecake were not good at all, couldn't finish them. Service is very slow and bad. Waiter was rude. Wouldn't recommend at all.

Mocha cost $4.30, it wasn’t the best I had.
Well, the drink doesn’t taste coffee nor chocolate, too much milk in my drink.
I don’t know what happened to my drink but for sure it wasn’t pleasant to drink
Mic
Cake is always decent but poor service. Cold and unwelcoming kinda feeling at the rocks. The Asian lady made coffee was kind and smiled to say goodbye.
Lovesfoodtoomuch
Not too overwhelmingly sweet berries pie

Love the dark choc and mint choc drink

Beware though, hot water is charged 25c per cup. Best to bring warm water on your own when having tea there during winter

I went there for an iced mocha and a flourless chocolate slice, I choose to take away.
The chocolate slice was really good, I recommend it, but they didn’t give me or offer me a napkin, fork or spoon so, it’s kind of messy.
The iced mocha was very disappointing, I couldn’t taste any coffee, there was a scoop of some kind of ice cream (I think it was vanilla) not blended at all, so it got stuck in the straw every time I tried to drink, the whipped cream on top was flavorless.
Even though, it’s plenty of options so I’ll go back for a new try.
Paying $5.00 for a standard coffee is fine when you have a good coffee and can select between house blends and single origin.
However it's extremely overpriced for franchise cafes serving room temperature coffee on rocky tables.

Great selection and pricing as expected. Service very good and friendly. Worth a visit! The cabinet cake selection was delectable. Great selection of chocolates to purchase and in a lovely location right next to the rocks market.

How delightful is this place.
Beautiful interior with giant Guylian seashells lording about the place.
You can order at the front and take away or be seated and get table service which we totally opted for.
It was a real challenge trying to decide but we landed on the macadamia and milk chocolate dessert for mr puddingcake and the 100% pleasure (which is only the most out of control name for a dessert I have ever heard).
And those desserts were out of control. BEAUTIFUL and insanely good especially the 100% pleasure which was basically a guylian mousse dome with some other creamy delight inside covered in guylian dark chocolate and gold flakes. Wtf was so awesome I’d eat that every day of my life if it wouldn’t give me diabetes.

Such a rip off! We dined here on a weekend and were charged an extra 10% above the already ridiculously overpriced bill, and for what? The service was terrible and the quality of the drinks we ordered weren't great either! In total, our bill was close to $18 and we ordered a hot chocolate and a tea. The hot chocolate came with a guylian seahorse in the mug and I wasn't told that the seahorse should be left in the mug to melt from the hot chocolate, I had to ask the waitress whether it was to be left it or not as she was walking away. The seahorse didn't melt properly and it made me question whether this was actually how the hot chocolate was meant to work. Such a let down, especially considering guylian is one of my favourite chocolates. I'll stick to buying them from the supermarket from now on!
Tanya
I like all the Guylian cafes in Sydney mainly because I really like their Mochas and I LOVE their chocolate cheesecake brownies. Like stop it how did you manage to combine the three best desserts into one super dessert I’m the happiest now.

Amazing Chocolateas. This beautiful Cafe at The Rocks in Sydney is a minute walk away from a spectacular view of the Opera House. The Hot Chocolate and beautiful chocolate desserts are sinful!
FrenchToast
Absolutely appalling service! Waited half an hour for a milkshake that was apparently late as it was only half made and forgotten about! The waitress showed no remorse and was extremely rude about it rolling her eyes as she took the drinks to be changed to take away cups. We were so frustrated to wait yet again for this process so walked out the door!

I cannot believe this! I dine in here order a chocolate cake and ask for a cup of hot water, and they charge me 1 dollar for the hot water. I was like what the ???
The food is good but I don't really like their service :(
SM
Food looks and smells great. Each individual item tastes good but together they do not create a great dish! Staff behaviour is quite cold. It's ok to go there once but I may not go back there

Avoid at all costs!! We were served by a surly teenager, and breakfast was cold and dissapointing. I ordered poached eggs on toast with a side of bacon. The egg yolks almost hard boiled and cold, toast was also cold. It was also $4 for a tiny rasher of bacon. Very expensive and quite disappointing.

Out of curiosity and recommendations from friends in Manila, we tried this chocolate heaven place near our hotel. Guylian offers mostly cakes and drinks made of their signature brand. They also sell pieces and boxes of the actual product.

The price points here are incredibly high but somehow justified with the overall price range in Sydney and the warm service by their staff. The place was a bit packed when we were around.

100% Pure Pleasure was their ultimate signature cake and we found it just okay. In fact, after a spoonful, we did not bother getting another serving. It's rich chocolate with raspberry coulis and chocolate swirls. Upon slicing it, the inside is a really sweet white chocolate mousse. It is covered with dark chocolate ganache as well. For 16.50 AUD it's overpriced for its unusual combination. We also found Chocolate Chip Cookie unsatisfying as it was frozen and plain.

Their 13 AUD Strawberry Tart, however, was delectable. It was simple yet adorable. It had sweetened strawberries surrounded by well-made cream, not too sugary. Another must have includes the Dark Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake, a nice medley of bitter sweet 65% dark chocolate with cream cheese and fruity sour raspberry.

For drinks, we all liked what we had together as a group. Hot Chocolate Peppermint had a nice refreshing taste while its Coconut version gives you a nice lingering back of mouth taste. Affogato was made even better with an extra dose of vanilla ice cream.

Is Guylian worth it then? Yes if you have lots of money to burn. We spent 90 AUD for this dessert stop. I find that a lot, do you? Your call then.

Beautiful little desserts that I return to frequently after a night out in the Rocks and Circular Quay - but only if I'm feeling like emptying my pocket! The prices for these beauties are unfortunately rather high for the cakes that lack any uniqueness. I mainly return for its convenience.
KATA
Really enjoyed the speciality macchiato I ordered, however it was really small. The icecream was decent but I don't think it was worth the price. Still a nice experience due to the location.
DB4SB
Hot chocolate was delicious. However, the food/dessert items were not great, overly rich and I'm a huge sweet tooth. Plus, for three items I was out of pocket $70! Wayyyyy overpriced...

The lemon meringue tart was one of the best I've ever had and the plating is so pretty. The service is very good and the ambience is quite romantic.
Leon
Guylian's hot chocolate and chocolate milkshake aren't as bad as what some reviewers have mentioned. They are thick, smooth and full of chocolatey taste. I would return if I had a sweet tooth. 😉
Truth Be Told Australia
We sat outside as a ship just arrived and thoroughly enjoyed our view. Coffee was really nice , ham and cheese croissant was fresh crunchy and good quality ham. Poached eggs and bacon was also good . Prices were also fair .
Foodbabyofmine
The service was awful! The two employees who served us were condescending, not smiling and tried to avoid eye contact every time I tried to catch their attention. It took me three times to ask for water until they finally did something about it. Seriously, we asked the waiter if he can seat 6 people upstairs but he said there's no space and we went there and there was space! The lazy waiter didn't even bother checking. He just said no. I had to tell him and when he was saying the flavors they have for ice cream, he was speeding through it like he's just over his job and he was giving me a mean look like order now or else! Definitely not a very welcoming atmosphere. Ice cream is consistent with the other branches like on George St. but you'll have to deal with the waiter and waitress' attitudes here! Tbh, if you hate your job, please don't take it out on the customers. The upstairs seating area lacked air conditioning too so it wasn't very comfortable and the toilet can be cleaner. I didn't have this problem at the Circular Quay and George St. branches. I'll just go to those and avoid this branch like the plague.

Hi i have been coming here for almost 7-9months as i arrived in Sydney the prices a reasonable compared to other cafes who overcharge sometimes for same thing as in this cafee shop.
The staff members are quiet excellent in service and friendly.
Most busiest time it's evening.
The management is quite excellent to.

I would recommend this place for business meeting during morning n midday hour's and at night for romantic evening.
TrufflePig
Our coffee and one small cake came to $29 and heaven knows how. The coffee was actually quite good. The black forest filling in the cake was overly sweet and tasted lolly-like as a jelly. Shame. They look so pretty! Great coffee. Nice staff. Just shocking prices.
Jose Alexander Louis
The place was very comfortable, we sat at the 2nd floor. The hot chocolate that my friend order is too sweet for us. The waffle was quite good, but the dark chocolate sauce is too sweet not butter enough for us. We also ordered this small tart which is nice.
Lily Lim
The food was great, but the service was tragic. From the moment we stepped in the servers looked down on us. I don't know if it was because we didn't look wealthy or white enough, but their attitude was chilly and borderline hostile the entire time we were there. Disgusting behaviour.
Issac_eatsalot
Passing by and actually stopped to get a coffee - was lured into the chocolate coated peanut cookie! Was quite nice, convenient packaging. Good value.
Picturesque Food
Guylian cafe is a great place to visit for a nighttime sweet tooth. Great desserts, however, I feel the prices are too high for somethings on the menu.

Stylish decor, great friendly service and smooth delectable chocolate goodies. Conveniently located in The Rocks just a mere short walk from Wolfies, so was the ideal dessert stop.

Had just been for a walk around Circular Quay and popped in to buy my wife some chocolates for our wedding anniversary as they do good Belgian chocolate. Whilst there I also decided to order a hot chocolate, made with real chocolate (a chocolate seashorse, and then chocolate poured in). It was absolutely delicious. The service was very good, they were very quick and accommodating. There is indoor and outdoor seating (I chose the latter as it was a nice morning).

Located in the tourist area of The Rocks, we stopped by here for some beverages as waiting for one of our party to complete the Blackmores Marathon. As it started to drizzle it was definitely time to head inside to get out of the rain!

Unfortunately the service here can only be described as abysmal. We waited near the doorway where it said to wait here sign. We were then told to move to next wait here sign as apparently we were blocking the doorway. Then we were completely ignored whilst the waitress kindly helped others behind us to find a table. We then asked about a table for ourselves and told brusquely that there were some upstairs.

Upon going upstairs we found a seat and then went to get some menus ourselves as the waitress upstairs was occupied with a few tables. It was slow going up there too so gave up on our original plan to dine in and went to get takeaway.

Once we go back down there, we then proceeded to order an Iced Chocolate, Mocha, and Chai Latte as well as some Guylian Praline Seashells. Our group thought all the drinks were extremely sweet even me when I have a sweet tooth. Prices were a tad on the high side too.

If in the area I would steer clear of here and choose other cafes that have both better service and drinks.
Truffle bite is creamy and was a delicious bite size chocolate. The coffee was great! There was plenty of treats to choose from and we got the chocolate macadamia mousse. It lacked in macadamia flavour but it was still delicious!

Hot chocolates, waffles and fruits are the best. Service is good and ambiance is nice. Nice place to catch up with friends. I prefer this over Lindt cafe.
Princess Greedy Guts
This is definitely a place for decadence, sweets & desserts. I love their hot chocolates (any flavour is good!) Thick & made with quality chocolate & comes with one of their classic shells or pralines. Treat! All the desserts are beautifully made & presented. Shared a baguette with a friend prior to all of our sweet indulgences which is very average. The baguette was dry & fairly tasteless. Staff are hit & miss. Some are nice, friendly & attentive, a couple of others not so much. Despite having so much sweets & chocolates, I had to buy some more to go. Greedy guts for sure!

The whole of 4 rating goes to the hot chocolate. Tried all the different hot chocolates. I am not surprised seeing why this place has so many outlets. Praline hot chocolate is my favourite. Even the location where these outlets are located are the right place for a cup of hot chocolate. Keep up the good work. Will keep coming back once in a while.
Randomness_of_existence
I always come here for dessert, never to have a meal. We decided to visit when we saw online that they did breakfast... I ended up getting a little disappointed as I thought it would be more hearty breakfast meals, but they were just pastries, waffles and pancakes. I would only come here for desserts from now on.

I would just like to leave a note to whoever in the management reads this but today I stopped by to get a peppermint hot chocolate, while I waited I decide to watch how the employees were. I noticed a girl walked in and was waiting to be served for at least 10 minutes, while she waited the blonde employee just stood out the back bit, then walked to the other end and started to drink coffee meanwhile this girl was still standing there not being served, the blonde girl then walked over and started counting what I assume to be tips, the girl still waited, before a tall brunette girl with blonde in her hair and stretchers or plugs in her ears notice as she was running back and forth from tables and went out of her way to go and serve this girl. You should be defiantly be giving that girl props for doing other people's work. Meanwhile other people came into your store and still the blonde acted busy and when she served the people she had no smile and didn't look to pleasant to approach. From an outsider you need more people like the girl with plugs she was always smiling and welcoming.

Went here for a midnight coffee a few days ago and realised that the little cakes, slices and muffins are to die for. Their "Pure Pleasure" really is just that - a beautiful rich chocolate panna cotta that's pricey ($13) for its small size but definitely worth it. And their huge mixed berry muffin is equally delicious and cheaper at $5.

The reason I'm only giving them 3 stars though is because I don't like any of their drinks that I've tried. I definitely wouldn't recommend their special Hot Chocolate though - too rich for my taste, but if that's your thing, go for it. I feel the same way about their salted caramel milkshake - it's too rich and makes me feel a bit sick - but if you know me then you'd know that that's just because I (usually) can't stand anything super rich. Their coffee is ok, but not amazing.

Service is great though - even at 10 mins before closing time which is about when we got there. I'd go there again for a late night snack, definitely.

4 of us came here for dessert after dinner. After trying to get the waitress' attention for 15 min to no avail, we decided to order at the counter downstairs- who sent us back upstairs to wait for the waitress again. Seems like she was catching up with some old friends. If they were truly her friend they shouldn't distract her. We ordered 2 drinks and 3 cakes. The iced coffee was disgusting! The bill matched our dinner bill from another place, it was expensive. We spent 10 min trying to get the waitress again to pay the bill but decided we should head downstairs to pay instead

Went here for lunch and orders the chicken baguette. Aside from the chicken being really really dry, it was not that bad. Also ordered a mocha and a hot chocolate. Both were delicious and tasted really nice.

It's a nice location to be in and has a lovely atmosphere to dine at.

I hadn't been to Guylian Cafe in over a year but I have always liked their chocolate eclairs and chocolate tarts. I went to The Rocks branch for breakfast and ordered a Belgian waffle and hot chocolate. To charge $9 for a hot chocolate is a little steep although the serving itself was pretty generous. A $16.50 Belgian waffle is another heavy blow to the wallet. I wouldn't have minded paying this much if the waffle was fantastic. I found the waffle a little dry and felt I was eating a piece of fancy cardboard. The only consolation was the vanilla bean ice cream and the rich chocolate dip which made eating the waffle a bit bearable. I should have listened to my gut (pardon the pun) instinct and headed next door to La Renaissance. I can't say I thoroughly enjoyed my waffle breakfast but the overall atmosphere was pleasant, the service was quick and friendly.

Dropped by the other day, decided to have two milkshakes, salted Carmel and chocolate Peanut butter, advertised at $12.50 each thinking they would be something special. We received two fairly basic small milkshakes nothing more than you would get at the local milk at for 4 or 5 bucks. Despite being $12.50 I realised when I left that 12.50 x 2 in this rip off shop somehow = $27.50.

So in summary a total Rip off for the milkshakes and they can't count. Seriously I've lived in Sydney over 30 years and these thieves are ripping tourists off every day with this rubbish.
Emily
$9 for an average berry tart. Not even plain custard in the middle - just artificially flavored, overly sweet berry cream. Head next door to La Renaissance for real desserts.
Frances Peters
Coffee wasn't that good, the waiter didn't know anything on the menu (we asked for one of each of the petit fours in the dessert window, and after 2 other people coming over to clarify we were served a lemon meringue and the petit fours?)

Menus were sticky, the petit fours weren't that good (the brownie especially was too dense and not very flavoursome).

Plenty of better places on Argyle St.
The Weekend Foodie
We ordered a mixed berry tart thinking its $9 ( as listed behind the glass display), little did we know that since we are dining in, we had for pay $13 for the $9 tart.. thats a little hefty... i mean an extra four bucks for cutlery and a seat? I dont think ill come back for over priced window display tarts again!

Merry Christmas to everyone.

Found a lovely reindeer chocolate cake on Christmas day

It was a quiet rainy day so we got a table straight away.
The staff was very quick to serve us. She was also very helpful with our order - found out they don't serve hazelnut ice cream anymore with the waffle. The salmon baguette I ordered was delicious. It was creamier than I normally have it but it was in a good amount and not overwhelming. I would've liked a bit more onions and capers but it was still good. The waffle as usual didn't disappoint. I think they have the best waffle in sydney. Will definitely come back.
The RnB Diary
8 of us came here after visiting the rocks. We all ordered hot chocolate plus 2 slices of cakes. Total bill was more than $100! I suppose that's the price tag for tourist attraction area.
Stephanie Angelica
Great dessert bar in the rocks! We walked almost the whole rocks area in search of a great dessert to compliment our dinner and ended up here.

The place is just filled with the most indulgent desserts it made it almost impossible not to order just one thing! It smelt like a chocolate factory that any child would dream of visiting!

We ordered white chocolate tart and a few hot beverages all of which where great!!!!

Staff and service were great and a Friday night atmosphere made it even better! Open till late too which was a bonus I'll definitely be back!

The Rocks Gulyian has the friendliest and most attentive staff I've seen. Simple breakfast menu, delicious Belgian Chocs and sweets. Coffee is also exceptional. The outdoor seating is great! Definitely coming back.

I experienced really poor customer service here last night. The waitress put my order through incorrectly and they failed to rectify the situation. I'd ordered a salted caramel smoothie in a kids size as I'd had a filling dinner just prior. When it came out, I was surprised at the size but didn't think much of it as it was obvious the waitress understood my order clearly. When she came back out when we'd finished eating and drinking, I said I couldn't believe it was the kids size and it was only then she'd realized she made a mistake. She apologised but didn't mention anything about how she'd correct it. When I went to pay, I was billed with the larger size and mentioned to a different worker there how they made a mistake with my order, but all he asked was "is it okay...?" - as in was it okay for me to pay for their mistake. Tragic customer service - first time here and it'll definitely be my last.
Sweetandyummie
I visited this place last night for a dessert event and I was blown away at the quality of dishes they have on offer at this store! I was in chocolate heaven and having the time of my life! I recommend every dish because that's how I roll when it comes to anything chocolate. The pictures speak for themself.
Hergen Buscher
I always defended the idea that waffles are of Belgian origin and they do it best.
Not any more!! Never had such a dry and tasteless overpriced waffle ever. $22 for something which tastes like it had been taken from the Coles priced to clear shelf and placed in a microwave for 10 sec. Yuck.
62totheworld
We had banana caramel hot chocolate which in a pot so we can share it for two.it is not a good choice to have hot choc and a choc cake, too much chocolate.anyway the raspberry cake is very good,yum..for the pricest it is much cheaper if we do take away instead of dine in but still okay price tho.
Joe
Taste like a normal chocolate drink, not any smoother. Not piping hot as well, the plus point is the views specially under a good weather. The waiter told me that we have to request for an extra hot if we want it that way. I order the Belgian chocolate and my friend ordered chocolate with coconut. I still prefer the pure chocolate taste. Did not order any cake since will go for a brunch at the restaurant nearby. Japanese or French? Hmm ... Can't decide yet lol. The cake at the patisserie next door looked good.

Guylian Cafe at The Rocks is a popular spot for a hot chocolate especially in the heart of winter right now. The desserts are nice and it's probably one of the biggest competitors to Lindt cafe - definitely check out the cakes if that's what you enjoy because they are delicious.
Carly
A cup of chocolate dipping sauce with strawberries and a selection of beautifully decorated cakes.
Mabelle Sy
Despite the forgivable sluggish service, I would still recommend this café to any tourist in Sydney especially after hours of strolling at the Rocks vicinity. Sampled their pastries (the éclair, the Opera my way, and tiramisu) and must say that these are still tastier compared to other popular coffee shop cakes and desserts. My 2 travel buddies and I all agreed that the Guylian Belgian hot chocolate was the best hot chocolate drink we have tasted in our trip. Best to dine al fresco on the iconic façade where you can view the cruise ship docked across the street.
Ilovepancakes
Not a massive fan of this place. I am the absolute dessert queen. A crazy sweet tooth.. And did not rate this place at all. It is pricey but with location and the name... It's expected. The desserts are extremely rich which is good if you like super rich desserts but I personally couldn't (didn't want to) finish the small portioned desserts. Rather get a soft serve w/ a flake from maccas.
Sandy Dey
Was here after a German dinner in a nearby restaurant. The desserts were excellent - one cant go wrong with Guylian chocolate for sure. Friendly staff and a good experience. Cant thank my friend enough for recommending this one.

Guylian Belgian Chocolate Cafe at The Rocks is a chocolate cafe along the banks of Circular Quay and alongside with the iconic Sydney Opera House. Beware, this place is a tourist trap!

Love the place, love the food but not really satisfied with the service area. Honestly, they are not friendly in the service department. So don't be surprised when you see lots of people have bad critics in Urbanspoon . Address: The Rocks 91 George St Sydney, NSW 2000 Cheers! xx The Journal of Two Witty Lasses

This afternoon I met up with a high school friend at Guylian for a long awaited catch up. We were blown away by the assortment of beautiful cakes and desserts – trying every single one would be a mission in itself, one that I can say I’m not reluctant to take on. Just not in one go, of course. So what would I choose? Tart, cake slice, something fruity, an eclair? Craving chocolate, I picked this devilish Praline brûlée tart ($9.50) while S had a chocolate mousse. Fortunately, it was not sickly sweet and I was able to finish it. To drink, I had an iced mocha ($8.50) which was exceptionally sweet. Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious and I managed to drink all of it but the cream and ice cream made it too rich. Next time, I’ll skip the cream! Both our drinks came topped with a few coffee beans which ate, but in retrospect, I don’t think they were meant to be eaten. Overall, this afternoon was lovely and our cakes and drinks arrived at the table quickly. When we made it to the cafe at hal

While a fabulous location, I have to say I was very disappointed about the whole occasion. The service was very poor, and they weren’t so busy to excuse confusing so many orders or making a customer wait 20 minutes for a cake already in the display cabinet, which merely needed to be plated. The flavour, texture and quality of the cakes need to match their perfection of the appearance. Good presentation alone will not get you anywhere.

Guyllian Belgian Chocolate Cafe was where we ended up and we sampled some of their hot chocolates and some savoury bites from the menu.

The savoury dishes were a Quiche Lorraine and a Smoked chicken baguette. Both were fresh, tasty and hit the spot. It is good to know that amongst a menu that is a diabetics nightmare you can still get some quality 'ordinary' food.
If you are thinking of where to go for a dessert in the city, or have cravings for chocolate …Guylian has many choices of chocolate desserts, ice-cream and drinks for you to choose from! Located at the corner of a row of shops along The Rocks, there couldn’t be a more perfect location for this cafe. It was in the middle of the Foodies Market and just a short stroll from the Circular Quay, with a nice facade that looked inviting every time we passed by. We were there at half past 4pm and the crowd dispersed a little by then, so we managed to get a table within minutes.

Guylian is like Lindt and The Chocolate Room - a great place for a calorie hit - especially after a meal nearby.

Service was the big let down of the experience, as I noted earlier, staff at Guylian like to hover, so much so that, I felt rushed throughout my drinking experience. The bill was quickly presented to us, well before we had finished our drinks (not taking an unusually long time I might add) and we were made to feel like we were holding back (which we

Guyliannnnnnnn... Oh, chocolate goodness.. Oh, Lindt, Godiva, Haigh's, Hersheys, Royce and so many more chocolate brands that you could ever think of. Originated from Belgium in 1960, sold in more than 100 countries worldwide, you may know their famous Guylian seashells too and they still remain faithful to their original praline recipe.. Counter and entrance of Guylian Cafe A range of various chocolate cakes and desserts We ordered two drinks for ourselves, a flat white ($4) and a Guylian dark hot chocolate ($7) which for some reason, I can only find the Flat White photo but not the Guylian Dark Hot Chocolate photo.. It it similar to the Lindt hot chocolate though, where you are given an empty mug and frother chocolate milk in a metal jug, with a square of Guylian dark hot chocolate placed inside the empty mug. Bit disappointing it comes in a plastic cup and not a metal milkshake cup or even just a normal ceramic cup? We didn't ask for takeaway or anything. Though it was quite delicious - creamy and chocolatey with chocolate flakes, and very filling!
Flick Your Food
We received our 2 tier dessert plate which looked fantastic! First thing we decided on trying were the heart shaped waffles. Unfortunately these were incredibly dry (like chips) and no matter how much chocolate sauce you poured on they didn’t respond to it and soften up.
Alex
And the best thing about them was their famous chocolate sea shells, which were said to still be hand-made according to their age-old traditional recipe, thus making each and every one of them unique!!

This waffle is light and crisp but lack the heavenly kick Max Brenner has to offer so go back to Max Brenner's wtf! :)

At Guylian's you have the hot chocolate in a jug and you pour it over a piece of chocolate. You also get a Guylian twistwrap chocolate on the side.

The hot chocolate is served with a Guylian chocolate seahorse at the base of the cup.

Chocolate is undoubtedly the universal language of love. Take a step back in history to 1960 where the lovers, Guy Foubert and Liliane, got married. It wasn't long until the birth of the famed Belgian Chocolaterie - Guylian

I'm not a huge fan of Guylian - their seashell chocolates are the consistency of soap and contain too much white 'chocolate' for my liking. I don't even like calling white chocolate chocolate because in my opinion in order for chocolate to be chocolate it

We stepped inside and I felt like a little kid in a candy store (or in this case, chocolate store). It was so beautiful. The cafe was brightly lit and I could see rows and rows of cakes and pastries.

after a lunch of pork knuckle what better place to fill the dessert section of your stomach than Guylian Belgian Chocolate Cafe (91 George St, The Rocks)? Less than 200m away the cafe is the perfect distance to stumble from Lowenbrau to chocolate heaven.

...Belgian waffles with seasonal fruit and, of course, a Guylian chocolate dip. The waffle was crispy and topped with a scoop of Guylian praline ice cream. The chocolate came in a separate cup which I immediately poured over my tasty waffles and fruit.

We whizzed through The Rocks and spotted Guylian Cafe. A local Sydney friend of mine actually recommended it for dessert the night before and we didn't have a chance to go then so I stopped to have a look. Much to my surprise, there were actually savory food options that sounded healthy!

We decided to scrap our plan to bake cakes for our combined June birthdays celebrations since we were so busy at work and just didn't have the time. So I thought we'll just get some small cakes from Guylian instead.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
It's nice to see venues in The Rocks gradually eroding the area's once-deserved reputation for tourist traps serving up overpriced and underwhelming cuisine. While this one's unlikely to win awards for anything other than chocolate, your non-chocolate identified companion won't starve while you indulge your favourite vice. If you can manage a morsel yourself, the Blue Cheese and Nashi Pear Salad ($22) with dates, pecans and a raspberry vinaigrette lines the stomach nicely. While the Quiche Lorraine ($15.20) was nothing to write home about, the Beef Pie ($15.55) won fans with big, meaty hunks of beef... ...and a side salad that didn't seem to know how late it was on a Sunday night. After surveying the cakes, we settled for a round of milkshakes instead. At nearly twelve bucks each, that's a whole lot of expectation in a glass. From the standout Strawberry Shake ($11.25) , to the Banana and Chocolate ($11.25) that tasted like a paddle pop of yesteryear, to the praline-rich signature Guyl

On a lazy Sunday afternoon, I met up with El to check out the Yayoi Kasuma exhibition at the MCA. It was a strange yet wonderful experience to enter the mind of a strange yet wonderful artist. After checking out the exhibit, we decided to head up to The R

Surroundings:.Outdoor seating with waterfront views, indoor atmosphere perfect to relax in and indulge in the chocolate heaven that awaits you. Liquid consumption: this was a surprise. I had no idea Guylian had a café until I stumbled across the place on

Poor service attitude. The cashier was reluctant to serve us and made us feel like we were intruding. when we got back to the hotel, we realised he also missed out one of our orders. eclairs were too sweet and definitely not worth the cost. my sister had a better experience with her waffles previously. however, i don't think we will bother with the other cakes.

I have never written a review before but after tonight's visit I felt compelled to. I walked in and waited to be seated as stated and nothing happened I then had to approach a staff member and ask if it was ok to sit anywhere. It ten took five minutes of being seated and me again having to get attention before I was asked for my order (no menu offered or given) I ordered food and drink and only received my drink another five minutes later I had to ask staff where the food was. This "service" continued the entire time in that the only way I was "served" was if I managed to get someone's attention. Despite the fact others came in and were promptly seated and given menus. When paying it again took over five minutes to get change as all SIX staff were busy cleaning at the other end of the shop. I would not recommend this place to anyone wanting decent or courteous service.

Good for coffee & choc. Was going to have cake but one I wanted was $13 so gave it a miss and had coffee and several chocolate truffles @$1 each. Couldn't fault either and the service was quick. Breakfast set sounds good too. Staff seem somewhat jaded or tired. Maybe they need a holiday.

Terrible customer service, overpriced food and drinks. We had just arrived at the cafe and we were clearly still deciding what to eat and this waitress was hovering over us like a hawk and asked us three times if we were ready, she was very rude. I'm not going to visit this cafe again

Terrible service. Bordering on rude. Staff looks tired and overworked. I ordered dark hot chocolate with soymilk. It was served very sour. I think either the milk or chocolate is spoilt. It was replaced though after deliberation as the staff is trying to explain that that's how it should really taste! I never tasted sour hot chocolate even if with soymilk!
