Love everything about this restaurant. As soon as you walk in, you’re transported to another place filled with delectable food, good music, cozy space and friendly staff. Definitely won’t be my last. Kudos to a well maintained restrooms👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Very happy to say that I loved the pasta here. The much-raved-about strozzapreti al ragu was heavenly, and the semifreddo hit the perfect balance of flavours and textures. I’m very proud to share my name with this restaurant and I highly recommend to all!

I have had amazing experiences at this restaurant. The service is unlike anything I’ve ever had the pleasure of receiving. The wait staff were fantastic. I love coming back to this restaurant for the delicious organic pasta. If you’re looking for the best chef and kitchen staff in Sydney, this is the place to go. The drinks were superb, the cocktails are so tasty. Thank you, will be back again.

A European eclectic interior enhances the already delicious suite of pasta mains. Portions are large and beg to be shared.

Thoroughly enjoyable pasta-making experience. The owner is approachable and fun; our class, who struggled and eventually succeeded in making linguine, angel hair spaghetti, and ravioli, was rewarded with the most delicious brunch and takeaway souvenirs. Unforgettable flavor and a memorable time. Highly recommended.

They didn't change their online menu to reflect their new one, so I went there for nothing because they no longer had the dish I loved. They also don't describe the dishes accurately on the menu. Then just the other day I go on the website, and they STILL haven't updated their online menu! To be fair, one of the ladies there was real nice about the whole thing, but for goodness sake guys, UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE! And bring that wonderful porcini mushroom fettuccine!

Really cozy and cute restaurant with a vibe that will remind you of holidays in Europe. All the decor says "I found my way here over the last 15 odd years". The music, plants and candles add a nice touch to the ambience of the place. You can tell a lot of thought and care has gone into this place. The menu has a lot of quality items on there using ingredients like truffle, porcini, prosciutto etc etc. It was tough to decide for a dish. The lady sold us the special starter which was a triple cream brie with a truffle layer, pear, honey and bread. Delicious ! All of us loved the dishes we received. One thing we noticed was that the service needs a little touch up. Our waiter was friendly but seemed a little clueless and ordered the wrong starter. I believe he wasn't 100% familiar with the menue items yet. We wished there would have been follow up on how the dishes were received as we would have definitely passed our compliments to the kitchen. Everyone was satisfied though the portion sizes could have been a tad bigger. The bill for 3 people came to $200. 1 starter, 2 wines, 3 mains and 2 desserts to share. Upscale prices for upscale food. Would definitely come back. :) We also saw there is a little deli in the back :)

Lovely food, wines, ambience and attentive staff. Feels like you’re in another country. We were a big group of 10 and had the set menu. The overall experience was really well organised and enjoyable. Recommend the orange cake for dessert!

Pasta Emilia is by far the most authentic and best Italian food in Sydney that I've had yet! The food is so delicious, the staff is incredibly friendly, and atmosphere is perfect for any occasion. I recommend Pasta Emilia to everyone who appreciates a traditional home style Italian meal cooked with love. The duck ravioli was a stand out! We even bought a jar of chili 'peperoncino' to take home. Highly recommended - loved it!

A lot of people in this competitive world of culinary arts boast making the best pasta .. The pasta here IS in fact the best I've seen. So homemade so authentic, still carrying the granular texture of 'it's just been made outback 5minutes ago' .. an experience of soft, fleshy, juicy and rounded full flavour of house made fresh pasta .. the duck ravioli was something I'd think about having as a last meal if I was on death row .. It's all good, it all comes out with that passion and authenticity

It was a wonderful experience last night at Pasta Emilia . I am Italian and I wanted to take my friend to have a fully Italian experience here in Sydney. But what we got was incredible !! The restaurant setting, the staff cordiality, the INCREDIBLE food that the head chef Martino cooked for us, the beautiful wine and the homemade limoncello to finish !!! We will come back and I highly recommend the restaurant to everybody!!

One of the worst restaurants I've been to. Waiting 45 minutes for entree then another hour for the mains. The salmon was a tiny piece of salmon with cold sliced potatoes for $30. The pasta was cold! Went to The Fiddler out at Rouse Hill a few nights later and the salmon was a decent portion: pan seared salmon, mixed quinoa, peas, red radish, baby kumato, lotus root chips & yuzu soy dressing, absolutely creative, delicious, and hot for $26.00! I can't believe you are still in business. For the $80.00 we spent we could have had a more decent meal at the local pub! Disappointed!

Gnocchi perfect! Efficient friendly service. Flavours on point. Fresh! Highly recommend.

I've found my pasta place in Sydney!! Handmade on the premises, organic, tasty and made with love. An authentic Emilia Romagna osteria in the heart of Sydney. Great ambience and attention to detail. Can't wait to go back and taste Anna's delicious food again and enjoy the warmth of this amazing place.

Operasphere had their christmas party there on wednesday night and had a wonderful evening. Great wine recommendation and uniquely styled food choices. Thanks so much for the staff and management for making our evening fabulous. J

Lovely warm atmosphere and delicious authentic Italian food. Highly recommend to take a pasta making class with Anna!

had the pleasure of enjoying a meal at Pasta Emilio last night with my mum & daughter. The entree was faultless; Burrata mozzarella with original Parma Prosciutto together with some rustic breads and plump, juicy olives. We shared two pasta's, the Tortelli all’anatra & tartufo al burro e timo and from the specials board, Strozzapreti with slow cooked duck ragù. We also enjoyed the Fagiolini e patate al aglio e peperoncino, Patate al forno e aioli and a light Insalata Caprese. Whilst the service was somewhat laid back and almost 'take away cafe style', the rustic atmosphere and delicious Fasoli Gino Prosecco La Corte del Pozzo made this a pleasant meal. Would come back just for the Burrata mozzarella with original Parma Prosciutto!

The best spaghetti bolognese ever...great piccolo...nice atmosphere and service was good...a splendid place

Brought a friend here visiting from America. The owner is always such a delight to talk with and the food is impeccable. Pasta Emilia is everything the Slow Food movement is all about! Love, love, love it!

Excellent service and excellent food. We loved every bite! Try the burrata and prosciutto. It's delicious! Also, everyone was very nice and gave great recommendations.

Quiet rainy lunch time midweek , only one other table and the meal still took almost an hour to arrive. Lovely decor but snobby, slow service, overpriced and very bland food (duck ragoo). No wonder the place was almost empty. Would not recommend.
Heidi Louise Perkins
Worst Valentines dinner ever. Over priced, terrible service & portions perfect for an underfed child. 12 waitresses on shift, yet not a single one attended to us, nor asked how the meal was. Feel cheated & out of $205 & still starving!!!!!!

A truly italian experience, best date night in a decade, romantic atmosphere, delicious dishes and amazing service.

Came here with a few friends on a busy Saturday and was amazed at the food. Pasta was made and cooked fresh on site which was perfect and they had an extensive wine list also Friendly staff and a great little atmosphere

This is the second time we’ve come and again bad service We waited over an hour for our meal with no one asking the whole time if we had ordered yet or given a reason why the delay. One waitress was particularly rude and ignored our table the entire night. Food is good but after this experience we won’t be recommending or coming back.Telling us that they were busy is no excuse! A restaurant is meant to service its patrons no matter what! We weren’t offered anything while we were waiting and later when the bill came there was no offer of complimentary drinks or dessert to soften the blow. Not going back.

Not sure why some restaurants put so much effort to looking pretty but forget why they are there. Yeh some pasta was nice. But it is as simple as this if you have 5 people at a table and your bread serving only has 4 tiny half slices of bread - throw another piece in. It isn’t going to kill your profit. Yep it’s the small but significant things that count. Don’t call it an Italian restaurant. It’s an embarrassment t to Italians.
Harry
It was very disappointing having ordered an organic bottle of red wine to have it arrive warm, indicating that their cellaring procedures are lacking. The tortelli was tasty, however the strozzapretti was over cooked and the servings were small for the price. We expected more from this establishment. I emailed the restaurant to relay our disappointment but had no response. Looking at the other reviews it appears that this is common.

I wanted to try this place for a long time because it reminds me a genuine Italian restaurant.
We made a booking but in the place where we were sitting we didn’t have much space and we were sitting one next to the other, facing the window.
We started with a caprese and then we ordered pumpkin and spinach ricotta tortelli served with truffle cream sauce and wild game tortelli with tomato and basil sauce. Portions are not big but they were both good. The one with pumpkin and spinach was just a bit too salty.
I think I had too high expectations, there is not much difference between those tortelli and the fresh ones I make at home, but I’m sure everybody likes them.
What I really enjoyed here are the desserts. We have been lucky because a waiter made a mistake with our order, so we had an extra dessert for free. That made me very happy because I like tasting different things and all of 3 desserts were really good.
We spent almost 4 hours there talking, the atmosphere was comfortable and even the service was good.
Prices are slightly higher than other restaurants.
They also sell their own products like pasta, tortelli, tomato sauces, cheeses.
Dominic Svensson
The homemade tortelli has a good texture, the beetroot and chèvre filling was nice but pretty plain, and that’s supposed to carry the dish because it’s just their lovely spicy salsa verde on top. Above average pasta but how this gets to over $30 worth is beyond me. I can compare it directly to another place I visited recently that trumpeted their homemade pasta - Adamo’s - and Emilia can’t compare to the notable clean bite of Adamo’s pasta and the great fillings, yet Adamo’s charges more normal prices.

Came for dinner on a busy Friday night. Ordered wine and some bread to start and then waited over an hour and mains had still not arrived. We were happy to wait as the restaurant was busy but when tables that arrived half an hour after us had both entrees and mains while we were still waiting for mains, we began to get frustrated. We enquired with a waiter if our meals were coming who told us he would check and 15 minutes later had still not returned. I then approached the counter to ask the manager if the meals were coming. She told us she would check and then sent a waitress over to tell us that the chefs were making up our food now. I understand that mistakes happen and orders get lost but there was absolutely no apology or explanation of what was happening from any of the staff at any point in the night and we ended up waiting an hour and a half for food. Food was good but I would never ever come back here, some of the worst service I have ever experienced and there are plenty of other places with good food to go to.

Cute little cafe. The food here definitely taste delicious and fresh.
I tried the ravioli and smoked burrata is was all amazing.
Service is also very friendly, I would definitely go back

We came here for lunch and had a lovely time. Really like the decor and the homely feel which gave it a relaxing atmosphere. The fact that they were hosting classes at the back told you how serious about their pasta they were, but also gave the place a great community feel. We had the potato and truffle tortelli, the wild game pappardelle and the burrata - loved every bite!

Had a lovely experience here a few months ago. Food was great and amazing service from the owner/staff. One of our wines tasted a bit off (possibly due to being preservative free) and the owner kindly changed it for us free of charge. The portions were not big, unlike Italian, but the flavours are definitely there. Great for vegetarians!

I dined here on a Thursday night and used a TheFork redemption voucher i had. We ordered the potato and truffle ravioli, spinach and ricotta ravioli and tuna tartare. The food was delicious and you could tell a lot of care went into their preparation. Unfortunately the waitress mixed up our plates when they were served at the table so my friend and i ended up eating what the other had ordered. Overall, Pasta Emilia has a lovely relaxed atmosphere, staff are friendly and food is great!
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
“We should go together one night to Pasta Emilia. I think her pasta is the best in town, organic Italian flour and the best eggs available,” said my mate Jason Moss, a popular Darlinghurst jeweller. I didn’t need much cajoling. My last experience with purchasing Pasta Emilia linguini from Iggy’s Bread in Bronte had resulted in a bowl of pasta so good, I went back to buy more pasta the very next week only to be thwarted by an empty fridge shelf. What I didn’t find out until later, was that Jason had a connection to owner Anna Maria Eoclidi that would afford me the opportunity to hear the story behind her successful pasta operation… Swathed in yellow light, the Riley Street warehouse is home to a pasta kitchen, cooking school, shop and restaurant. With exposed rafters and communal wooden tables decorated with fresh flowers, the long convivial space has the orderly clutter of a lived-in rural kitchen. Neat rows of pickle jars line...

Hidden gem in Surry Hills, never thought to look this end of town for Italian/pasta. We ordered the Tagliatelle and the ravioli. The pasta is organic and cooked very well, the sauce was top notch with just the right amount of flavors. The dessert wasn't too bad, but after a pasta it could've probably passed on. Overall a nice little Italian restaurant.

Went here yesterday, loved the service and in winter time... What better than pasta? I did like the entré (mushroom brushetta) but I think the main lacked a bit of punch. Good thing was, quince panna cotta (special on the night) was just the end to the meal I needed!

I’m sorry to say but the other reviews are correct. I’d heard really positive things about this place but it was terrible. So disappointed. Really cute interior but service was lacking and our mains took 45mins from entree to arrive In a half empty restaurant. I got the salmon $36 was supposed to come with salsa verde. Yet non was there. Was flavourless and really the standard of a bad pub meal. My dads lamb was so over cooked he couldn’t cut it without a lot of effort. Management must have change because there is no way this is the same place that had great reviews when opening. Would not go back.

I had lunch here the other day and found the food pretty good and tasty. The sizing of the food was great, I didn't finish it all. Surry Hills is hard to find good pasta I've tried a few. Service wasn't bad either.

Ned Kelly is alive and resides at Pasta Emilia.
Seven of us went there on a Friday night. Pasta dishes, shared deserts, a few beers for the boys and two bottles of poor quality wine rewarded us with a bill of $753.00! And for this they threw in a bench seat and some ancient very uncomfortable chairs.
In our opinion we have never had such poor value in any restaurant. It was a touch.
Pasta at these prices is absurd. If we knew this before going we have cancelled. No food menu or wine list on the website.
The pasta was good, but not great. Our two local pizza and pasta restaurants are equally as good and at way,way lower prices.
The wine list is almost exclusively Italian. We chose the cheapest white at $68. We asked for second bottle and unbeknown to us until the bill arrived the second bottle was apparently a different one, which we didn’t notice, and was $100. Not good form.
Service was extremely poor. On two occasions we went to the front counter to request service. They appeared badly understaffed. The tiled floor made the place very noisy.
SUMMARY: don’t waste your time or money. It is a touch!

Have always wanted to try this place as read some great reviews so had high hopes. Unfortunately, there is little positive I can say about this place. Inside it is a charming dining hall but very tired looking and in need of renovation.

Took ages for the waitress to take our order, and we noticed all the waiters stood behind the counter observing the diners and chatting away but no one was rushing to attend to the customers. A table next to us looked frustrated as they were there before us and just had the menus.

To start, we shared the caprese salad and some sourdough bread. It was ok, but the servings were tiny for the price. Then after about 45 mins wait, the waitress took away our empty plates only to leave the used cutlery directly on the dirty table for the main course. How stingy and unhygienic!

Despite this mishap, we looked forward to our mains. My partner had the seafood pasta which was very undercooked and therefore very dry, and I had a tiny portion of lasagna which was rather bland and tasted like it was reheated from frozen.

As others have commented, portions are small and prices high. We decided to skip dessert and just pay the bill. Can't comment on the wine as we did not have any. I did not get a good vibe from this place. With so many great Italian eateries in the area, we will not be returning.

I was going to an art event in Riley street but was early, so I was going to have a coffee at Pasta Emilia. When I walked in there were only a couple of customers. There were two waitresses, one was busy with a customer and the other was just standing behind the counter. As soon as the second waitress saw me, she walked to the other end of the counter and pretended to be busy whilst I stood there being ignored. She was fiddling with random things on the counter and wouldn't look up. The other waitress eventually saw to me but I decided to leave.
Terrible customer service.

I had really high hopes for this place and upon first arriving I was struck by how warm and welcoming the room felt. A beautiful space.
However despite it being almost empty service was terrible. We were sat waiting for a good while without menus and then had to almost shout out to get a drink. The staff also took their lunch at the same time so we were left twiddling out thumbs without a drink while they enjoyed their pasta. The food was delicious though. But at 36 bucks for ten ravioli really over priced. You might be able to get away with this if everything else had been spot on but with service like this I won't be back. Such a shame as they seemed lovely just clueless.

I love the idea of this place so much, I really do. It's minutes away from me; it's got a homey feel. I like the energy of the woman who seems to own it (Anna Maria, I read, not Emilia). I've been really impressed how they've built the business and that it's a buzzy neighbourhood gem. And I have had good food here; and the food is good: classic, homemade Italian pasta, dishes and drinks. But the servings are a bit mean, and the prices are just too high. $23 for two people for the fried organic dough with mixed salumi & pickled vegetables; tasty but barely filling the tiny wooden board. My meat pasta (strozzapreti) was tasty but $28. For a pasta! The organic Italian Cab Sauv was $59; I hate that Vivino told me most people paid an average of $13 for it. The night we went the service was really confused and awkward, unfortunately.

Went on Saturday night with a group of 5. The whole night was an expensive disappointment.

While waiting for some of our party, the waiter brought across a tray of sciatiata asking if we would like to try some while we were waiting. "Yes please!" we said only to be told it would be $8 a slice. A bit embarrassing to say no so we said we would only take 2 slices. Wasn't worth it.

Can I suggest that if you are offering something off the cuff like that, then you offer it for FREE? Making customer pay for unsolicited food is just awkward for everyone.

After reviewing the wine list we decided that we wouldn't be getting any wine. The price list is astronomical. Even per glass there was nothing less that $15. We opted for Peroni beer ($9) and sparkling water (using their own carbonator but we still had to pay).

After reviewing the menu, we decided that we would order only pasta. We assumed that for $32-36, that the pasta would be main course sized. Each person ordered a different one so we could compare and this included the duck/truffle tortellini and the gnocchi that are so talked about.

We ordered 2 antipasto plates before hand at $23. These were lack lustre. The produce on there wasn't very good quality at all.

As for the pastas, well not one dish was a standout. And the portions were tiny! TINY!!

I had the gnocchi and they were the size of a small marble. Tasty enough but not worth the money. And when they say "gorgonzola and walnut sauce", I expect the sauce to be made of gorgonzola AND walnut. Instead it was gorgonzola with a small smattering of crushed walnuts sprinkled over the top. Not even roasted.

All the tortellinis were actually ravioli
which means you miss out on all the crevices for sauces that make tortellini so special.

The sauces were ordinary with some on the table extremely oily. And the pastas were mushy. Not quite what you would expect for handmade.

And to top it off we waited over an hour and a half for our pasta to arrive. By then it was too late to order a main as well once we realise the portion sizes were miniscule.

We did ask to see the dessert menu because we were still so hungry but that all sounded lacklustre. All up it cost us $60 per person for a small plate of pasta and a beer.

In the end we went elsewhere to fill up.

As I walked into Surry Hills based restaurant, I felt like I was entering a remote little town of Italy. The family orientated and rustic decorated restaurant felt very comforting. I peek through the restaurant and notice a pasta making class taking place. No cooking for me today though, I'm here to dine in the restaurant. For full review including photos, go to the blog post

Pasta Emilia, traditional Italian in the heart of Surry Hills. We would describe it as Italian rustic, a large space for guests to dine, pasta making out the back and a gourmet store downstairs for street access. . Owner Anna Maria hails from Italy herself, from the Emilia Romagna region. She and her husband have significant experience in the restaurant industry, in Italy, Bronte and now, Surry Hills.

Pasta Emilia is alittle hard to spot as it is on the corner of the street and there were no big signs so you may easily walk past it without even realising. The interior design is very traditional and it gives off an authentic Italian rustic vibe which I'm totally digging.

I ordered the beetroot ravioli with kale and salsa verde which in my opinion was amazingly delicious. The amount of saltiness was just right and the salsa verde was not too oily and complimented the beetroot pasta beautifully. It felt like pasta heaven in my mouth.

My friend ordered the strozzapreti with beef ragu which was also tasty however; it was definitely more on the oily side as we could see alot of oil at the bottom of the plate and the mince was on the sweeter side which I don't mind but others might not like that. Pasta was cooked al dente though!

You can also buy their pasta and jars of homemade sauce but I didn't get a chance to buy any. I really should when I return since I need to get my hands on the amazing salsa verde sauce.

When you walk into Pasta Emilia, you feel immediately transported to a rustic italian kitchen. The hosts are welcoming and attentive to your every need. We started off with a mixed board comprising of olives, ricotta and pecorino cheeses, fried zucchini and roasted eggplant. There is a lot going on the board but the focus is the 36 month old pecorino, which was sharp but soft in texture. The ricotta was very subtle and soft as well.

Its all about the pasta at Emilia's! We ordered the duck and truffle tortelli with herbed butter, tagliolini with crab, butter and fennel and the prawn and zucchini risotto. My favourite was the crab tagliolini. Fresh chunks of crab, incredibly fresh al dente pasta, lightly seasoned, overall a pasta dish that isn't too heavy. However, the fennel was lost in the dish. The risotto had a light hint of lemon and the texture was perfect, creamy with a slight bite. The dish was a tad too salty and I would have preferred if larger prawns were used for this dish as I felt the prawns were lost in the dish. Duck and truffle tortelli was a bit disappointing for me. This is a flavour combination that generally goes perfect. The exterior tortelli shell was fabulous but the duck filling was dry and the truffle aroma was too slight.

Pasta emilia is quite original and has a strong focus on organic produce which is reflected in the fresh and natural flavours of the dishes. The quality is definitely there.

Great pasta place with a casual, homely ambiance. The pasta is handmade and every dish feels like it was lovingly cooked. Only the dessert wasn't a huge standout for me.

Honestly, the service here was pretty deplorable. Not just from the waiter - who, after offering us desserts before we had even been given our mains, made it obvious she had forgotten our order - but also from higher up. Once the problem was established it could have been dealt with much swifter. We were still left wondering where our food was (over an hour later) and the table next to us, who arrived much later, had already finished theirs. We were offered a glass of wine, although we had already BYO'd so we declined. We then went up to pay the bill and instead of being apologised to we were told it was our fault because one of us went outside for a cigarette.. Not really sure the logic in that? Anyway, would have all been worth waiting for if the food was more than subpar.

Came here a couple of weeks ago, we booked originally for 6 then changed to 8, the food was delicious but everything was a bit slow, and the waiter stuffed up an order for two guests (although we overheard them saying it was us who said it wrong – we didn’t), so they had to wait about 20 minutes to come out, while we were all eating. We were fine with that and we didn't complain, it was the staff member's first night they said, but when we got our bill we saw a compulsory 10% service charge which we couldn't figure out and we didn't really feel like paying as the service wasn't great and they were already making a lot of money from us. We were told this was a compulsory charge for groups over 8 people. We explained we were never told this when we changed our booking from 6 to 8 over the phone, and the head waiter told us it was written on the menu.

We asked for the menu, he got it and started to read it but didn’t actually give it to us which makes me think it wasn’t actually on there, he then said it was on the website, and we argued that it was never made clear to us that we would have to pay an extra surcharge for extra people and we then explained we didn’t feel we should have had to pay that charge as the service wasn’t very good. He went away to ring the manager and eventually came back and said he would take it off because we weren’t told about it but that it’s a very normal thing in all restaurants and we all said we hadn’t experienced it, then he just rudely stated he’d been working in restaurant for 10 years and it was normal. So we just paid and left.

I later looked on the website and I did find it stated that there is a 10% surcharge for groups of TEN or more people. Pretty disappointing we had to argue our way out of a surcharge we should never have received. Food was nice but not really worth it.

There aren’t many things in this life better than good Italian food, and Pasta Emilia sure has stolen my heart. Situated conveniently on Riley Street, Surry Hills, Pasta Emilia is a gorgeous setup serving up traditional Italian pastas with organic ingredients. Arriving for late lunch on a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant is quiet – but not the type of quiet that we don’t like. The charm and rustic feel of the interiors once you walk through the doors definitely has me swept off my feet. Mismatched, coloured wooden chairs, communal tables and bar stools lining up against the windows makes dining in large groups or alone indifferent.

Pros: Delicious handmade pasta. Casual cozy restaurant in a convenient location, one street away from Crown street, but without the hustle bustle of it. I can find parking on a sat night 7pm. Can you believe it? The tortellini was recommended and we weren't disappointed. I love the chewy texture of handmade pasta and the sauce was very yummy too! The trout salad was great. Fresh ingredients and tasty. The staff was very friendly, the meals were delivered timely and service was good! They have pasta and pasta sauces that you can buy home. They even have pasta making class for people wants to make yummy pastas like they do. What a lovely one-stop shop for pasta lover, recommended for pasta lovers.Cons: It's a bit pricy to go regularly.

Ravioli w kale and carmelized onions in a truffle cream was divine- cooked perfectly al-dente. Shame there wasn't more of that divine cream. 5* pasta for AU

Delicious Pasta! Had the Strozzapreti with beef ragu & parmesan, the strozzapreti pasta itself had a nice flavour and cooked al dente. The sauce was a little watery, but the tomato flavour complements well. My dish was a bit lacking in beef, however my friend's plate had plenty of it, so a bit inconsistent. My other friend had the pasta special with mushroom which was equally delicious. The atmosphere was very relax. the decor was casual & homey with big wooden tables on one side and the place decorated with plants and produce in jars along the walls. The service is a bit slow, but still quite friendly. Overall, a nice lunch for the weekend.

Pasta Emilia.

Walking into Pasta Emilia, you are immediately greeted by the warm rustic feel of the restaurant. We were led to our table for 5 by a cheeky Italian and though table was large enough for the group, it was a bit snug against the wall.

Firstly, the wine. We chose a bottle of Lambrusco (frizzante) and were perplexed when five small bowls were placed on our table. It was explained (by our very pleasant Florence waitress) that this type of wine is traditionally served in bowls. So it was poured and while I enjoyed the sweet, slightly fizzy wine, it wasn't to everyone's taste.

Now the food. I ordered an aracini ball to share as a starter, the infamous duck and truffle tortellini in a butter sage sauce and we had some baked vegetables to share. The pasta was beautifully made and cooked with just enough bite. The duck and truffle filling was delicious and with the slightest hint of truffle. My only criticism is that the serving of 8 tortellinis is a touch too small for the $30 price tag. Had I'd known, I would have ordered an extra salad to share. My companions all orders pasta (two tortellinis of the day with a truffle cream sauce, one crab and ricotta tortellini and a strozzapretti with beef ragu) and though there were not complaints, the tortellini of the day didn't blow their socks off.

We didn't have dessert, but stayed for another 20 minutes or so. The waiters didn't seemed to mind, kept pouring the water and left us to chat away.

As we were leaving, I noticed the fridges filled with pasta tortellinis packed and ready to purchase. I made a mental note to come back for some takeaway tortellini next time I'm in need of a pasta fix.

Overall, a pleasant meal and service with a smile.

Good food spoiled by a pretentious waiter.

Went on a Sunday night a few minutes before my date was to arrive, and asked for a table for two. Was asked if I had made reservations, to which I declined. The waiter/manager asked me to wait, whilst he took a good five minutes to serve water to a table and a bottle of wine to another. Considering the restaurant was half empty, with plenty of tables available, I was stunned by the lack of any decent service from this guy, who came back and took me to a table right next to where I was standing for the five minutes!

Thankfully, my stunning date arrived and the rest of the evening went well, mostly due to the company. The pasta was delicious and the food experience was quite good; pity about the lack of hospitality!

Delicious homemade pasta and pasta sauces. This is a beautiful little boutique restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Lovely service. Pastas and sauces can also be purchased to take away and cook at home when you please. The chacuterie board was delicious and fresh.

Incredible fresh and organic pasta, wonderful wine and warm service. New favourite restaurant in Sydney! Would recommend the duck tortelli- the sage sauce was the best I've ever had.

I signed up specifically to write this review - their seating arrangement is the worst - they squish you and make you feel like human cattles. NOT RECOMMENDED

It doesn't worth... The quality of the pasta is good, but the portions are really small and the prices are expensive..the flavour of the duck with truffle is nothing of special.
Totally overrated.

Disappointing food. While the place has nice atmosphere and service, the food did not live up to expectations.
The crab and prawn tortelli filling did not taste like crab or prawn at all, instead it was just a mushy flavorless mixture.
The tortelli of the day with truffle cream sauce was also boring, with no truffle flavor.
Disappointing.

It was incredibly silky, fresh and so delicious! I didn’t even notice the difference.

There are tortellis, the most striking of which to me are those with duck and truffle fillings; that with porcini mushrooms; and the combinations of pumpkin and Morstada . I am not so much a fan of ravioli and lasagne , but the range of tortelli is diverse and unique here that I was immediately drawn to the stall of Pasta Emilia at the Eveleigh Street Farmers markets in Redfern, inner Sydney CBD, This offers a glimpse into not only spelt and gluten free freshly made pasta, but also into sauces like Noce Blu and truffle cream and the granishing of Sicilian marinated olives. The pans were out in front of me and the creativity of making delicate tortelli was displayed for me, meshed in with engaging conversation by the two hipster guys manning the markets outlet. My eyes also wandered around the ingredients, cooked stuff and jars of sauces surrounding them. Everything had quality and hints of being lovingly made. It was still a cool winter's day and we all appreciated the warmth of

It used to be a molasses factory. Nowadays it's home to Pasta Emilia, a family-run business specialising in organic pasta and sauces that first opened in Bronte in 2004. The converted warehouse is the perfect setting for its bustling cafe, set up like an Italian dining hall with high ceilings, communal tables and bentwood chairs.

There’s no prizes for guessing what Pasta Emilia’s main strength is. The pasta here is made onsite and with organic ingredients, using recipes from the Emilia-Romagna region in northern Italy which is famous for its pasta. Pasta Emilia makes several types, including fettuccine, strozzapreti and filled pastas like ravioli and tortelli. While these are all available for purchase in convenient take home packs and sauces, we decided to eat in at the rustic, cottage-like cafe in Surry Hills for dinner one night. Strozzapreti al ragu di carne and parmagiano – $18 We’re here for the pasta so we skip the entrees and dive straight in. The house made strozzapreti is a short pasta that kind of reminds me of DNA strands with its rolled and twisted structure. Strozzapre

Lunchtime Leftovers. This place looks great but doesn't deliver. We had a table of 6 for Friday dinner. Priding themselves on their pasta, we were served what appeared to be re-heated leftovers from lunch. Poorly reheated (in all certainty in a microwave) since half the plate was cold (as in out of he fridge) and the rest was barely warm. We were to find that not all items on the very limited menu were available so a substitute from the lunch menu was offered. Again poorly heated so that half the meat balls were cold. The kitchen lost our main course order so there was an extended delay between entrée and main. Among other things we had a cheese platter for dessert that was offered without any crispbread or crackers.

The floor staff were pleasant but uncoordinated, disinterested and inept and also basically untrained. When asked for a servicing fork and spoon for our salad several in our group noticed a rolling of the eyes from the waitress.

None of the portions was generous and for nearly $100 pp there are definitely better options our there.

Beautiful hand made pasta!. Visited recently for Saturday lunch. Slightly pricey but I suppose that's justified for handmade pasta. Absolutely delicious !
Service was a little slow, but a large table of 10 people was present with only one wait staff. The ambient and rustic feel of the restaurant is very charming and particularly suitable for an Italian venue.

Very average, and quite expensive. First of all let me say that the atmosphere here is great - everyone seems happy and the wait staff were well intentioned.
I really wanted to like this place... But It started going down hill with the Salumi board - at $25 it had two pieces of average salami, one slice of mortadella and one slice of prosciutto... This was beyond over priced. On top, they charged $5.5 for reheated gluten free bread...

The cocktails are also quite sad - they struggled to mix an Aperol Spritz and overloaded on the prosecco.
For the main I had the truffle tortellini which was acceptable but disappointingly overcooked. My desert (the flourless chocolate cake) was acceptable but not fantastic. And then they added a sparkling water which wasnt ours to the bill... In the end it was 70 each (A tavola prices) for a meal which was barely better than Bill and Tonis (yes, that average).

TLDR: if you want authentic pasta, avoid. You're better off at Fratelli Paradiso or A tavola down the road.

Homemade pasta fresh everyday, casual, homely, unpretentious but super tasty food that feels like you've stepped into an Italian nonna's home for dinner. Also had the bruschetta with juicy fresh tomatoes, perfectly seasoned. Tried their special of the day pumpkin ricotta tortellini, YUMMM! Reasonably priced wine too, think they allow Byo. Highly recommended.

Last night's experience. We ate at this restaurant last night and it reminded me of visiting the cheap and cheerful No Names in the 1980's. Cheerful it was but cheap it wasn't. The pasta was thick and stodgy and certainly not al dente. It lacked the crab and prawn filling which was promised on the menu and tasted more like cat food with a bitter sauce of rocket and lemon rather than the salsa verde that was to come with it. The lamb was beyond overdone, meanly sliced, chewy and fatty. If only we had cut our loses and left, however we ordered the gluten free chocolate cake which was just out of the fridge, icy cold, dry and hard with a scoop of cheap ice cream on the side. Emilia you can't hide your sins by dusting deserts with cocoa. It's a nice rustic room but we definitely won't be back!!!

An authentic Italian experience of the highest quality. This place is very special. The food at Pasta Emilia is authentic, traditional handmade pasta made from pure, organic ingredients. The authentic feel is beautifully conveyed through the simple, rustic interior which is casual and relaxed. The wine list is full of organic, additive-free wines of outstanding quality. You can even buy fresh pasta, sauces and organic cordials to take home. What a treasure this place is!

Lunch and Dinner. Had dinner and then lunch the next day - both meals were excellent.

Excellent artisan pasta in a homely setting. I had the bolognese ragu. The sauce was much lighter than I expected but the pasta was al dente. I like their take home packs. My favourite is the salmon ravioli. The tomato and basil sauce is the best.
