Review Tandoori Palace - Sydney

Stephen B. Cohen
The Tandoori Palace was a bit noisy on Thursday night. It could do with some treatment to absorb the sound when there are groups dining in. We had friendly service, although it was a little slow, possibly as they were busy. We really enjoyed the Palace beef rolls and the smokey eggplant masala which included some substantial chunks of tasty eggplant. The highlight was the pistachio chicken which had really tender and delicious pieces of chicken along with the beautiful curry. The pistachio chicken is suitable for people who don't want a spicy dish.

I'm not an Indian food fan, so this place surprised me with the quality and taste. My friend booked a table through an app and got a 40% discount (awesome!). My butter salmon was tasty and not too pungent, however, I felt the portion were too small for the price that was listed on the menu, so I'm unsure if it was because of the booking discount or not. Oh, and did i mention they have gluten free naan? Apparently this option is very hard to find in other Indian restaurants. Service was nice and friendly. Our order came out fairly quickly.

Nicely located on the Main Burra Street. Plenty of parking options on the same street. Manager and staff is very welcoming. Overall food quality is great. Place is bit dark, more lights will definitely help. Definitely come back and recommend it to others !!

I had tummy aches the following day after having dinner in this restaurant. 😣 I don't know. May be my tummy didn't agree with their food. They're kinda spicy. I'm not a fan of Indian cuisine except for their butter chicken nor very spicy food. Because of this experience, I will never try it again. 🙁

The staff are nice and the food is quick. It's a nice spot right in the heart of Oxford street but it seems like a little getaway with the music

We liked the food we got today. Curries were delicious. Friendly staff.

Had my 60th Birthday Dinner function at Tandoori Palace last night. The best decision I have ever made. The booking process was so easy. And information provided beforehand by Ella, the events manager, was awesome. Although only a small group, we were lucky enough to have the entire downstairs Karaoke Function Room to ourselves. I booked the $55pp package including Drag Queen host for the whole night as well as an appearance by a belly dancer. Pandora amazingly involved every single person during the night's entertainment. Pandora made the night an incredible success. My guests commented on the great food. Thanks also to Simon and the waitresses and waiter for excellent friendly customer service.

The food at Tandoori Palace was amazing. Staff were welcoming and informative in choosing what dishes where best in their menu. They do cater to your level of how spicy you like your food as well. Food arrived promptly and plates wear cleared in no time! Great atmosphere and music. Overall i recommend this place. Will definitely go back for their Peshaari naan and butter chicken!

We got refused service from having a voucher that was well within the date. Rude and obnoxious manager, left lost for words!!! I shall never eat here! If you're looking for an amazing Indian dining experience head to Malabar over in Potts point for 5 Star customer service and 5star food!

Delicious food at this local joint. The ambience may be nothing special and the service no-frills but this place serves excellent food at great value - we used the Eat Club discount. Eggplant curry and prawn curry were particularly tasty.

Really dissapointed as the food was poor quality and the staff didn't care about the complaints and didn't even say sorry. Poor quality fatty meat (lamb), burned papadums, soggy rice. The best dish was cheese naan which is sad having in mind we payed around $50 for a dinner with a 40% discount.

Xihuahua 🐶 found a half price deal on eatclub. A irresistible deal no matter what. Upon entry the smell of incense was knocking me out so we requested a well ventilated table. The waiter wandered off with giving us the menu... Nor was the service attentive. The boss later came out was rather welcoming though.<br/><br/>Tandoori Chicken grill was tender and flavorful as a starter. Palak Paneer was slightly spicy with nice cheese with a bit of a fight. Beef Dhan Suk was very tender with lots of meat and lentil. I pulled the beef into strands for better infusion and it tasted divine. Both dishes were great for the garlic naan we ordered. It was covered in garlic oil with blisters all over, thin and crunchy! Pesuwari naan is so delish! Filled with coconut, almond, sultana and dried apple. It is basically a dessert! A must try if you like sweet! Make sure you finish the naan hot. We were offered some rather exotic sugar spice mixture for refreshing breathe when getting the bill. Overall pretty good place for quality Indian food. Their food comes in rather good portion as they fill the bowls to the brim. Their price is on the low side for fine dining style Indian restaurants and the half price deal made the value amazing! Oh their bathroom needs better cleaning...

Ordered chicken tikka masala tasted awful. Rice was left over from the day before. Was dark and had to request for the light to be turned on. He gave a bad look after we had requested. Orders onion salad that never came out too. Won’t be back here again. Please read the lower star reviews before deciding to eat here or not.

I cannot recommend this gem enough for those who love Indian cuisine. I booked through dimmi to get a massive bargain for the banquet menu. The massaman beef curry is so delightful! Strong notes of coriander and it goes so well with a rich flavors of the sauce. They also carry samosas that have a crispier batter than the typical ones you find, the filling hearty and spicy. <br/>Service is delivered by only a few staff but each of them are very friendly and attentive.

I attended a party in their private function room and it was great. There was no room hire fee, just $45pp for dinner and karaoke, there was a karaoke stage with lighting and a private bar just for us. The food was really great, especially the butter chicken. Its hard to find indian food that isn't watered down and soupy, but this food was lovely. I recommend this place highly.

Our group of 46 people from Rajasthan Millenium Club, New Delhi had their dinner on August 12, 2017 and the worst experience of its kind in terms of quality of food, level of service, response level of the restaurent staff and the so called owner. Food was served without basic cutlery i.e. Even spoon was not given. Charitable food served free of cost at Temple & Gurudwara is ten times better that these guys served. No bowls were provided for daal or gravy items, disposable spoons and glasses were provided and no desert or sweet dish was served. These are only a few of endless complaints made to them.<br/><br/>Most of these fake Indian restaurants extort huge money from Indian tourists in advance and provide third grade of service & food ad they know that everyday they will get a chance to befool one another new trap.<br/><br/>These Indian restaurants grease the ass of white skinned gentlemen but don't have shame to even give a minimum of what they charge in advance and what Indian tourists come to them with great expectations.

Very nice place, the service is the best, they are very kind, and the food it's really good too! It's not an expensive place and sometimes they have Karaoke, belly dancers and drag queens shows!

Average Indian food at really steep prices is the norm looks like it in Australia. Where do I go for good food? Service was very decent tho and were suggesting which meal had the best value, a sweet server from Bangladesh. <br/><br/>We had a watery flowy butter chicken, a chicken breasted chicken Biryani(read no rice and all chicken) and some good nans. The tandoori chicken for starters was very good though they came after the mains were served. They came in more like sizzlers. Extra onions or papads were all charged. The mango lassi needs a special mention 👍🏻<br/><br/>Strictly mediocre and not one for Indians.

Fantastic! Tandoori Palace ticks all the boxes when it comes to good Indian food. I order butter chicken, and it was one of the best butter chickens I've had in Sydney. Excellent restaurant, and terrific service! I think they've got a karaoke room downstairs so I might check that out next time :)

Love this place! The manager is a little Indian man which is so friendly and does his best to make you feel welcome and at home! The food is top notch Indian! Order the butter chicken!

Tandoori Palace goes off on Fridays and Saturdays. I've always wondered why it looked so empty, but they've got a lower level which can easily cater 50-70 people. I went here for an end of year work function and it was pumping. They've got karaoke downstairs which was so much fun. I didnt expect much going in, but I was blown away by the service and atmosphere of the shop (mainly the karaoke).

If you want to get good Indian food and great service this is the place to go. Much better service compared to many other Indian restaurants.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Jan. 16th, 2007 at 10:44 AM Tandoori Palace has been on Oxford Street for as long as I can remember, though the menu has certainly changed since the last time I chose to dine here. The new menu I would probably term Indian fusion cuisine, and it contains

The best Indian restaraunt I have been to so far. This place is welcoming, the food is delicious, the venue is modern and clean. The staff are so friendly and helpful. I have been here on numerous occactions and each time I leave feeling overly full, the food is so delicious that I just don't know when to stop.

Disgusting! Head to South Malabar in Potts Point for a decent Indian Meal!. I purchased 2 vouchers for a 4 course meal for 2 diners at the Tandoori Palace, intended for my parents making a once in a lifetime trip to Australia and having a farewell meal. Following the instructions on the fine print I booked the meal on Wednesday 4th September to dine on Sunday 8th September and that I would be bringing vouchers. I called the restaurant yesterday to confirm my booking and the manager said the Cudo offer had ended, I advised the manager that I would come along anyway and he can inspect the vouchers.<br/><br/>We turned up and he asked to see the vouchers, and although the dates on the voucher state in black and white he said that the offer had ended and that there was some confusion with Cudo and relentless in saying that the offer had ended and he wasn’t able to honour the offer. <br/><br/>We then asked his opinion on what he, as a manager ought to do to ensure his customers were happy to which he replied ring Cudo! After a few minutes of deliberating (or trying to get a word in from him repeating himself), he then ushered us to the back of the restaurant, said he would let us dine. Letting us wait even longer, he came back to our table with a folder to search for our voucher number, instead of menus! He then realised that our voucher was for a 4 course meal and refused to serve us.<br/><br/>What should have been a nice dining experience, turned out to be a highly disappointing ordeal that made us feel embarrassed and annoyed. Never have I encountered such poor customer service from anywhere or anyone. We walked out lost for words.<br/><br/>I shall never eat here! If you're looking for an amazing Indian dining experience head to Malabar over in Potts point for 5 Star customer service and 5star food!

Walked pass and decided to dine here. Menu looked great, the curries and rice were delicious. Two downsides to make it unsatisfactory.<br/>1. We asked for the bill twice, waited 17min, then got up to try to pay and were told to return to our table for the bill. <br/>2. Although delicious at the time, we were left EXTREMELY thirsty an hour later and with uncomfortable reflux. Good Indian doesn't make you feel I'll afterwards :(<br/>Overall, not recommended unless you can tolerate the above disappointments.

Delish!. My husband and I have been going to Tandoori Palace regularly for over a year. The service is always very good - the meals come out very quickly and the waiters are very attentive. Our absolute favourites on the menu are the Chicken Vindaloo, Lamb Apple Korma and the Peshwari Naan. Great flavours and absolutely delicious. By far the best Indian food we've had in Sydney.

Wouldn't recommend this restaurant. Promising sounding menu but every dish we had was overly sweet with chewy cuts of meat.

This restaurant never disappoints. I come from Melbourne three/four times a year just for the pistachio chicken. Always a great dinner. Just need ice in my water :)
