Some old places in the Lebanese quarter have closed or gone downhill but not The Prophet. I haven't actually been inside in years but we found it on a delivery app and ordered a "meat set". It seemed expensive but it was way too much for two people - not so much meat but so much bread and dips and sides - and all of it was worth it, especially the charcoally garlic chicken.
The Prophet is one of the more enduring Lebanese establishments in the area. Good selection of dips, vine leaves and tabouli are great. Will have to come back for a selection of mains next time. Thoroughly recommended.
The prophet is in "little Lebanon" area of Cleavland st. If you love middle eastern food you won't be disappointed. Great servings and tasty meats I recommend and of the dips and skewers...
Fantastic. Highly recommend. Delicious food and very friendly service and staff. Must try the banquet.
Over the course of dinner, I noticed a picture of someone familiar on the wall. As it was dark and my eyes aren’t so good, I asked a passing waiter. “Is that a pciture of Jon Voight on the wall over there?” “Sure is, he came in when he was doing some film
Came here with my mate and I had the lamb chops, which was delicious. The place had a good atmosphere and a great vibe.
Fantastic. We have been twice now to this restaurant and both times we were given outstanding service with excellent food. Very friendly staff and happy to assist with our requests of extra baklava.
Sydneys best lebanese. After visiting the prophet on a number of occasions-generally without a booking- this restaurant has always pleased.. quality food and service with authentic dishes.. we once took twenty four guest here with outstanding results..sydney needs moore locations like the prophet...and professional management which seems to have been here forever. well done prophet...........................................
Cosy atmosphere with friendly staff, great food and good value. They take bookings, however we were walk ups on Saturday at 7 and while the restaurant was full they moved some reservations around and made a table for us. Mixed platters gave a good mix of all their specialties - everything was great but the falafels were outstanding, not too big and cooked perfectly
Excellent Food and Service. Coming here for the first time, we did not expect much from this place. We were surprised when we were greeted by the friendly staff. When the mixed platter arrived, it was just amazing. Great presentation and yummy too. Loved everything in the platter as well as the dessert and the Lebanese coffee. Highly recommended!
Cosy, authentic and friendly Lebanese restaurant. I've eaten here several times over the years and I've always found the food delicious and very filling. The ambience is great and definitely creates a world that is a long way reomoved from the noisy and shadowy Cleveland street it sits on.
Last time I ordered the Quail, which was fantastic, but then again, i always love quail. I had originally ordered something else but then changed. The kitchen accomodated me, so they get another star in my opinion.
Before I've had the Mezza (spelling?) plate there and it's a great place to start if you don't know your way around a Lebanese menu (which I don't) - but be warned, you may just be full when only half the dishes have arrived, so pace yourself and leave the pocket bread until last.
Oh, they also give free pocket bread, olives and peppers for the table, which I think is a classy touch.
Oh and the Lebanese coffee is a delicious after meal suppliment that's served in a wooden and tin (I think) pourer, which is also a nice touch.
I also think this is family run, which I always like the idea of. It's been around a long while and it's one many people seem to know about.
