Review Rocks Brewing Co - Sydney

Great! The food was fresh and delicious, the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Small menu but everything we tried was done well. Good beer menu (although a little pricey) and great and speedy customer service. Were on point with their covid safe procedures which I appreciated. Would definately go again. Dogs can go too, just tie the kids to the pole 😂😂

We booked for 11.30am thinking we could order food straight away but the kitchen opened at 12pm. When I explained I needed to leave at 12.45pm to catch a plane, they were very accommodating and opened the kitchen early, the staff are lovely. The food was awesome, the share plate of calamari was large, the dumplings were very tasty and our meals were yummy. The beers were great too, pity we only had time to try a few. We will definitely be back next time we are visiting Sydney.

Great craft beers, huge selection to choose from. A decent food menu and awesome outdoor sitting area.

The best chicken schnitzel. I've ordered it a few times, and it has been consistently fantastic. They have got a wide range of beers, I've tried the fruit salad pale ale which was interesting and unique. They also do happy hour Mon to Fri 4-6pm, pints for schooner prices.

We always have a great time here! The staff are all super friendly - the second we sat down with our dog, someone came out with water and a doggie biscuit. We used to come before COVID and since then they've put in a new covered area outside, it was a really good move. I always enjoy the food and the beer too. Thanks for being awesome!

Fantastic venue to compliment exceptional beer and food. We came down from the Hunter Valley and kicked off a very special night at The Rocks Brewing Co tap house. The staff were excellent and my goodness that Lager Pilsner is exquisite. Highly recommend my friends!!!!

Great service & great food! Portion was slightly smaller than expected 😅 but pretty reasonably priced considering the location. We ordered the beer battered calamari, chicken schnitzel and nachos, the calamari was really fresh not chewy, schnitzel was not dry & nacho was surprisingly scrumptious! Love the fact that they have all the beer popularity ranking on the wall 😂 I couldn’t decide what beverage to get so went for 2 sets of tasters 😍👌🍻🍻🍻highly recommend to try their pale ale “Hangman” and this Irish red ale “Boxer”!!! We went there on a hot day and their gigantic fan wasn’t strong enough to blow our sweats off 😅 but love the overall atmosphere!

Lovely! The food was fantastic, staff is lovely and the moonshine is delicious. Thank you for being amazing for a Monday night birthday adventure. Nachos were ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Good thing I made a booking for dinner tonight as the place was so busy! Even in this chilly night, many were seating outside for their drinks/dinner.
As this venue is located close to Skyzone, there were lots of kids which suited us perfectly as we were catching up with a friend who also had a kid.

The kids were happy with their fish and chips and my husband went for the burger with the lot which he found pretty good, my lamb ragu pappardelle wasn’t bad either and reasonably priced. My friends ordered the rocks nachos (large) which was massive! They didn’t really like the chicken drumsticks which had a sour taste which they didn’t like.

As we were dining at a brewery, my husband went with the hangman and this was light and refreshing. Overall, it was worth while checking out and we will probably come back when it’s a bit warmer.

Rocks Brewing Company is a boutique brewery located in Alexandria, in Sydney’s Inner South suburbs that has gained some popularity over the years. Alexandria itself has become one of the most popular brunch spots in the city and is now home to plenty of indoor activities, fashion outlet stores and now even breweries. It’s a suburb that was once a bustling industrial space featuring plenty of warehouses and office spaces.

I came here to check it out. It was only 11.45am so we were the only customers ordering something from the kitchen. I Ordered the beef burger, the 250gr rump steak and a pale ale beer. I wanted the steak medium cooked but it was really chewy and it tasted like it’s just been taken out of the freezer and straight on the grill. It wasn’t cold but not warm either. The burger was a bit better, just a bit. Luckily the chips, vegies and beer saved the appetite.

Weird outcome. Food was great, had the chicken wings and the rib eye for main. Both delicious.
However, for a brewery, the beer options were less than impressive. Two lagers on a ten option menu!!? No IPA or anything very heavy??!
But the steak was delicious, very delicious!! And the chips, wow!!

A friendly place with good burgers and chips. Came here for lunch and ordered WAY too much!

We had the Wagyu Burger lunch special each, came with chips! Didn't realise how big it was and we ordered loaded waffle fries and wings on top! (This was for 3 people) It was definitely delicious and the wagyu patty was juicy!

Staff were very friendly, but should have told us we ordered way too much! It is on the pricey side for lunch and wouldn't come too often. Wasn't able to try the beer (it is a brewery after all) as it was lunch on a workday.

Came here due to an event held here. There was a Coffee Ale White Stout on tap. Not much of a beer drinker it was refreshing and had a lovely caffeinated flavour to it. The food on offer was finger food including Chicken Skewers, Filo Pastries, Mini Burgers, Fried Chicken Tenders, and Mini Chocolate Churros With Caramel Sauce.

All the bites were tasty and lovely finger food to accompany the beer. Service was good.

Here for a good cause and was a great event in this space.

Great setup, ok beer and food. Sydney’s inner southwest is a hotspot for craft breweries but most just have a small bar to promote their product, whereas Rocks has a big indoor and outdoor bar that serves food all day, making it a real destination in industrial southern Alexandria. I don’t think their beer’s the best though - the flagship Hangman pale ale is the best but lacks the polish of competitors, while the others seem very mainstream and unhoppy, although you might prefer that. And the food’s disappointing. I had the brisket burger which was somewhat tasty (great chips) but the brisket was a bit burnt and tough, which must be hard to do with slow smoking. A $23 burger has to be better than this.

Good food, great beers, nice and relaxed atmosphere. Oddly tucked away in the back of an industrial area. Plenty of parking is also a definite positive.

Have visited Rocks a couple of times in the last week. Love the freshly brewed witbeer, Convict lager and the Governor ale. Also love the Fully loaded fries with Brisket and the right amount of BBQ sauce.

Excellent ambience and various choices for crafted beer. Great working staffs and the size of the Resturant is enormous which can be suitable for function party .

The Rocks Brewing Co. is probably the one and only full on Brewery + Restaurant in the same area located in Alexandria. The brewery embraces a very traditional Australian history with some of the ancestors being real British convicts, therefore, one of their most popular beer is named "Convict Lager" and they even have a whole "Conviction" series of beers in cans and bottles.

This is the perfect Sunday afternoon place to kick back with friends.
Great Craft Beers- I prefer the Governors Beer that they have here on Tap
Great Food
Great Atmosphere.

Rocks Brewing Co. is a cool industrial style micro-brewery in Alexandria. Located as part of the wider sports complex this place has something for everyone. Great variety of home crafted beers, affordable pints (especially Wednesday happy hour $7) and an awesome options of wings, onion rings and burgers. We were here for origin on Wednesday night and it was packed with a great atmosphere. Definitely on to check out when you are in the area.

I visited this place few times. Their fries and burgers are good. I also come and tried their pasta once and I think its decent. If you are into beers, this is a good place to go too. Decent serving, friendly staff and plenty of seating. You can also sit outside which is great on a good weather day.
Daryl
Over priced and not for a weekend. They cannot handle large crowds. Staff are good. They knew what to do when food came in drips & drabs. Great to sit outside in the sun.

Well impressed, what a great place! Fun, open and comfortable atmosphere. Fun and well rounded menu. Great for couples, groups for corporate (events for up to 150 people).

Good food, good atmosphere, free parking in the parking lot in the evening. Interesting selection of beers. You definitely need a beer to go down with the spicy wings - the spice catches up on you!
The City Lane
Rocks Brewing Co was founded in 2008 and gypsy brewed for 6 years before opening their own brewery in Alexandria. It’s all about supporting the local craft beer scene and creating great core range and seasonal/one-off beers.

I love when wait staff can sense exactly what your stomach is feeling. Rocks brewing co did exactly that. Walking up to the counter, we were greeted with a smile and a glass of Shiraz. Ummming and aaahhhing with what to eat, the bearded man at the bar tended to our indecisive minds and put forward the sausage plate and nachos - a wise choice.

A great spot for a drink paired with a hearty meal. This place will be booming in the warmer months.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Rocks Brewing Co. were kind enough to take us behind the scenes to give us a good overview of how craft beer is produced, starting with opportunities to taste the grain, and ending with filling kegs (a hard job if you're stuck there all day in the middle of summer with a wall of heat reflecting silver kegs). Their intriguing explanation of the way beer-makers love making sours, which are the most analogue beers aged in old wine and whisky barrels, inclined me to try Wayward Brewing Co.'s Sourpuss later in the day. One mouthful of this intriguing Berliner Weiss beer flavoured with fresh raspberries and I was hooked, particularly because after the bright, sharp sourness, it ends with lovely bready roundness...

Solid pub food
Great beers on drafts
Fun spot to go watch sporting events when they put up the large screen. Book a table in advance tho!!

I want to like the food more because I love the Pale Ale and the staff and the set out and the parking ...and the location....but food seems a bit pricey and too much burgers n steaks and deep fried food. I wish there was pork belly with mash or veges ...or a good lamb dish. My partners pulled pork burger was great...as it should be for $22. Kids menu at $15 is steep too..but it comes with a drink so guess its ok - except my little guy usually just wants water - but his sliders were good and big too . My Asian pork belly salad sadly was just ok...nice crunchy salad but not enough master stock flavour on the pork .

The chips here are PERFECT. That’s all that needs to be said.

Nah… I will continue, but that’s just how good they were!!

Rocks Signature burger was decent, I guess you could say it felt more like a gourmet burger rather than a greasy fatty one. But at over $20 (including chips), you tend to expect more. It certainly was loads better than the veggie burger, which was a total disappointment. The roasted pumpkin and lentil pattie, although probably not to most, sounded delicious to me. It was a ginormous patty and as if it was magic, grew bigger with each bite! Haha no, it just didn’t hold together very well and as it was squished started flattening out and falling apart. I didn’t end up finishing all of the fallen contents, not only because it was a huge amount, but it just didn’t taste that great. Kind of bland and dry. Probably not enough of the tzatziki, but personally I didn’t feel like they went together amazingly anyway. All in all wasn’t a fan of this veggie burger and is crossed off my list!

The night we went was the launch day of the brown ale which had gathered quite a crowd, unless it’s pretty much always that bustling. Lots of burly men and also businessmen who possibly work around the area.

They have their own brewery which you can take a tour of apparently. The new brown ale was light, nutty with a hint of fruit? Who knows, just what the taste buds feel.

The rocks is a fantastic little bar and brewery nestled inside the business park at Alexandria. They have a great selection of delicious brewed beers on tap, as well as cider. Simple, sufficient wine list for those averse to a brewed concoction. The menu has changed alot over the last 12 months, leaving me sad to see some favourites go, and also evolve. On top of the usual menu, these guys normally have one of two specials where you can often find pot pie, steak special or pasta. Unfortunately quality here isn't consistent, and only sometimes worthy of the prices. Staff here though are pretty good, and generally food does come out in a timely fashion. There is a very casual and chilled out vibe, and they often have live music in the giant courtyard.

If outside, keep an eye out for fast-footed children whose parents enjoy socialising more than keeping an eye on their kids who have a penchant for knocking over empty glasses.

Good locally breed beers, Nice pub style food and good prices, an enjoyable atmosphere on a fine day with live music. went here recently mis sunday afternoon, great place

What an amazing place to spend a Sunday! Spent the afternoon with my wife and pooches & some friends from overseas. The chicken wings and the nachos were spot on and the Apple cider was the perfect drink to wash it all down. Do yourself a favour and spend a weekend day at this really cool place hidden in an industrial area.

Beer lovers are spoiled in this one of a kind brewery – food fanatics also have reason to rejoice: tomahawk steaks, smoked brisket, cheesecake, waffles mhmm…. The layout at Rocks Brewing Co. is much like pub meets warehouse, it’s a brewery so right next to the main dining area are dozens of enormous silver tanks occasionally spewing spent grains and yeast dregs into drains. It’s a wonderful experience of the paddock to plate concept – if you’re akin to liquid lunches.
Little Eats Sydney
American style cuisine and authentic Aussie craft beer unite at Rocks Brewing Co. Alfresco dining opens onto a huge courtyard which is ideal for little ones. Craft beer + happy kids = match made in heaven!
Authenticity
We went to this place for early lunch, it was great sitting outdoor area sipping the local brewed beer. The salad and Louisiana wings are great to munch away while catching up with friends.
Insatiable Munchies
It was a grey, GREY day. Even the rain didn’t know whether it was coming or going, falling in drips and drabs as I made my way to Rocks Brewing Co. in Alexandria, where I was invited to have lunch. And if there was anything that could make a dreary day worthwhile, it was the promise of hot food.
Ausbeagle
Decent food but maybe a bit too warehousey. Tables are a bit narrow and sticky. Food was tasty but not mind blowing. I don't drink but my dinner companion didn't enjoy his and left most of his beer behind. Service is good (British bartender guy is pretty hot) and parking is plentiful .
Laura B
There is so much awesomeness in this ultra cool venue. The staff go above and beyond to make sure you have a good time. The food is fabulous and obviously the drinks are pretty damn good too!
Dhawal Damania
Pretty decent Beers and good prices too. Do not miss their Beef burgers and those amazing Chicken wings in Spicy sauce.

Great selection of beer and food, just get crowded during the afternoons and evenings.

The atmosphere is great for families and kids. Love their selection of beer plus their food is great. They offer live music as well. Big portions. Wish they had more car parks though.
Oh Burger Me
The patty was overcooked to the point that it was actually crunchy (which was a first for me). Too much chutney (that redefined bland) and a mushroom that had no business being there with the other elements at play. The kind of burger you’d expect from the dodgy cafe around the corner (that everyone avoids). Genuinely hard to finish.
It's CAKe Time
This place has a really good atmosphere and decent quality food, although the portion sizes vary a lot across each menu item and it edges on the pricey side. If you’re in the area, go for it! (probably the only place you’ll find around there anyway)...

A brewery that serves breakfast? Who would have thought! They are open from 7.30am to 10.00pm, 7 days a week. These are the people who brought you Harts Pub (previous blog post here) , which is pretty amazing too.
THEJUGERNAUTS
Rock Brewing Company’s (A 5th and 6th Generation Sydney Craft Brewery) has set up shop out in Alexandria and the new brewery is located in a fairly generi business park and you get to visit a brewery bar when you drop in for beers and eats. We liked this. Its going to be on the “circuit”. Something different for your after work jaunts. There’s ample seating outside – you’ll have to walk right in and its about 2 minutes off the main road there. Its a high volume warehouse space and there’s a collective of furniture placed around the venue. That’s the kitchen to the left and they’ve had a busy day with lots of stuff selling out. The brewing bar here is all shades of brown and unfinished timber. The scale is built low and looks fairly rusticated with various beers on tap there. Rocks Brewing Co also open early and you can actually come and grab breakfast and some choice vella nero coffee. Adjoining where we sat, sat these jars with the core ingredients that went into the brew. There’s hop

Nice location, good atmosphere, average offerings, and take plenty of money with you. $19 for an average tasting burger?? $7 for a 1/2 pint of average beer?? Seriously!!

I love the quality and variety offered by micro breweries but this place just doesn't stack up. Maybe we've been spoilt after a recent trip to the USA but the 3 beers we tasted seemed low on flavour. Even James Squire is a beter drop.

And what's the deal with 7% and 9% beers. A bit irresponsible I think..

2 of us came here for lunch last week - over $70 later; we wern't impressed.
Tw1
Pretty poor service. Came here for an after work dinner and the food was a little underwhelming (beef brisket sandwich was very average for $18). The restaurant was understaffed as wait times to make an order were quite long with one cashier, and there was a pile up of food waiting to be served on the bain-marie. Only one guy was bringing out the food. This is the second time i've been here and the food service has been quite slow both times. On the other hand, the Brewery atmosphere is very appealing and the pulled pork burger is nice and tender.
Kiwiamac
Mid week dinner and beers with the lads. Good pub food and set up, boutique beers with a solid range. If I lived local it would be a regular thing.

Avoid the fish and chips. Don't know why they bothered putting fish inside the batter. Hardly worth the effort of adding about 100 grams of fish to the 150 grams of batter. Beers were good though and not bad value.
