Good food but bit small on the serving. Really good service. Oh the wine list is good :)

My favourite Italian restaurant in the city. Used to work down the street and it was our go to for many a long lunch and fun dinner. Simple, clean, tasty ever changing menu that never fails to disappoint. Incredible wine list and friendly service and owner that welcome the many regulars by name.

How does this place stay opened? The table next to us arrived 15 minutes after us and got two of the their plates before we were served our first and that was after we complained!
The wine by the glass, a grand selection of 8 wines only. And exhorbatantly priced! I thought the staff and management were arrogant and I was unimpressed with the way they responded to my concerns in serving preferences between tables and with then with the overcooked bonito that was served well before the contorno was served! The Management was arrogant and unprofessional and purported himself to be half Italian however it was obvious his Italian heritage was not apparent with his hospitality skill sets! Further the food experience was nothing short of amateurish ! I would happily allocate zero stars if I could!

I had pretty high expectations of the food but unfortunately I was a little disappointed. It's a lovely little place, attentive service, nice tight menu which I always like but did not love the food. Pasta was disappointing. The pork loin was dry. The deserts were decent but nothing to rave home about. And it always sucks when you can't book a place. Even with putting our name down on the list, we still ended up waiting for 45 min.

Disappointing.
It's been a few years since I have visited this neighbourhood gem, and it will be sometime before I go again. While the service started well it went down hill when we asked the waiter about particular dish and he said he was there to take the order and he didn't know the menu. The cured meat entree was great but the ravolo was under seasoned. After I entrees I was told what I ordered was no longer available which was very ordinary. Considering th waiter had recommended it and it had been forty minutes after I ordered it.
My meal replacement was underwhelming the over cooked cauliflower dominated the pasta dish and was saved only by the simple salad.
The service by this stage was none existent we had to get up to get our wine to serve ourselves and our waters were never full. Half the plates on our table were cleared while the other half wasn't. Needless to say we called it a night after mains and quickly left.

Menu is up on a chalk board and changes regularly. Have been here multiple times and always enjoyed the food. Wine list is amazing and waiters are knowledgeable about matching to the menu. A little bit tight for space but worth it!

We went on a Tuesday, where you pay $55 for a tasting menu from a particular region in Italy. The region was Fruli the week we went and the food was incredible. Excellent value, very knowledgeable staff and you even get a 10minute intro from the chef which is very informative. Highly recommend this lovely place!

Whats not to love about italian wine, delicious food, dim lighting and black board menus! Vini is all that and more. Its the perfect date spot albeit the seating is a little crowded with barely any space between the tables. That out of the way the place is just charming. The walls are all the menus you will get and it will take some bit of neck twisting to see all of it. That and an understanding of Italian, cause the only words I could read were pork, duck and dolci and that pretty much nailed the nights selection for me. The wine list is extensive with regional Italian wines on offer and I honestly was lost on what to order, so I explained my dilemma to the patient lady serving us, and she expertly reccomended an excellent choice of white. So if you are like me and can't read a word of Italian, still give this place a go, the staff are helpful and willing to explain the menu. Their food is fuss free and relaxed as the atmosphere and bursting with flavours. I highly reccomend the duck salad with orange and fennel, and the parpadelle with braised pork, both the dishes were finger licking delicious. The star of the evening however was the espresso caramel panacotta which was divine in a roll your eyes to the back of your head kind of way. My partner declared it the best dessert he has ever eaten! A tip though, call precisely around 5:30pm for a Saturday booking after 7:30pm, they take down your name and number and call you when your table is ready!
