Review Dead Ringer Surry Hills - Sydney

Jenny
We had such a great experience at Dead Ringer with the bottomless mimosas brunch menu. With a set menu, the food came out quickly and every single dish was delicious. The staff were attentive by bringing out more rounds of mimosas anytime we had an empty glass. Our waiter was also really nice and made us feel comfortable throughout the meal. Whilst our seating time was only meant to be for 90 mins, the staff let us stay for longer as we were having such a great time. Would highly recommend coming to Dead Ringer!

The food was delicious and very well presented. Every staff member that served us was incredibly professional, polite and had real genuine positive vibe. We had the set brunch menu that had a great variety of food and the option of the bottomless drinks was incredibly good value as the staff continued to bring out new drinks without needing to ask. Highly recommended.

Great good. Exceeded expectations and I thought it was well priced for how great the food was. Went on a Friday night. The food did take a while to come out between dishes but was well worth it when it did come out. Lost points just for sneakily charging a charity donation on the invoice. Makes it a little awkward to say no, then they have to reprint the invoice etc. Causes a little bit of a scene. Thought that was sneaky. Also a bit cringe when they welcome you as "hi friends" (a running theme through the evening) but overall very good food. which is the main thing.

Came here for their brunch menu. It was delicious and we left full. The chicken and focaccia was a highlight. There is no espresso machine so the only coffee options were batch brew and cold drip. The staff were lovely and attentive. I would definitely recommend

Nice place and friendly staff, but it is overpriced for such small portions. If you are going to charge $74pp for a "Feed Me Up" menu, at least feed people up and keep the food coming. A small plate divided by two is not good enough - neither is one piece of bread per person or one small bowl of asparagus to be shared by five guests.

Open on a Monday. We ate the set menu. Totally delicious and well styled and cooked to perfection. Divine scallops and the steak was fantastic. Gluten free options were superb. Gnocchi was light and fluffy and melt on the mouth delicious. Lovely warm service. Will be back. ❤️

Fun feed-me menu, good service and sleek presentation - particularly loved the stracciatella. Has a good, busy vibe on Friday / Saturday nights without impacting service too much. Enjoyed sitting in the booths in the back section.

Super friendly staff, great customer service. We had the set menu here. Food was delicious. I had the best ever sticky date pudding here. Absolutely amazing!

The place looks neat and modern, the place looks homey and we love the interior design. Unfortunately the staff is unfriendly and we feel that we didn't feel that we are treated as customers. The dishes was a bit pricey but it's was pretty good.

I have been here twice now, once for bottomless brunch and another time for dinner. My favourite dishes are the gruyere cheese souffle and the homemade bread. The bread is so spongy and salty I love it.
We also ordered the fish for main, which was nice but not outstanding. The skin was not crispy. The beef cheek was soft but could have had more flavour.
The brunch selection was better than what we chose - I remember really enjoying the cured salmon and caramelised onion frittata. Worth a visit

Very interesting cocktails and good wine list. The service was great and had good knowledge of their products. the blue mackerel was well balanced so was the smoked mozzarella. The herb roast chicken was moist and great flavour. However the beef was a little disappointing in being a non event. Even though the food was good it's not a place i would go back to again and again to eat, but for cocktails a nice little place

I would guess that the reason I didn’t review Dead Ringer before is because I’ve only had cocktails here. But what cocktails! An interesting selection with enticing descriptions in a fun, casual, hip atmosphere. I sent friends here who told me they’ve been back more than once to flirt with the cute barmen. But finally, I managed to get a meal here, and it didn’t disappoint.

Very cosy and charming spot for a Friday or Saturday evening dinner :) staff were welcoming and friendly. However, the only slight negative was we waited about 40min between our first plate and the second. The tiger prawns were on the "medium" sized dish menu, but only had 2 prawns. So I would suggest ordering it as a small dish. Everything else was delicious. Hanger Steak was probably our fav!

Dead Ringer is a modern Australian restaurant situated in Surry Hills. They serve up delicious food and a great range of alcoholic beverages.

Have to be honest, wasn’t expecting my experience las Friday evening, But I was pleasantly surprised. We had drinks and food for 4 of us and the selection of food was on point! Love the dips that came out and the well toasted bread to go with it. The meat dish was delicious, had to order 2 though bcos it was a tad small for 3 meat eaters. Salad was nice. Wasn’t too excited about the gnocchi - a bit bland but didn’t take away from the experience. Had 2 bottles of read, and our friends had cider, a few cocktails as well. Overall, spent about $430 between 4 people. A tad expensive for drinks and tapasy food but worth it!

Limited selection on menu but great food. My favourite would be the pork chop, well done on the flavour on breadcrumbs and pork chop was tender and juicy.

Dishes are extremely small for the price. Different level of sharing plates restaurant as you are actually not able to share and each dish is around $20 dollars. You would need 4 to feel satisfied but not even full. Wouldn’t come back

One of our local favourites its definitely DEAD RINGER. It’s just up the road from us on Bourke Street in Surry Hills, really close to Taylor Square! One of the reasons it’s on our favourites list is because the menu changes all the time. This means you can keep going back and trying out new dishes! Another thing we love about the menu is how creative it is… you just need to look at the ingredients in each dish and how it’s been put together!

Chicken is such a staple for a lot of people, but not many places get it right. But Dead ringer did! The chicken was nice and succulent. They marinated the chicken in some kind of sauce and it was amazing.

I like the variety of their menu. Great place for a big group and sure everyone would be happy and have/eat at least one item from the menu as there is vegetarian,GF,vegan options in hand! A bit pricey for the amount and taste, but their cocktails and drinks worth every penny. Friendly staff, good vibes.

Visited Dead Ringer for brunch and had a good time. We tried the brunch menu with bottomless mimosas. Of all the items in the menu, I particularly enjoyed the first dish which if I recall right was trout with coleslaw, duck rilettes and toast. They are quite attentive and refill your mimosas very quickly !

Came here with a group to celebrate a birthday and had the Set brunch menu. Admittedly the food was really good but there was one waitress that was quite rude to us and tried to rush us out of the restaurant, she even made a snarky comment about how she wanted to finish her shift and go home (even though we were told prior to our booking that we could stay inside the restaurant for the allocated time slot). She made the group feel really uncomfortable so we won't be returning....what a bummer.

We had 4 ppl and a puppy. Good food, great Share plates although minimal vego options. Great location, service, ambiance and dog friendly outside table is a bonus! Bit pricy but overall great night out! 3.5/5
Highly recommend the duck!

Dead Ringer Surry Hills has long been known as hot spot for drinks and dinner. It has now opened its doors to a New York style brunch of small snacks and larger meals, complimented by cocktails of bottomless Mimosa’s. . Sit up on bar stools inside or alfresco in the balcony, soaking up the sun and you’ll have a pleasant brunch feast.

Had a long boozey lunch here on the weekend. Was not sure whether to go the "bottomless Mimosa" as bottomless does sound tempting.... But decided to stick to the nice array of boutique beers and cocktails.... Food was amazing.... Highlights were the "Duck Rilletes" which I had no idea what it was.... but turns out to be shredded duck leg, re-cooked in duck fat and sprinkled with crunchy potato goodness with fresh pieces of peach.... delish.... textures, flavours were all there. Also the ocean trout tartare delivered and was just salty fishy goodness that just kept on giving. Service kept things flowing nicely and I will be back again to sample the other items I could unfortunately not fit in.....

Cocktails and service are always on point, but you must try the exceptional food. It's my go-to whenever I'm in Surry Hills. Wine list is ever changing and always surprising. This venue never disappoints.

We had a really great late dinner here on Sunday evening, a cocktail since interesting glasses of wine, and just picked from the menu for a couple of hours while watching the world go by from the terrace. My partner is vegetarian and felt very well catered for, highlights were the heirloom tomato and sheep curd dish and the polenta and mushrooms. Will certainly be back and recommend highly.

This place has the best vegetarian food out. This place is but far my favourite in Sydney.
The service was great and the workers were very attentive.
We visited for good food month and will be heading back there again this weekend with friends.

Love this modern bar just on Bourke Street, so close to Oxford Street it's worth the walk! The cocktails here are really nice, I had the Hemingway fizz and a 'Cosmo-like cocktail' (latter pictured) both were really lovely and got the night going. The service here was really quick and efficient. And thanks to the bartender who posed for my photo!!
A lovely place for an after work drink and i'm sure on a Friday night it would be very popular!!

Super cool spot on Burke Street in Surry Hills and right near one of my favourite cheese shops (Formaggi Ocello). We had a chance to pop in for a few beverages and some dishes. The place was busy with plenty of laughter coming from the packed front terrace. The staff were friendly and efficient and the dishes were pretty hearty including chicken liver parfait, buffalo mozzarella and morcilla sausage sizzle (cute). Nice spot that would be great for afternoon drinks with friends.

What a great spot. Only went for pre-dinner drinks but had excellent ambience and service. Drinks were bang on and the menu looked inviting. Will definitely be heading back for a more thorough investigation.

I love Bulletin Bar in Circular Quay and when I heard that they were opening a second bar in the old Emmilou site in Surry Hills, I squeezed in a visit to Dead Ringer one Sunday arvo for some snacks and a few cheeky beverages. The food at Dead Ringer is looked after by Tristan Rosier (previously of est. and Farmhouse) and is broken up into snacks, mains and desserts and are all designed to share.

Had a cracking night with here with some mates last week. Top food. Good beer selection too. Get the sardines and the almond dip for startters and the chicken for mains!

Delicious food, friendly staff, atmospheric with a great playlist.
The chicken and heirloom carrot are a must, but the creamed almonds are a solid new favourite of mine.

Great drinks to sate that craving.

Definitely my new local

Very pricey. The house white wine is $12.50 to give you an idea! However, the service was nice and friendly and a good location. Won't be going back though as I feel that's a bit steep!

Genuine service, an interesting wine list, outdoor terrace, Bulletin Place-esque cocktails and really, really good food. What more could you want?

Darlinghurst knows how to do small bars. It also happens to be a great little suburb in Sydney – it’s the gateway from the inner Sydney to the Eastern Suburbs filled with quality restaurants and bars. Dead Ringer is one of those bars, being the lovechild of the guys who set up the award-winning Bulletin Place in Circular Quay. Located a stones throw away from Taylor Square on Bourke Street, it is a sensational place to enjoy a cocktail in the afternoon sun.

Truly the darling of Darlinghurst - Superb drinks, fantastic location and great food.

Dead Ringer from the team behind Bulletin Place [originally scheduled to open elsewhere (ahem Newtown) and also in April] is now open at the old Emmilou site in Surry hills. So what do you expect from BP2 or DR as evident from the street? The new bar is a mix of restaurant bar with a bit of a food menu there and then there’s a small/select cocktail list. We pop in on a Friday Barhop, spent an evening checking out their cocktail list, soak in the vibes and eats. It’s a goodtime.
